Ladies and gentlemen, YouTube Kids has been broken. When I first used the application years ago, it was an excellent place where people of any age could watch YouTube videos with all of the bad ones filtered out! Now, it is an app where selected content is forced into children’s eyes.

Slowly, over the years, the homepage of featured content- not automated viewing suggestions, selected and featured content- started to have videos supporting all kinds of nonsense, from yoga to even the history of rainbow flags. Why should people influence children to involve themselves in such activities? They may seem good at first glance to most people, but yoga is a Hindu practice and involves other spirits (which many do not know)- and why should children become forced to learn about different... orientations?

Even worse, it is now nearly impossible to find any Christian content there that is not taught in a perspective that it is like a fairytale (the app is filled with secular history videos that teach about the “stories” the Bible teaches, such as Crash Course videos). I cannot even find Genesis Apologetics (a YouTube channel that teaches science to students and young people in a Christian perspective), Bible audiobooks (not even the New Testament), or even my own channel (MLP Pixel 727), which is designed for people of all ages (especially children) on YouTube Kids now. I kept watching as, slowly, all of my Christian-based videos- and even my clean comedy videos- were blocked from YouTube Kids and eventually my whole channel. Even channels such as StacyPlays (a family-friendly, secular Minecraft and book channel) had content blocked.

I pondered why certain content on YouTube Kids was allowed and not others and it seems to boil down to this: it appears that, instead of the family-friendly YouTube filter it was before that allows you to watch almost anything, as long as it does not contain content that something rated higher than PG (Parental Guidance Suggested) would have, YouTube Kids became a place where Google purposefully influences children to like things the world (the secular, global forces) thinks is good.

What can you do instead of using YouTube Kids, for a safer YouTube experience? You can use the main YouTube app and/or sites and find specific channels and/or videos that you would like your children to watch. Alternatively, you put on YouTube Restricted Mode and/or turn off search and viewing history. You can even check- or have your children check- to see if a video is marked as for kids (under the video) before watching. There are so many good alternatives to using YouTube Kids and you can find what works best for you and your family!

Hello, I am 10 years old, With a mental age of about 13-14, so I doubt anyone will care about what I have to say, But I have an opinion, and am going to share it. Very few things tolerable: Now, I understand preschool kids view this app too, but the amount of baby videos is just.. *blehYou search up wolf? “nO nO, WolFOo, CoME BaCK!” (Wolfoo is like some spinoff of Peppa pig, and like any other toddler show, it uses vs. to be *ahem‘cool’). To be honest, the only things tolerable for me are: -Logdotzip (Minecraft channel) -Kawaii Kunicorn (she’s ok, and has some nice gaming videos like Roblox and Minecraft) -Shinbi Apartment (now that thing is in mostly Korean, and can be a bit annoying sometimes, especially it’s kiddy version, littletooni and the excessive toy reviews about it, which are usually 5-year-olds or some grown women, *head: why is this 5-year-old unboxing merchandise from some show for 8-15 year olds?*, anyways sorry for all the chatting about this, and this brings me to my next suggestion/complaint). Translator: Maybe add a translator? Because like I said, the Shinbi apartment is in Korean about 85% of the time. Plus a lot of people would appreciate the translator, not just me. Pride month videos: No, I am not homophobic, but the lgbtq and pride genre is ehhh, a bit iffy for some people, for anyone wondering what lgbtq is, it means you like someone over the opposite gender, an lgbtq supporter means they have support for all sexualities and marriages that aren’t straight (man+women) such as: transgender, bisexual, etc. Well, that was actually it about my big rant, sorry if it was a bit long. EDIT: alright, that intro is driving me and others crazy, can you please make a way to turn it off, because some of us over 8 don’t want to watch a cat sliding down a rainbow and land in a ball pit with their stupid friends in it. (I think that’s what it is, but I hardly pay attention.) I’m not 4, don’t attack people like me who are listing criticism to see if YouTube gives a crap about us tweens/teens. Also I noticed videos take 2 weeks to come, I have regular YouTube on my tv now, so I use this very little to not at all anymore, but I feel sorry for the 9-13 year olds that are still on this platform. Believe it or not, most of us don’t wanna watch “AMOMG US SQUID GAME HELLO NEIGHBOR GRANNY FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN’ CHICKA FNAF ELSA HULK JOKER SPIDERMAN ESCAPE POPIT MAZE LEARN COLORS NUMBERS LETTERS FOR KIDS CHILDREN TODDLERS”. Also, I see a lot of people asking for gacha life/club videos, and tbh I completely agree with them (as long as it isn’t the fatherless gacha heat), so maybe gachatubers like icherry, itz lindy gacha, wise fox, etc, we’d all appreciate it if you added those.

Bravo to the Parents who are actually Parents and know how to read! The description of this app CLEARLY states the appropriate age , 5 and under, content , setting , the Apps purpose and intentions.
This YouTube App is not kids that are 8 and/or 15 for many reasons, including Sesame Street. ( my 4 yr old will not even watch that.)
So saying , " when the timer goes off the child can re-set it " does not relate to this particular app . Even if the child can reset the timer ..That's not actually the point of the timer setting . It's another reminder , and teaches children Time Management Skills. ( and this is not a new concept for this age range and actually older children where their electronic time out , shut down and lock out )
Any support technique for parents is always a plus and any parent knows that .
I have an 11yr old and 5 yr old
I don't allow video games during the school week but I do allow technology in certain formats. Even though it's educational and/or entertainment , it's still my biggest issue getting my children off ..I have a 5th Grader with an 146 IQ
So obviously he can reset timers
However , Lucky for Me I am still getting away with counting to
1...2...and never get to 3

However , I have no super powers , I don't even know myself what happens if I get to 3 ... But it's going to happen sooner or later

TO WHOEVER SAID PARENTS ARE DEPENDING ON THIS INSTEAD OF PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR CHILD IS WATCHING

The description states " parents are encouraged to report and content they feel unfit !" Because PARENTS WHO ARE ACTUALLY PARENTS are still paying attention to what their children are watching , playing , reading , discovering , and interacting with.
Parents are not sleeping and/or watching soap operas all day while YouTube babysits their children. Yet they are not hovering over their children 24/7 because that's actually inappropriate as well.
For example : You have to let your child play at the playground while you watch . ( that's one of the hardest things for a parents )
The same thing with Technology . You have to let your child discover through an Age Appropriate Web-Site while you observe . ( such as going to the library )
Surprisingly your children will end up teaching you !
As a parent you are to raise your child to be independent ( as much as you don't want to) , feel loved , safe , be able to love , be safe , teach then and teach them to discover , imagine and learn.
This You Tube App just helping out with settings for Ages 5 and under.
- NOW - We just need another one for older ages
( similar to what "nanny net " provides )

Pros (+1/2 star each)
- There's parental controls such as age restrictions, time limits, and the ability to block channels and videos. All of these except for that last one are locked behind a 4-digit PIN.
- There is almost no adult content (they can't get everything, which is understandable)

Cons (-1/2 star each)
- There is a 30 second intro that you can't skip or disable.
- The background music is REALLY annoying (you can disable this in settings, but it's locked behind a PIN)
- The sounds that play when you scroll left or right are also super annoying (you can disable these as well)
- The app takes advantage of kids not having used the actual YouTube by not allowing people to skip ads.
- The search function is terrible. For example, when i search up "Geometry Dash" nothing relevant pops up. Instead: there is a bunch of obvious clickbait that mostly has to do with Minecraft, which is very different, and a bunch of random and somewhat creepy nursery rhymes. If i scroll back really far, though, there is like 2 videos, both by the same person, that actually match what I searched for. Unfortunately, they're both in Spanish, which I don't speak.
- There's a bunch of weird videos with really long titles that don't make any sense that pop up hundreds of times in just one search. I blocked them all, which took nearly 15 minutes, and then they didn't bother me for a few months.
- There are no music videos. At all. There are a few piano and guitar covers, but they are all terrible quality. Of course, there's always KidzBop, but I'm never stooping that low.
- Clickbait is everywhere. Most of it is targeted towards kids. If you don't know what clickbait is, it's something that promises something so interesting you can't help but click on it, but it's usually filled with ads and doesn't actually give you what's promised in the preview, but is instead just low-effort filler. Some examples of this are sites like BuzzFeed, toy/surprise egg unboxing videos (there are a LOT of these on YouTube Kids), and those "sponsored links" that you can find pretty much everywhere on the Internet.
- If you don't set a PIN, then instead there is just a basic one-digit multiplication problem, like "What's 3*9?" However, if your kid has passed the third grade, they will know the answer, which is 27 in this case. If your kid hasn't passed the third grade, they will soon find out about this cool thing on every device called a calculator, which does math FOR you! Cool, right?

Overall rating: -1.5 stars. Unfortunately the minimum is 1 star so that's what I'll give.

tl;dr: Don't get this app. Just monitor your childrens' watch history and set some Screen Time limits and you'll be fine. If you can't or don't want to do that, just don't let your kids watch YouTube videos.

My little sister (who is 4) uses this app. And although it’s very child friendly, it isn’t the best it can be. My little sister has been having nightmares from videos on this app. It’s hard for her to sleep at night. Child friendly? More like child scaring. And some of the videos have screaming, scary references, and mild swearing. Yet, the videos that are perfectly innocent and fun to watch for little kids are deleted from YouTube Kids for no apparent reason.

Although there are many other videos to watch, my little sister has already seen them. It’s too late. She says the p word a lot, and I didn’t know where she learned it. So I checked apps she’d visited and the only app was YouTube Kids. So I browsed her “recently watched”, and I saw scary images, screaming, and, yes, the p word. I almost cried when I saw that. Why is my innocent little sister being exposed to such disgusting language and scenes?

Secondly, some tweens and teens are forced to watch YouTube Kids, since YouTube has inappropriate content. I understand that YouTube has that type of things. I’ve seen it myself, which was a complete accident. I was glad that my little sister watches YouTube Kids instead... until I found those videos. I saw her once looking at a video of puppies, which said no swearing, no references to explicit material, nothing. Just the puppies barking and a woman saying “aww, do puppies want nom-noms?” I’m sure a lot of other kids saw it too, but when she went in “Recently Watched” to find it again, it said “Oops! Video has been deleted. Try another one!” I feel like deleting the app, but what else will she use for entertainment? This was a great way for her to watch videos without the explicit material. Now it’s not. It’s full of that material, in the depths of YouTube Kids. Clearly they don’t watch it well.

Back to the tweens and teens. The material on YouTube Kids is for kids 6 and under. I know it says “for kids under 13”. But it’s not. I’m 12, and I should know. When I used to watch it when I was six, I ended up losing interest because it’s just toddler stuff. It was a great way to learn and develop my imagination, but then I started watching YouTube and it practically ruined my life. So yes, YouTube Kids is a better option for your kids under 13, but even then those kids will be complaining about it. It’s for babies. It shouldn’t be downloaded by anyone over 6, unless they like videos of “this is the color red” or “match the hair to the right Disney Princess” or a song that goes “Where is my nose? Can’t smell a rose or smelly toes” or “mommy finger, daddy finger, sister finger, brother finger, baby finger”. You should add a teen/tween section for kids my age.

Look, I will put this the nicest way I can...THIS APP IS TRASH. I’m sorry everyone who actually likes this. And if you think this would be a fun kid appropriate app for you’re child don’t do it, I First got regular YouTube when I was six, when my parents saw a kid friendlier version and thought this would be a good idea, I actually ended up getting stuck with this until I was 9 years old. And ended up never being able to access YouTube, not even on safari or google. With regular YouTube just put on restrictions and limit your child’s ( or your ) viewing to only kid appropriate channels. Parents, most of you ARE NOT TECH SAVVY Though it’s true there is many inappropriate things on YouTube, I’m sure you have no idea how it works. If your TV has it use that for YouTube, that way if you go on it you’ll see you’re child’s activity now look, I’ve heard of something called the “ older child “ settings but it NEVER WORKS. I am now a tween/pre-teen and I decided to write a review because I know nobody wants this. Now I’m not some battle crazed person but seriously parents. Please this is stupid. Not get this if you’re child is 2-3 and limit they’re viewing time since they are young. I searched up “ Dantdm, new videos “ then the newest video I saw was in 2012 if you have never seen dan, or especially back in the day he used to lightly curse, though... he only said it in 4 videos. now he never does it, honestly this app is switched, your child can see something that’s lightly inappropriate. I remember searching up a Dan video that came out in 2012 while I was watching it in 2012, I didn’t see part two until 2019 and it still isn’t even on this app, and the new video came out in a half day. No cursing, just kid appropriate Minecraft. And nothing is there. The only music things I remember I could find was 1 and that was a cat playing a piano with a baby making a bunch of noise and it only lasted 20 seconds. If you already have this app, delete it, trash it, write the most harsh rant I’ve ever seen. Or...keep it and be the most pathetic person in the world. If a parent is reading this...You’re attempting to protect your child is a honorable and valiant thing to do. Honestly I don’t know anyone who thinks it’s not ;-; but try it yourself, then search up real YouTube and see how bad it is. Oh and btw I am very interested in history and I have been studying things since I was 6 right off the bat this seemed way too underrated for me. I searched up a simple “ history videos “ and an ad about female teenagers eating unicorn rainbow poop candy cake up. And one legit said “ oooo yum “ So, now you know what I mean. Who doesn’t know how fun works and legit has the name “ blondie ( or blonde ) ( blah blah blah ) cutie pie “ ( trust me I’m sure that was just a YouTube kids developer or someone with a bad IQ when it comes to actual viewing.

Okay so I know parents love this app and all because kids can’t see any inappropriate YouTube videos and stuff like that is what all the reviews are about but for the kids who are actually going to watch it they are going to want to hear this since it’s there app not the parents and what they think about it cause they aren’t watching it. Okay I am 10 and I have had this for a couple years now and the thing is if you get this app you are going to have to get real YouTube too which is like it has no point then ! Like you have the option for age witch is 9-12 right but it is more like 3-8 it is so baby-ish what 12 year old is going to watch this ! so what you would think this is YouTube just taking out the inappropriate stuff right? Wrong! really I don’t even know what to call this it’s basically just learning vids and opening toy vids so I don’t really know why parents like this cause all little kids are going to see is toys and are going to be begging there parents for every little thing! So if you want a school learning thing for toddlers even when you put 9-12 and going broke cause your kid is begging you for everything then this is for you but if you just wanted a appropriate YouTube channel then this app is the worst! And that’s basically all there is except you might see a YouTube channel you like but then it will only let you see one video and not the whole channel so then you have to go on real YouTube to find it or if you find a YouTube series on a channel and you try to look more into it and it will give you most of the series but leave out some of it so then you have to go on real YouTube to find it again! And if your favorite YouTuber posts every week or Friday let’s say and you are really excited to see them they won’t post it until like 3 days till a week later to see it so then you have to once again go on real YouTube and now talking a lot about going on real YouTube you probably wonder then why even get this if you have to watch real YouTube most of the time ! Exactly ! Oh and if a YouTuber leaves a description down below that you want to check out guess what you can’t or if you want to see the comments or leave one you can’t! And you can’t subscribe without a parent so then you have to drag a parent into it and don’t think there aren’t commercials and they are about all the same even more toys and such ! and then there is a music thing but it all either more learning or it is some kid YouTuber who made up a dumb song and was rich and bought a whole set and all the songs are all about talking about how they are amazing and they are the best person ever and you should be more like them and they didn’t do a good deed or anything it’s because they are are rich and fabulous and they say he I’m the best you should be more like me and ugh . Videos to block:
Some (not all, some of these are good) Gacha videos: there is one where the girl SUICIDES! Little kids don’t have to see that. If you are suicidal too then DO NOT KILL YOURSELF! Please, just don’t. You matter!

The “surprise eggs”. These are irritating and also not educational. I understand how these might be, a little bit, (and they aren’t really inappropriate) but they are clogging up the rest of the world’s YouTube Kids. : if you were 2, how does putting toys in the microwave help you learn? And, this is encouraging toddlers to microwave things that probably shouldn’t be microwaved. They could set their house on fire! The hand puts stuff in the microwave and there was one with nude dolls. They were dropped in slime.

The FNAF videos. FNAF is horror games.

the weird cartoon knock offs where characters are dating/ kissing/ having kids/DYING. I saw Peppa Pig fall down the stairs and die. Also, it is tedious to report each video. Please add a report all button.

Suggestions: different music that cycles through 7-8 soundtracks. I had to turn off the regular music my ears died. Please bring back the original music ... I liked that Also a primary language/ other language button. There should be better filtering. Can we subscribe to unspeakablegaming? (and more Gacha Wolfie!) my friends channel

Edit: this app is better now that I have edited the settings. My bro (5) only gets PBS kids. He was addicted to other stuff... and I get more actual YouTubers! Just fix the settings, people. Just fix the settings.

Also, can you have an option to bring the app back to the way it was last year(summer) ? ( I liked the music and the non- cartoon character app. It was relaxing (the music) Now I get bombarded with characters that have a fairly irritating intro, which I find annoying at times. The characters are actually cute, but there can be too much of a good thing.

So I was noticing that random videos that are appropriate are getting removed, while inappropriate videos stay. Like so a lot of things with BAD WORDS stay, while a video that was not inappropriate in ANY WAY AT ALL is gone now. I checked. So some inappropriate videos are not gone, yet a funny music video that has NO OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT was gone.

I have been using YouTube Kids For quite some time now and it still has most of the good Reliability that It did when I installed it five years ago. And it still has the some of the best videos that it had when I Installed it in 2018. I love that it doesn’t delete your search history even if you typed something in like 4 years ago it’s still there. One thing that I might add is there is only a limited amount of videos. Even though It is five years old it still has the some of the reliability that it had when I first got it 5 years ago. When I first installed YouTube Kids I thought that it was going to be a ripoff of YouTube but i was wrong it is just like the original YouTube but a little bit better .Another thing that I might add, is some of the videos take a little to a long time to load some take up to 10 minutes to load it’s really annoying when you just wanna watch one certain video but it won’t load so you have to watch a different video and it’s just really annoying in general. Something else that I might add, is that some of the ads can take up to two minutes, which can be really frustrating when you just wanna get back to your video but you always have to watch like four different ads before you can get back to your video in the ads can come in the middle of your video or when it’s just beginning and it’s just really frustrating. Another thing that I might add is that some of the videos actually glitch when I’m trying to watch it and when it glitches that I have to re-load my phone and then it does it like every few minutes of the video and then I have to restart my phone like every few minutes and that’s just super Duper Duper Duper frustrating and yeah most of the videos glitch whenever when I try and watch one. Like one of my favorite Youtubers I’ll click on the video that I want to watch and it’ll just glitch and I have to wait like An entire hour while I restart my phone for me to watch the video and then I restart my phone and then I go into YouTube Kids and click on the video that I was watching and the video just Glitches out again I really hoping you can get this little bug fixed. Something else that I might add is once you watch a video it Disappears. Even if you just Accidentally click on the video and you get out of that video the video that you were watching just disappears. And u never can find that Specific video again or you can try really hard but you never can find that exact video that u were watching that’s also really annoying. So if you could get this little bug fixed that would be awesome. Something else that I might add is that YouTube kids repeats videos that u have already watched and that is really annoying. Because the app is five years old it has some reliability issues. To get the app to work I have to Constantly restart the app or restart my phone. Also I’ve had to delete the app and reinstall it to get it to work. Even if I have good internet the app still crashes at some times and i have been thinking about deleting the app for good but don’t because of all of the good memories I have with the app. This are just some little bugs on YouTube kids. I love the feature to block videos and to sign into your google account and set a costume passcode, but I would like to see these features added into the app, please do a channel mode, I want a switch that lets people turn the app into your costume YouTube channel, so my kid will watch nonthing but the videos I selected from regular YouTube, and please add the feature to see the videos you've blocked(but the button appears when you setup a costume passcode, so my kid can't view the blocked videos I've blocked) because I want to see the videos I've blocked, and please do not let those blocked videos I've watched that I blocked to go into my recommendations list because I don't want my kid to watch these videos that have the same topic as the videos I've blocked, and please add the feature to select multiple videos you want to block because I had a hard time blocking videos one at a time, and please add the feature to like a video and subscribe because my kid wants to watch these videos that he likes and the channels that he likes, and please add a button that lets you view all the videos my kid likes and the channels my kid likes (speaking of subscribing/liking please add a switch that only lets you view the channels that I subscribed to avoid bad videos), and please let us watch videos on full screen with Bluetooth headphones, because my kid uses Bluetooth headphones, and he never uses the Bluetooth, he just used the cord that you can plug into the headphones to your device's headphone jack, and please don't block the videos that you added to this app, because the video (Jeffy's homework) was taken off for no reason, and me and my kid found ourself laughing during the video (appropriate humor), so please stop blocking videos (because we only want to block the videos only), and please let us block all the videos from the channel, because when I blocked a channel, it only blocked the channel itself because the videos from the channel I've blocked are still there, and I want all the videos from the channel to become blocked when I block the channel. And please add the feature to turn off the intro, because I don't like the intro when you enter the app. Edit: thank you so much for fixing the channel blocking problem, now every time I block a channel it blocks all the videos from that channel and the channel itself. I have another problem, I select a video, it enters the video mode normally but there is one thing missing. The red box, I don’t know why it’s not there but I select a video and the VIDEO SELECTION REFRESHES ITSELF... this is a problem because I remember every time I select a video from the bottom row it doesn’t refresh the video selection the red box goes to the video I selected without being gone and just refreshing the video selection. I would like you to fix this problem because most of the people are only talking about the content instead of the futures in the reviews. Oh yea, please add a feature to turn off auto play because I am sick of my videos going to another video without me selecting them (and the red box still isn’t there plus the video selection keeps on refreshing itself when I select a video or when the video ends) auto play and video selector refreshing itself when it goes to another video is annoying. If you are trying to make this like regular YouTube then fix the blue tooth thing that makes your video no longer to enter full screen and add a button to go back to the video you just watch. Instead I have to go to history to watch a video again. Please read this and please fix this and good day.

The selection of content is absolutely horrendous and most of it is of overall poor quality. Not only that, but the content is asinine and boring to follow. I’m not sure how many more unboxing videos I can watch before I go insane. And NOT ONLY is it the content, YouTube is ruining the REGULAR app “fOr ThE kIdS”. See, if YouTube kids was of decent quality, kids wouldn’t HAVE to go on normal YouTube to be even REMOTELY entertained and YouTubers would be able to post whatever they want without fear of demonitization to be “cHiLd FrEiNdLy”. And this app is so G-rated it’s ridiculous. The content on here isn’t even for kids, it’s for BABIES. The content on here is also so G-rated that no one besides those creepy, obnoxious, repetitive Cocomelon-esque channels want to post on here. Add a section for teens, a section for tweens, and a section for older kids, instead of having the entire app to cater to small children. Give parents the option to choose if they want to unlock these sections for their child. That way, the app will still be good for small kids and won’t drive everyone else insane. Something arguably almost as annoying as THIS, is, the fact that you can’t comment. How can I enjoy my YouTube video knowing I can’t write a 560 paragraph rant in the comments? How can I enjoy my YouTube video knowing I can’t complain about how much the video sucked? Heck, I can’t even tell any YouTube Kids YouTubers how much I hate YouTube Kids BECAUSE COMMENTS ARE BLOCKED. Just some food for thought for there developers. Perhaps your users would like to actually COMMUNICATE and SHARE FEEDBACK. I know you’re worried about inappropriate stuff showing up in the comments, so just add a chat filter or something. Don’t REMOVE THE ENTIRE FEATURE. For the people reading this.I highly suggest using normal YouTube. This app should be banished from all devices for eternity. If you want to listen to BTS and watch some lady play with slime all day, then download this app. If you want quality content and (slightly) less tolitarian rules, download normal YouTube. For the developers, ADD SOME MORE CONTENT. I don’t care how you convince YouTubers to post on here, just do it. Give them some money or SOMETHING. The music is just the same repetitive, cookie-cutter pop OVER and OVER again. Add some metal, some breakbeat, some SOMETHING. There’s a lot of good songs out there that are clean. PUT THEM ON THIS APP. Not everyone likes listening to Auto-Tuned 30 year old Korean men who have the makeup and hairstyles of 50 year old soccer moms, and a bunch of kids dancing around badly in a circle in a way that resembles some sort of low-budget Scientologist cult for kindergarteners and singing about how bullying is bad to a generic melody that bores the listener more than keeps their attention. The content, I can’t stress this enough, is childish and just plain BORING. It needs some serious spice. Where are all the mathematical paradoxes? Where are all the heavily edited videos cringey celebrities embarrassing themselves so miserable people like myself can get a laugh out of them embarrassing theirselves? Where are all the weird conspiracy theories? Where are all the people calling scammers convincing them they will buy them 500 Google Play Cards? Where are all the Ted-Ed videos on schizophrenia so I can convince myself I am actually learning something instead of wasting my life on the internet? Just, spice it up. NO ONE ABOVE THE AGE OF 9 likes the content on this app. (Well, I mean, not unless they’re brainwashed. Which is what’s coming next, with all this new-fangled MetaVerse stuff.) Anyways, YouTube, fix your app.

My two-and-a-half year old daughter is incredibly adept at swiping and clicking her way through graphical user interfaces to find things to do on the iPad, and has been since before she was 2 years old. It's really amazing how children today are practically born able to leverage technology. To this day she finds functionality in apps that I didn't even know existed. So when we saw this app come up on the suggested apps list we figured we would give it a try.
At first this YouTube Kids app seemed like it would be a good app to let our daughter use on my iPad to pass time while I'm on a conference call with a or otherwise indisposed and need some uninterrupted quiet. My daughter goes to full day daycare and my wife and I work from home, so most of the time our daughter is fully engaged in something educational, but there are times when it just works out that we both have customer calls after hours when our daughter is home from daycare. While I don't like the idea of her glued to a screen, and I constantly yell at her to "get further away from the screen or you'll go blind!", we've found that an iPad or iPhone is one of the only things that can keep a 2 year old occupied and out of trouble for a half hour at a time.

The CONCEPT of this app is great - my daughter likes using the interface, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the interface although my daughter uses Netflix Kids perfectly well too. And Netflix Kids has great programs like Little Einsteins and SuperWhy which very effectively teach children while keeping them entertained.

The problem with this app is that while all of the "channels" look good when you are setting up the app for the first time for your child, that's NOT what your child will actually be watching after the first few minutes. That's the key - the channels you see up front are just a jumping off point, after which the content can change drastically. And as other people have said in their reviews, it always ends up in some creepy video with a women's hands opening plastic eggs and reviewing the "prizes" she finds in weird voices, or some trippy videos with Micky Mouses head on Captain America's body charging Optimus Prime and then throwing a miniature 6" tall Spider Man at Optimus who right before impacting the transformer actually farts in his face, knocking the robot out from the noxious fumes. I am not making that up although I'd love to get my hands on whatever drugs the creater was on while making that video. Oh, and the whole time that is going on, there is obnoxious, mind numbingly repetitive music playing in the background that makes you want to jam pencils in your ears if you are sitting within earshot.

When I see my daughter watch those two videos I swear I can see my daughter's brain cells crying out in anguish and then dying, and a monkey riding a unicorn riding a unicycle could roll by and she wouldn't even glance away from the screen she is so mesmerized. And she somehow CRAVES watching those videos like they are addicting or something - very scary that those videos seem to produce such a reaction.

The insidious thing is that I looked myself and I cannot find either of those videos, but whenever my daughter uses the app she ends up there somehow as I have seen both of those videos multiple times. And the worst thing is, there is no obvious mechanism for a parent to click on something to say "never show my kid this trash again", or if there is then I couldn't find it, and I manage IT projects for a living so hopefully I'm at least marginally technically literate.

So I'll be uninstalling this app from all of our devices until there is a better way to ensure the content my daughter comes across is of higher quality.

Now I am 11 years old and my brother uses this app because on the real app he was watching inappropriate videos so my mom delete it and got him this and one day he was watching it and I heard someone say the s word.I didn’t tell my mom because that was the last thing to were he could actually watch videos but if your gonna put on kids videos then actually make sure there is so swearing because thanks to that video he swears now.And also I just got actual YouTube because I told my mom I need educational videos for school because I’m in middle school and corona so I have to teach myself and she said yes but my poor brother if you can’t watch real YouTube then ask your parents for restrictions it’s that easy if they still say no well I’m sorry IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR CHILD CURSING DONT GET THE APP also no one wants to watch “Jonny Jonny yes papa” or Barbie especially a 10 yr old or older.One thing this app has ruined a lot of kids chances of kids getting real YouTube once this app came parents are like “No this app is kid friendly and this app is perfectly fine”Can u not ruin kids lives i’m not trying to offend anyone I’m just saying why did you have to make this app you could at least let people like videos or subscribe and have videos for 10 and older I mean I’m almost 12 and I don’t wanna be watching Barbie or Jonny Jonny that stuff for FREAKING LITTLE KIDS so whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy can’t you add other stuff that people can actually watch and also sometimes it doesn’t work and I’m literally sitting right next to my WiFi and the bar is full I’m like what the heck.And sometimes you can’t see the videos god bless kids that are stuck on here because this app is the worst.Again not trying to offend anyone and no one can yell at meh because I’m only 11 years old.Maybe you should look at that rating and think about that because I see a lot of 1,2,and 3 star reviews and you people doing nothin my brother has tantrums because he can’t watch videos because he can’t see them.Also there is not a lot of options of videos to watch well there is a lot of little kid stuff but not so much stuff that older kids wanna see.If you gonna make this app then actually do it right then being lazy about it.I just got up this morning and my brother had a melt down because the app doesn’t work unfortunately so now we have to delete the app.GREAT! (I also found a glitch. The YouTubers sometimes might edit in things that aren’t in the actual recording like making the screen darker or doing green screen backgrounds but they don’t show up which make the video quality very poor. At least fix this an add more vids)

I’m not sure if you can do this but I’m pretty sure someone has been deleting my reviews! They never show up! Today I went to edit my review and it was gone! In it I wrote if my review got deleted again I would delete this app. So see ya never! I wouldn’t advise teenagers to get their hopes up for an app for teenagers just because YouTube kids is for up to 12 year olds (It should be 2 year olds) and regular YouTube is for adults. Well I’ve learned a lesson and it’s that the creators of this app don’t care about kids in between. Just because it’s supposed to be for 11 year olds doesn’t mean that we are going to like these videos that are for kids who don’t care about the fact that the YouTubers probably don’t even remember these videos exist! My sister is years younger than me and even she doesn’t like this! Thanks for ruining the YouTube experience not just for me but for every kid who is going to be stuck with these videos until they become adults!

I mean come on! There are dozens of kids and parents complaining about this. And putting a few videos from a few months ago isn’t cutting it! Just team up with some teens, tweens, and parents to create a good app. I know it takes time but google has never released that they were making an app like this. By the way put a suggestion column in YouTube kids. It would be way easier for kids to put in what they want and not have to do this.

This app is a pathetic excuse for a version of YouTube that is appropriate for children. I can’t believe google would be this lazy with children’s entertainment and not bother to think about an app for teenagers and not for babies like this app is. Despite the fact that people have been complaining for a very long time about this. This app is for 5 year olds and I wouldn’t recommend this to even the most overprotective parents. Google has also excluded some videos that are completely appropriate for no good reason. I would encourage teenagers who are stuck with this app to just delete this app and give up on quality entertainment from google but first write a comment saying you did. Maybe then google will stop delivering entertainment that is supposed to be for kids but is really for babies . You can’t even see when it was released. There even is a simpler fix. A new parental control that can be added to regular YouTube that would be easy to make. You wouldn’t even need to make a new app! Just add a tiny function to the already existing app. ( personally I would advise you to just do this) Iwould tell you but then I’m pretty sure that you wouldn’t be able to take my idea. Come on there are thousands of appropriate videos that I want to watch. It’s not fair to exclude thousands of teenagers who have protective parents! And it’s also embarrassing that you say you are a big fan of a channel but when you talk about it with other people you have no idea what they are talking about because you can’t frequently get the new videos like on YouTube! Not to mention when they ask you why you don’t know this stuff, and you have to say you watch YouTube kids even when you’ve outgrown the videos! Please rate this as useful. I’m sure many teenagers would be very happy. I promise this will not be a waste of time. Just do it for the teenagers who will go their whole childhood possibly getting picked on because of this! I’m on the 9-12 group and you guys deleted a lot of channels. Why did you guys delete gamer girl? She was one of my favorite YouTubers. Why? I saw a bluey and bingo video. Also, delete grace’s world. She is a 13 year old girl who made a creepy and cringy videos. She even make bad videos like little kids hating there dad. Delete it right now! My class hates YouTube kids and I hate it too. Also with grace’s world, it is a bad influence. Like forced to eat worms and going places there not suppose to be going. Maybe little kids that don’t understand will eat worms. And worst of all, they made a video there dad had no eyes, and his daughter caused the whole thing. Parents, if you are reading this, be aware of what your child is watching. Edit: I only have 4 channels I like now, cookie swirl c, prezely, come play with me, and the tanneries. ( if I spelled those wrong) edit #1: add more music, like toca toca anime video ( it’s really funny ) and dark side lyrics.edit #2: I saw a lot of videos with bad words, but I don’t mind “ dumb “ or “stupid “ just don’t let a 4-6 see it, okay? Edit #3: there is a lot of bad stuff with grace’s world, but I’m not going to say it. Edit#4: you say “ family friendly”? NO. It’s for adults in 9-12 and in 2- 4 it’s for babies. Hello, I downloaded this app for my children because of (some) inappropriate YouTube challenges. I often get complaints from my two children (9 and 10) They complain how there both recommended Cocomelon, while them both never searched it. I tried looking up to channels appropriate for them that they often liked, yet it tells me nothing was found. I think this is a bad app other times I like it a lot but a few weeks ago I had to delete it on their devices. There were either baby shows or nursery rhymes. It would be nice if there was a older children's level. About 13+, yet nothing too crazy. Some parents are strict or anxious about what their children could find on real YouTube. My oldest showed me proof of her going into the app, with a long intro and her being on the highest level with recommendations of Cocomelon. They had kid friendly channels every child grew up. For example gamer girl and boy, Jessii Vee, Preston plays, titi games, plus. I decided to let them get real YouTube where they could watch real shows Appropriate for their age with me checking in once a month. (Maybe an idea for other parents, making sure there watch list and recommendations are appropriate.) I also saw that the parent restrictions were available by simple multiplication. Now that schools have mainly advanced I’ve seen children (including myself) learn multiplication by 8-10. I think the app could be way better. But then I see no reply’s. Whether it’s complimented the app, given hate or ideas. Nothing. This proves that you really don’t care. You made the app, change it for the seasons or expansions, but most likely don’t check for bugs or complaints. I didn’t mean to sound rude, but parents should NOT be using this app for children.

I HATE THIS APP. Although it’s made for kids it’s way too appropriate, yea that sounds weird but hear me out. There are many innocent YouTubers that many kids watch on YouTube, that are not on here. Apparently all channels kids ACTUALLY watch are inappropriate. So my first complaint overall is that it lacks kid channels kids enjoyed on YouTube. My second complaint is that it’s too babyish. I made an account for my 3 year old and when I went on, I saw the expected, all normal what a 3 year old would watch, baby videos and nursery rhymes. But when I made an account for my 11 year old, I got the same thing! Like seriously? Baby videos and nursery rhymes for an 11 YEAR OLD? are you kidding me? Yea there was some content kids that are 11 year old kids might watch but a good 80% of it is actually baby content!
And going back to complaint one it lacks channels and things kids actually watch. So click the highest age on YouTube kids (10-12) and you are still blasted with nursery rhymes and abc’s. So it’s either 2 things. 1. This app is just badly organized or 2. This app actually thinks 11 year olds watch abc’s and are learning how to write.
I would like to say, you start KINDERGARTEN when your 6! That’s when you learn to write and read, and they have content for 11 year olds that they learned in school and mastered 5 years ago.
So instead I kept my 3 year old on YouTube kids and my 11 year old a monitored account on YouTube, I have her account on my phone and I go through it every few weeks to make sure she’s watching kid appropriate stuff, I know YouTube can have inappropriate videos but I can’t have her trying to entertain herself with limited videos that are mostly abc songs.
Overall here’s what I hope you add
1. More age appropriate content
2. More fun kids content

My little sister watches YouTube Kids a lot. One time she was watching a Ken doll use the toilet...then she was telling everyone that boys ‘stand’‍♀️ Another time, she was watching a video of a Barbie doll using the toilet, and while the doll was ‘going’, there were the sounds of someone ‘going’. How ridiculous! I told her to change the video immediately and that it was inappropriate.
I have caught my little sister watching other inappropriate videos too. I’d go into her room and she’d quickly turn off the iPad. I would say, “What’re you watching?” She said, “nothing!” So I would take the iPad and look, and be disappointed of what she had found. Here are a few things I’ve caught her watching: a grown man playing with a kids toy (not even reviewing the toy), a grown man chasing his kids (but in an odd, unfatherlike way), kids throwing ridiculous tantrums, kids changing clothes, little kids talking babble (little kids talking babble shouldn’t even be posted on any site/app in my opinion)! There has been some times where I listened outside her door and I’ve heard curse words coming from the videos.
My little sister went through a phase of cussing, but she used curse words that our family doesn’t even use. Shortly after that phase, she started flipping people off randomly or when she was mad...There were times when she got mad and either went crazy and threw HUGE tantrums, screamed extremely loud, or ran to her room and slammed the door HARD! We couldn’t figure out where or who she learned those behaviors from, we decided to ask her and she answered, “I see videos of kids my age doing that stuff.”
I talked with our parents about what I’ve seen and heard from those videos. We decided to uninstall the app.
All in all, I do not recommend YouTube Kids. It is not as kid friendly or safe as parents think. What a disappointing app

Okay so I checked again and you always remove channels soon there will be like a quarter of the Channels on original YouTube and the last quarter will be a bunch of nursery rhymes coco melon (I despise completely) and kidzbop. If kids want to listen to music just let them listen to clean songs! Oh and clean vines and shorts and you act like if they’re as harmful as harming the environment. Try not to laughs on this app are not funny they are trying too hard to be funny but it makes me cringe. But okay. So as you read by the title there is an annoying glitch. So I click on a video ( which I have watched before a while ago ) then it turns black and switches to another video. Like for example, I like the YouTuber HiHo kids, so I click on the video titled “Kids Share Their School Lunch With Their Parents |Kids Try | HiHo Kids” and it goes black. Then it either takes me to another video off their channel or something completely different! And that’s just one example. Sometimes I Click on a video and then it will go black like usual but then the title will change and it goes black because that video won’t let me watch it, and I get so annoyed by it because the video is kid friendly and if it wasn’t why would they even put it on YouTube kids! Also, what is up with not having full channels? If they have one video, they should have all of them. And if the channel is inappropriate then don’t put a video! I know some YouTubers which I or my sibling like a lot ( like DanTDM ) and they are child friendly, then the only videos they have are either very old and boring or just one video. I HATE THIS SO MUCH ! So I will probably add to this in the future and send more stuff that needs a lot of improving and YouTube kids. Oh and by the way I’m not hating on YouTube kids I’m just saying my honest opinion and what needs to be fixed. So don’t get upset that YouTube kids is trash and really needs to be fixed a lot. I have had YouTube kids for over three years now and this just started happening like two months ago and it still does it! And the updates don’t help at all either! I heard someone else say the acronym for bullpoop. I hear less swears on normal yt! I recently heard a video about baking a dead body into a pie and feeding it to the person's wife! Unacceptable. This is trashy because if you search anything you will get the cringiest stuff. You will be lucky if you get one vid from the youtuber you want. The most innocent things are not on there. What's wrong with prestonplayz? You will get people saying crap which is a bad word for some kids. If you are a kid don't look up sonic exe you get a creepy thumbnail. If you are a grownup with kids reading this just let your kids have normal yt. If you are a kid show your parents this message: Please just let your kid have normal yt. It's so much better and there are many good videos on normal yt to watch like Logdotzip and Ann Reardon/How to cook that and Moriah Elizabeth and PrestonPlayz. Also I can't believe they promote wolfoo (peppa pig knockoff) I don't recommend for kids under 12 (too many swears) and I don't recommend for 12 and over (not enough older kid content). To any kid who has to use this trash, you have my sympathy.

Okay, so, I’m a kid, I’m assuming most people that use this app are kids too. I have specific YouTubers that I like to watch on this app. But I’ve noticed recently that most of the new videos they post haven’t been showing up on the app, or they do, and get removed later! Take Moriah Elizabeth, for example, I am a big fan if hers, and her recent claw machine videos haven’t been on the app! And the first claw machine video she did, WAS on the app, and then got removed days later!? It’s not like she started yelling cuss words or anything, as far as I know, her channel is completely family friendly. This gets me thinking, am I missing out on all of my favorite YouTuber’s videos? I’ve been using this app since 2015 and I seen a lot of videos come and go. But the year 2023 (I’m 14 btw) has been trashy for YouTube Kids. Here’s why

This app was extremely great. I used to go on this app whenever I was bored. I used to watch my favorite YouTubers.

2021

The app was still good in 2021. But if you ask me, this app started to go downhill in 2021. They started to add more baby stuff and they started to remove videos for no reason.

2022

I feel like 2022 was a bad year for YouTube Kids. First, I discovered Alan Becker and I really thought he was really cool. But after like two weeks, they started to remove videos left & right. That made me mad. In November 2022, they removed Moriah Elizabeth’s channel. Why? Why would you go remove an entire channel. I knew a friend who watched Moriah Elizabeth and they were upset when they removed the channel.

2023

Oh, boy. Where do I begin? First, they were still removing videos from channels for no reason. I started watching MrBeast & MrBeast Gaming and his channels weren’t there. In St. Patrick’s Day of this year, they REMOVED Alan Becker’s channel. WHY? I deleted the app. But when I redownloaded it, I noticed that 3 channels I know WEREN’T there. First, they REMOVED StampyLongHead. Why would you delete a YouTuber channel that is kid-friendly? Then, they REMOVED StacyPlays. She is ANOTHER kid-friendly YouTuber who plays Dogcraft & enjoy her pets. You guys have a bad system. Finally…I can’t say this one because this one hurt me REALLY BAD. They REMOVED Logdotzip! When they removed this channel, I was so upset I CRIED. What is even the point of this app if you just keep removing videos & channels from the 9-12 group? This isn’t even YT Kids anymore. Only a 4 year old would enjoy this app. But a 14 year old like me would delete this app and just use regular YouTube. So please, add more videos & STOP DELETING KID-FRIENDLY CHANNELS FOR NO REASON!

The app is bad. My mom makes me watch it, and I’m 13, 13 for gods sake. I want to watch a Fortnite videos but I can’t even do that because this stupid app does not have anything with violence. There’s not even any gore in the Game. YouTube kids has show me stuff that my little sister watches on her mom’s phone. If you’re ever going to get this game get it for a two-year-old in and set it to elementary because elementary is the exact same thing as preschool. The only thing I use this for is for Memes and I can’t even do that. I give this a one out of star because this is the most terrible app anybody could ever use because of the age restriction. This app was incredibly disappointing. I was so excited to find an app that would help me filter YouTube content for my 3-year-old twins. I don't mind them watching a little TV now and then, but I want total control over it. I spent hours making playlists on regular YouTube with only educational and age appropriate materials and filtering out content, only to have YouTube recommend videos take over their viewing every time. I hate all the homemade videos of people dressed as superheroes doing strange things, the toy reviews, and the giant candy surprise eggs. I do not want my kids watching that junk.

I hoped that this app would be the answer, but it is not. You cannot control the content any more than on YouTube. All those same terrible toy and candy videos still come up and there's no way to block anything.

I finally found an app I'm happy with, it's called KidsVideo: Kids YouTube Playlist (I'm not affiliated in any way, just a thankful consumer). This app only allows the videos that you select. No suggested videos, no way to wander off into unfiltered content. I have selected only educational playlists for my girls, plus I can edit those playlists to delete specific videos.

I encourage all parents to take the time to do this. YouTube is filled with highly questionable content. Even "educational" playlists that appear safe are not. I've found that there are many channels/playlists that have sweet children's songs in the first few videos, then a bunch of garbage.

I will not allow my children to have open access to YouTube, and this app is simply no better. While it might filter out genuinely "adult" content, that is not a fear with my 3-year-olds anyway as they are not capable of typing into the search bar. However, they are old enough to click on suggested videos, and this app still suggests all those candy videos and toy videos that I think are equally inappropriate. My advice, try another app .

I want this app to have the YouTube like style. When my friends come in my house, or I show or let them have my iPad, it’s embarrassing to have that app on there. The style is really important to me bc my other friends have YouTube, and this really embarrassing. This really makes me feel like a total six year old. I would say 2 stars for the weird music. We need new vids, YouTube style, no intro, and fix the baby factor. I am begging you for this. I want to fit in, (and in my new school). If you don’t do this, it will be a tradgey. I can’t think of anything more embarrassing. I want to make it look like I have regular YouTube, like my friends. I don’t want to get bullied bc I have a babyish app. This started annoying me a few weeks or days ago. My 6 year old friend has YouTube. I mean cmon! I’ll even look like a baby to a 6 year old! Please reply. (Edit: there was a ROBLOX tik tok, and then one of the players said, “I don’t cook I don’t clean” don’t you know that’s cardi b’s lyrics to WAP? It goes like, “ I don’t cook I don’t clean and I shove it down a ring that’s some...” like seriously? Also, the ads are OUT OF CONTROL! I get it! You need money! But this is just going insane. Don’t make me delete this app. Anyone feel that the Clifford The Big Red Dog ads are out of control? And by the way, there was a music video called “PONPONPON”. It was by Warner Music Japan, and it’s the weirdest thing I’ve very seen in my life, and it will always be. I showed my mom the first few seconds of the video, and she immediately said, “That’s inappropriate.” There was also one where this lady was in some kind of costume and a dude was rapping and it was VERY adult. I’m also getting really tired of watching the same content over and over. Great Big Story? Seen it. Gem Sisters? On the brink to a million views. Please fix!

I dislike that you cannot block certain YouTube channels. There's a channel called chases's corner and his fathers channel as well where they call each other names and talk about poop, boogers you know, immature kid talk that is not meant to be literal. However, my son is 4 and he hears them talking like that but he thinks they literally mean that. I hear him talk like that and it's disgusting. I moved to yt kids thinking it will have more control and maybe the channel won't be seen. However, the channel popped up and I know of no way to blocking it. So I cleared the history and hope it doesn't pop up again...if it does I'm completely removing all YouTube apps. My son loves to watch the kid stuff, the learning, music and art as well as kids playing games but since I cannot block specific channels I'm just going to have to fully remove all YouTube apps just so my son can stop hearing people talk nasty. This app just needs more control than what it currently has, which is not much.

For the commenter "to the complainers" about why would you leave your child alone watching whatever...that's the most idiotic commentary. No one is leaving their kid to be "babysat" by an app. Why do you think people came to yt kids...because they thought it was more parent friendly and had more filter control than the parent YouTube app. You said you would let them watch the app and periodically check in on them but isn't that exactly what you just said you wouldn't do...leave them alone and let it "babysit"? Gotta love hypocrites.

Regardless, this app needs more controls so it can filter and be decided by the parents what will show up. There are a lot of educational, art, fun and interesting things for kids of all ages on YouTube and it all needs to be controlled by the parent to deem what's appropriate.

I would not recommend this app for kids over the age of 8 years old. Most of the channels are very babyish and are very boring to watch,mainly because it’s made up of a mix of old kidz-bop music from years ago, middle aged men and women opening up kids toys, and a lot of dumb home made crap that’s not useful in any way (home decor, building hacks, and use of materials no body has at home). Another thing is that even after updates this app still doesn’t improve at all. I’ve seen a few really creepy or misleading videos on the platform, and the some videos are watchable only for a short period of time before the app claims they are “inappropriate”. Another reason to not get this app is that that the videos are extremely out dated. Example- when I was about 7 or 8 I had the app (I’m almost 13 now), and one of my favorite channels was DanTDM, he posted a variety of Minecraft and roblox videos. So I would go to visit the channel and most of the time the videos were from a while ago, but when I would go to watch the videos on my moms phone he had posted daily. So, not only does YouTube kids not keep channels updated, they also don’t let a lot of non inappropriate YouTube channels in, but let really weird and creepy channels on to the platform. Overall I would not recommend this app it’s misleading and sometimes has very creepy and weird videos that even creep me out sometimes. I distinctly remember a time when I was watching the videos and I came across a Halloween themed one. In the video it shows a flying tail-less shark with big red eyes, and many rows of big bloody looking teeth, chasing after children and biting their heads or legs off.he was name “nightmare shark” or something along those lines and would come while you were asleep and eat you. Even though it was an animated video it still was very disturbing to me. I was 7 when this happened and I remember not being able to fall asleep for a week or so because I was scared of nightmare shard coming and eating me. So if you wish to keep your kids from being scared that sharks are going to eat them in their sleep, I would not recommend you get this app!

I am an 11 year old, and I hate this app, and my parents have no problem with me watching normal YouTube as I am mature enough to manually look past inappropriate videos. (This would be much longer and in higher detail, but I accidentally hit out of here and lost the one page review I was working on, so I’ll cut to the chase)

When I tried making a google account and signing into YouTube it brought me to here. I thought that it couldn’t be so bad, as at first glance it had age brackets. I chose the highest age bracket, 9-12 or something like that, and was immediately hit with coco melon and Ryan plays, videos that only belong in preschool bracket. I tried watching a kid friendly series by one of my favorite youtubers that is kid friendly like all the others. It had half of the episodes already on normal YouTube. None of the other half were inappropriate, so I decided to try going into parental controls because it hadn’t asked me for a password. Well apparently it doesn’t need a password because apparently an 11 year old can’t answer 2+2? Of course I can, it didn’t even take a second. Kids in the U.S. learn this stuff at a young age, so this is really messed up. As it turned out there was nothing I could do to get the other half of the episodes, so it was really annoying. I checked other reviews on google, and it was either parents talking about how their kids were too old for this like I am, or the exact opposite according to a large number of reviews. I was taken aback by this, so I decided to check my main page in the site a little to see if this was true. Within a minute of scrolling I saw a video with a kid friendly title but the thumbnail (picture from the video depicting a moment or the topic) was a crudely animated buff Mickey Mouse JACKING princess peach. I can say for a fact that no 4 year old or above wants to or should see this type of content.

In conclusion, the filter should be completely finished, and actual videos that real 9-12 year olds would enjoy and watch. Deleting app, and just gonna watch normal YouTube signed out, by making a quick swipe past any inappropriate videos.

So I’m writin another review because I’m bored, but also because I’m starting to not mind all the kiddish content (though that’s still a problem). There are a few things that u should do, though:

1. Series.
If you’re going to put an episode of some kind of series, put all the other episodes. It’s annoying when I’m really into a series but it gets cut off when I can’t find the next episode. So annoying.

2. New videos.
So from what I’ve seen, the newest videos (At least from channels I like) were made at least (or most, whichever it is) 6 months ago! And there aren’t any new ones! I think you should really start posting more new videos. And if you are, well don’t focus on the younger channels ONLY, since my fav channels like DanTDM, JeromeASF, Ssundee, etc. aren’t getting much new content.

3. Deleting videos.
Really, why?
I mean, it’s okay if it has swear words in it, but if it’s a 100% clean video, just why? If it’s because the channel was banned, why? Was it because ONE of its videos was bad? Ugh.

If you’re reading this, developers, thank you, I hope you take my suggestions into consideration.

EDIT: I’ve upped it to 4 stars cuz I’m nice, but WHY NO MATTHEW SANTORO, JUST DANCE OR STUDIO C? Please add these channels back and I’ll give u a five star review.

EDIT 2: Okay, this app has really hit the last straw. I could only find like 6 JeromeASF videos, maybe 15 DanTDM videos, no Skeppy videos, and, again, no Matthew Santoro, Just Dance, or Studio C. Is this app supposed to be personalized? Does it remove videos it thinks I don’t want to watch? Because, apparently, all these channels DISAPPEARED after I watch like 3 AumSum videos. This is actual BS, and I’m on the max age setting. STOP BEING OVERPROTECTIVE

EDIT 3: Edit 2 was like 4 months ago, and I haven’t changed my opinion much. I want to be entertained, as my dad is overprotective. Why can’t you just update this app more around the 9-12 age group, instead of the 0-4 age group? I’ve seen no
flaws with inappropriate videos slipping by, yet I’ve seen so many videos disappear for no reason. All my favorite content is just non existent on this app. Why can’t you block just every video that definitely includes swearing and has NSFW, as in, likes, IDK, butts, REALLY inappropriate games, NOT JUST STUPID FAKE BLOOD IN MINECRAFT AND ROBLOX! I’m amazed what society thinks us 12-year-olds are. 2 stars.

This game is good for like little kids but the app itself is not for all ages there are not a wide variety of things there and as a younger individual I think that many videos on the app are boring. Also, many of the interesting videos will only have one episode of it and after checking out the rest of the series I have found that most are appropriate for children under the age of ten. While I do agree that younger people such as myself should be guarded from inappropriate things that is not what this site does. The people choosing the videos must be lazy because over half of the videos are created for children just starting kindergarten. This leaves maturing children in the dark about things that kids there age should be allowed to be interested in. As someone currently in school I find that a lot of people who’s parents get them apps like this are over sheltered and instead of learning about why something is bad from there parents they are told that it is cool by their peers. The kids usually go behind their parents back’s because the parents never properly explained issues deemed too mature. YouTubers on there eventually get boring and also as someone who is sometimes aloud on YouTube now I think are plenty good channels that are appropriate so i think it needs more videos for older kids and also there is almost no original music there not even appropriate songs and only kids bop and I think that kids bop is fine but it doesn’t sound as good the real thing and also a lot of kids have a strong opinion on kids bop and me myself I would rather have the good sounding version of the song that’s my review and if you are an adult reading this and think my opinion is unjustified because I’m not a parent then I would say that I probably know better in my position. I think that instead of trapping them from the world you should explain why it is not right for them to be knowledgeable about. If you show your child respect for their decisions and understanding then they will do it back. I felt like I was wronged once I realized how much I didn’t know because of this app. Luckily me and my parents have matured together and I can now ask them about these things but all parents understand that children do not mature with age but with guidance.I just think that if the highest age setting is 12 then they should put out video’s that a 12 year old could enjoy honestly this app really needs A LOT of work and if you read this and still think that a pre teen would enjoy it then have fun giving your child a wonked up time maturing correctly
