Exposingjohns.com while the name seems like an ethical and moral cause it couldn't be further from the truth. Several friends and colleagues ended up on this list and after numerous failed requests to provide proof we find the real cause behind the site. To slander a persons name whether innocent or otherwise, and charge anywhere from $197 to over $400 to have their name removed from database.

One person listed in their database was subsequently killed in an auto accident PRIOR to the date they listed him as soliciting a prostitute. This is a total and complete sham.

Its a money making scam and after checking on numerous supposed johns we find that most of the targeted johns are faith based persons, specifically christian and catholic, and most have recently posted ads selling items on craigslist or other local sites selling anything from furniture to automobiles to clothing. Do not post your phone numbers in ads when selling items online. Use numbers and spell out certain numbers to avoid their database from picking out your phone number.

The sad part about this whole money making scam site is that it is slandering peoples names and reputations and could possibly tear apart innocent families.

In my colleagues research he even submitted a bogus phone number to the site and that number was listed shortly thereafter.

There investigation is laughable at best. This site is soley a money making machine to take advantage of decent folks trying to keep a respectful name and reputation. Add the fact that they are India based, so no legal action can be taken against them in the states.

Shame on you exposingjohns.com for your bottom feeding behavior. Go out and get a real job.

Heres one for ya. I am a Police Officer at a small Police Department. We do not have a lot of equipment at our department so we use everything and anything possible including our personal items while working. We got a complaint that a mother was selling her 14 year old daughter for sex. This is not excusably, So my co-workers and I set up a sting at our local hotel in town and started making calls trying to set this lady up for selling her daughter for sex. While doing so, we also called/text other prostitutes that were advertising in the area. We wanted to try to catch all of them we could that day. Going back and saying our department is small, We use our personal phones at work. Well, we seen an add and it said to text so we did. I text "Hi" and I got no response so we moved on to the next. A couple days later I got a text on my personal phone saying that I was trying to pick up prostitutes and sent me to their website wanting me to pay to get my personal Facebook profile picture removed from their site. They stole my picture from Facebook by having my number. The picture had my wife and I in the picture. I politely emailed them and asked them to take it down stating I was a police officer and I was working under a law enforcement capacity while texting those people. Plus I only said "Hi". They never responded back nor did I pay them. Now I believe the site has been taking down. I'm glad to see that it had been. People will do anything for a dollar these days. Its sad...

The biggest problem with this site, though I appreciate work to end prostitution, is that it is completely circumstantial evidence and anyone can claim wrongdoing.

In our case, my wife and I were preparing for a date and were searching for a masseuse that offered couples massages (non-sexual). We contacted one of the few that offered it and were instructed to text the number (presumably because they only had one masseuse at the time). We assumed it was at a private establishment. After all, we have numerous friends who own legitimate massage therapy businesses and operate out of their homes. No big deal, right? She must be busy, right?

Wrong. We responded. Shortly thereafter, we received a text stating we had solicited an escort and our number had been placed on this web site along with my name and a picture stolen from facebook and a copy of the alleged text we sent whomever we sent it to.

Now, do I believe there are guilty individuals on the web site? Yes. Do I believe there are innocents on the web site? Absolutely.

Now our lives have been turned upside-down thanks to this web site "extorting" alleged "johns." This is organized crime. And it is devastating.

We have heard of at least one suicide resulting from this web site and there may be more.

Please, whomever is running this site, have a heart. Not everyone "exposed" there are guilty. This is why we have judicial systems in place - innocent until proven guilty. Otherwise, you're simply running an organized crime extortion scam.

You know in India we laugh at you Americans. You are willing to pay much dollars to make your name nice. Your laws can't help you and Google is our best friend to show you. Haha. Good luck getting your name off exposingjohns. We will continue to invest and give money to Google to let the world see you rats. Pay and we will remove your profile. Fight us and we will make sure you are shown in any way we want.

I completely feel for you. Around 4 months ago texted an individual who was claiming to sell drums on a site called backpage.com. I sent a text to a an ad "how much for the drums listed on BP to an "individual" who was claiming to sell drums on a site called backpage.com. I received a response that I had illegally asked for a prostitute. I thought it a joke until I received a text link to the Exposingjohns website asking for up to $500 to have it removed. I contacted the email associated with the ExposingJohns website asking them politely to pull down the information because it was false. They never responded. I received a response that I had illegally asked for a prostitute. I thought it a joke until I received a text link to the Exposingjohns website asking for up to $500 to have it removed. When you search my name the Exposingjohns.com profile that was illegally created was #1 The only way Google can make a change is if the entire site is shutdown. They have refused to remove the information from the search field.

These type of sites and scams realize Google has far advanced search technology and are now taking advantage of it by creating disgusting blackmail opportunities. I have since had to hire an Indian attorney to tackle this in a slow process. I told my friends and family immediately; however my business has suffered because people search your name and in this negative albeit false information has the effect of destroying reputation.

Google has had no response as of yet. I think if 60 minutes picks up this story after a press release is sent off regarding this current threat to the national news channels there might be a forced response.

One suggestion to anyone else who has suffered by the blackmail site, exposingjohns.com

Follow a report with the FBI/ National White Collar Crime Center Complaint (www.complaint.IC3.gov) Internet Crime Complaint Center
File a report with the FTC (www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov)

The truth of the matter is there has to be a great deal more social awareness regarding this issue and perhaps this is the wrong format; however I now know 4 individuals who have innocently gotten snagged in the Exposingjohns.com scam from either posting or replying to free online advertisements. One of these individuals even said they received a text message back responding, " Don't worry! Google will have all your information shown in a couple of days."

One last element of note. These text message responses are most likely being generated in the US from google voice phone numbers. They are used and then discarded.

One last site to note- http://www.exposingjohnsisasc.wix.com it still does not show up in a google search yet; however hope to have it highlighted to educate people.

Exposingjohns.com is registered by NETINDIA. (Phone +91 [protected]) email address is email@net4.in

The site also claims to be hosted in the US. It is actually hosted by Pallada based in Moscow Russia.

All communication from me to both corporations has gone unanswered.
