Watch out for " Video Professor " that you see on TV unless you want your mail box FULL of DVDs you didn't order and your bank account charged for them! About 2 years ago I signed up for a free DVD from video professor (selling on Ebay or something like that) and I did get it in the mail. I thought they'd send me a catalog or something to order more as I wanted them, but instead I was signed up for something like "dvd of the week"! They sent some random DVD to me every week or so and I ended up with a HUGE pile of unopened "how to's" that I never ordered. I tried calling and emailing and nothing worked; finally we boxed up all the dvd's and sent them back with a letter demanding they cease and desist and that we expected a full refund for all unopened product. They did stop then, and we got our refund. I'll never shop with them again, even though the class was good - I don't like scams.

I was online and stumbled across video prof. and they showed free trial downloads but once I saw that they used
USA benefits 8, I wanted nothing to do with them, they charged my acct. also without permission and I never even
heard of them until I went online to Check my acct. and saw these charges and I never gave them the info. So I cancelled
the video [censored] and never received any services or free downloads and by chance checking my acct again and see two
charges I did not know of and it was video ###s. They say they cannot refund my money, it's for processing
what part of free trials do these ### companies not understand, it makes me not want to do business with them
there's always a catch, your not informed of B-4 it's to late and they have your money, it's $2.95, but it's my money
and it really ticks me off when they can just go to your account and steal from you, taking money w/o one's knowledge
is stealing. Consumers are no longer safe in any forum, think about suppose they take only $2.95 from over two million
victims. That's a heck of a lot of$$$$, one can see why these dirty rotten thieving sons of pigs do what they do, most people
won't complain or try to get it back. So in a short sentence VIDEO [censored] CAN'T BE TRUSTED. He says in his commercial
it won't cost you a dime, he's right it cost me 29 dimes and, ONE nickle.

After viewing the commercial for the free video on t.v. I deicied to order the free cd online. I payed the 6.95 shipping with my debt card after I received the video It was for windows 98, I called video professor and told them that I didn't want that verison I was to send the cds back. I was given a return code to ship the cds back, then video professor sent the windows vista verison after receiving that set of cds I called video professor to inform them that I didn't want the cds that I wanted to return them.I spoke with one of the agents she gave me a code to ship them back, Iwas told by this agent to send only one disc back and keep the others as free and that my card would not be charged "wrong" my card was charged $398.99 when I called video professor to find out what was going on their excuse was that the return cds must have gotten lost in the mail so they charged my card. Thats BS because it was returned the same as the other package same address they even acknowledge receiving the first package. My return address was on the package and it sure has not been returned to me. Now I being told that they have to review my order and they will get back to me. Their no laspe of time on my part the only thing is that I am out $398.99 for what.

They will tell you that will refund the the money in 21 to 31 days and will be refunded to same account. I explained to the customer service, that the account no longer exist. the customer service dont know what they are talking about. Customer repeatedly telling will refund the money to the same account.

All i asked the customer service to issue me a check instead of crediting to the same account, since the account no longer exist. this is a new scam not to give you the money.

I ordered the 'trial' VIDEO PROFESSOR via internet. If the ad stated one has 10 to look at it and them contact them, I missed it completely - I became very ill and didn't even open the trial disc. When I opened my credit card statement to find charges for $389 + $6.95 for shipping charges on the 'free trial', I telephoned their Colorado office where I was informed because I had not contacted them within 10 days of their mailing, it was ASSUMED that I would be purchasing the program for Photoshop. I told the rep that I would be returning the unopened 'trial disc' ; that I wanted an refund on my cc; she offered to reduce the cost of program by $200; I refused. Two weeks later I get another disc for which my cc was charged $189.95. I telephoned to inquire why I received the 2nd disc & was informed that I was on an automatic mailing of the lessons. I returned 2nd disc unopened vis USPO w/ tracking. 2nd disc was mailed 2-28-10, was received by Video Prof 3-5-10. It is 5-18-10 & I am yet to receive the credit for the $189.95. V.P. rep confirmed the receipt of 2nd disc; when I asked why the delay in the credit she said it had to go thru internal channels. WHAT A RIP OFF. I can take this class @ local Jr College for $20 INSTEAD OF THE $586.85 VIDEO PROFESSOR charges for the same information.

I received a package from Video Professor in March 2010. I did not open it since I had not authorized payment on such a product. I shipped it back (unopened) to VP per their online instructions.

I found that 2 or 3 weeks later, my bank account had been charged $399.95! I contacted VP again and was assured that I would be credited for the full amount. However, when the credit did not happen after 2 months, I tried to contact them again and a recording came on saying they were switching to an ALL ONLINE program and would no longer take credit card numbers over the phone. The recording stated that people due refunds should contact their financial institutions for the refund monies due.

This is not a common practice that I know about (banks don't just give refunds for other companies; the company has to pay out of their own funding). But, in good faith, I contacted my bank and was told because I waited too long (only had 30 - 60 days to ask for the refund) it was not possible to credit my account. So, I was out $399.95!

When I tried again to contact (via phone) Video Professor, I again received the same recording about the changeover to the internet. Two weeks later, same recording; two more weeks same recording. It is now 7 months later (they received my unopened box on March 10th; I have a USPS Return Receipt signed by their office) and I am still almost $400 out of my account that I never authorized.

Please tell me what I am supposed to do now!

I purchased a software teaching kit from videoprofessor on their online site. I was asked to "agree" to their terms and conditions. I did, in order to purchase the instruction material for $6.99. I did not realize that I was agreeing to having my credit card charged $189.99, plus having additional charges of $6.99 for ever. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE SCAMMERS, THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD FOREVER. IT IS REALLY TIME-CONSUMING TO FILE A REPORT, TO FILE WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD AND TO GET THESE SCAM ARTISTS ON THE PHONE. DO NOT DO IT! And make sure you read the Terms and Conditions, if you many hours to spare!

After watching the Video Professor commercial, I decided to order one of the CDs from VideoProfessor.com. I figured that for $6.95 (shipping charge), you can't lose.

After I placed my order I found out that by ordering a Free CD, I was automatically enrolled into a subscription service where they will be sending me other programs and billing me if I don't return them within a certain period. That was a disappointment but I decided that I will make my mind before the deadline and cancel the service if I need to.

Well, when I received my package I discovered that my "Free" lesson came not on one CD but THREE, and the third CD was not free and if I keep it I will be billed $59.95!

From that point I decided that I had enough and called to cancel everything. The customer service gave me instructions how to send the CD back and in an hour I was in my post office mailing them back.

A week later I noticed a charge on my credit card for $59.95 from Video Professor. They charged me anyway, even though I sent the CDs back.

The next two weeks I was calling and emailing to the company requesting a refund.

I would not recommend this service to anyone. Please be aware that you might not receive what you are expecting. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

I foolishly order Video Professor 's trial offer back in early Feb. I returned the product within the time frame and was promised my account would be refunded within 15 days. I called and was told it takes a month to process refunds, which is hogwash, because I've worked retail and it doesn't take that long. The woman I spoke to was very rude, so I asked to speak with her supervisor. Said supervisor, Ryan was even ruder! Now when you called either number you get a recording, which says they are going to online support only and please be patient. Well my patience is at an end! I am unemployed and that $390.00 is needed to pay bills.

Video Professor offered a five (5) day free trial for their online computer programs. I emailed them back on the third day telling them I was not interested in this service as it did not meet my needs. I just noticed they charged my VISA account $39.95. I meet their criteria and they had no right to charge my VISA the $39.95. It appears they are using this in hopes that the consumer (us) will not see that our credit card account has been inaccurately charged. This is a scam and they are robbing the consumer. Can't their be anything done about this? I want my money back!

I have spent the last 6 months trying to get my refund back from Video Professor. I eventually contacted my state's attorney general's office and they referred my case to the Colorado AG's office. This issue still has not been resolved. I found out too late that I could have gone to my bank within 60 days after the debit was taken from my account and gotten my money back. I can't believe that this company has been allowed to swindle consumers like this. They should be forced out of business and ordered to pay restitution to those they've stolen money from.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! I want to warn everyone who is thinking about ordering their video's...You are not going to learn anything more than if you went to the sites ..like Ebay...you will learn everything you need to know from Ebay to help you with selling, buying and seting up an account, you do not need Vidoe Professor! I have done everything as described in the 10 day trial period agreement, on the 10th day I called to find out what CD's I was able to keep and what one had to be returned and while on the phone with the rep they charged my account the $399.95 on the 10th day. The agreement says you have a 10 day trial period and nowhere does it say that you have to call before the 10th day or you will be charged. I sent the CD back Priorty Mail with Confirmation of Delivery and it was there in 2 days. I called and they did confirm that the CD was received and back into their system and they are still not refunding my moneyfor 30 days. This is a scam and the videos do not teach you up to date information you do not already know. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!

I am currently tied up with VP over a refund. I returned the useless CD's ON TIME and was still charged almost 200 dollars! That was in mid October. Now it's almost 2010 (3 freakin months?) and I am still waiting on a refund. I was told it would take the system 30 'business days' to process the refund. Now I am told the system 'failed to release the refund" and it will be ANOTHER 10 - 15 business days for them to issue it 'manually'. I asked to speak to the billing department to find out when it will be done. Amazingly they don't take phone calls. A company line. I filed a complaint with the BBB too. It may go nowhere but at least it's filed. Too many complaints there and you can be removed from their top list. I may do the AG thing as well. What a waste of my time and money and energy. Nice to lose 200 dollars at Christmas time though. (As to private jets, heck if I was rich I'd fly around in one too. I'd just prefer to EARN my money rather than scam it off the backs of working people - HEY I can teach you about Windows Vista for way less than 2oo dollars J/K)

"I read somewhere that the CEO is making so much money peddling his lesson CDs, that he flies around in a private Jet."
Big deal. People fly private jets. That doesn't make it a scam. I'm no fan of the video professor but some sort of evidence about why you think he's a scam would be nice.

"Apparently there is some sort of special or extra compensation for people who are the named plaintiffs in such cases. If you want more info, you should contact the lawyer in charge of this case - email him at ts@ltlcounsel.com."
Are you from Nigeria, too? Honestly, you sound like a scam. Do you work for ltlcounsel? I guess that's why didn't provide any evidence about why you think he's a scam, wouldn't want your posted words to have any legal ramifications down the road just in case. How, exactly, did you find out that ltlcounsel is considering a lawsuit against VP?

Video professor is a scam. I read somewhere that the CEO is making so much money peddling his lesson CDs, that he flies around in a private Jet. Apparently there is some sort of special or extra compensation for people who are the named plaintiffs in such cases. Referring to the commercial from MrSquigles, I have it on good knowledge that she is a real person, and they set up in Park Meadows Mall in Colorado to have people check out their "training" CD's. She was actually the ONLY ONE who liked their product. That is why they use that clip OVER and OVER. When she refers to her daughter knowing how to use the computer better than she does "...and she's 3 and a half..." I think she's 18 1/2 now. They haven't done another public demo like that because it was such a failure. They had other comments but they didn't get anything as glowing of a review like that woman ( pretty sure thats a woman ) gave. Most were " its ok" or "its good" and when asked if they'd buy it most said "no". lol - I love the comment " plays like a video on your screen." What is "like a video?" It either is or it isn't. To me that demonstrates how out of touch they really are. Also, they do all their commercials in-house. Its basically a 1 man operation there. For years, marketing and focus groups have reported back that they should try to use "other people" or "a different approach and do commercials without Scherer in them. If you want to see FURIOUS, tell Mr. Vanity THAT. At the same time, don't approach him in public and call him the Video Professor. He HATES THAT! Unless you are a 20 something attractive girl. Oh yeah, he's THAT kinda fella. Also, don't expect to hear him instructing you on his "products." He doesn't even know how to effectively use his email and knows basically ### from shineola when it comes to computers.

The person who said, how can they claim the ebay is NEW when its 3 years old. That disc contains basic info. While things change on ebay monthly some times, the ebay learning cd offers nothing more than what you can receive by reading ebay's fundamentals either on ebay.com or on any number of sites out there that help people run auctions.

I would like to say this. The people who said "If its too good to be true, it is..." and "read the fine print" are correct. Video Professor runs on a simple business model. Make the fine print confusing, asterisk the hell out of your fine print to make it even more confusing, and they literally do count on people NOT checking their statements to make a few dollars. Local commercial insertion typically starts at $1500 a pop. No idea what VP pays, but I'm sure its in that ball park. National I believe is $3500 - $5000 per 30 sec segment/commercial to start, again no clue what VP pays, but they aren't hurting for cash. Add to that 300 plus employees and they have their own building in Lakewoood Colorado and you have a company that while unethical does well. How he sleeps at night? I've asked myself that same question. The mere fact that he tried to sue 100 people for their negative reviews and would LOVE to lynch me and most of the rest of you screams the proof that he ( Scherer ) knows he's doing wrong. In business you can't please everyone. No matter how perfect you make something, someone, somewhere, will ### about it. If you stand by your business model and your product you brush negative comments aside and rest on the fact that YOU and others know that what you are doing is RIGHT and that you are an honest and trustworthy business. If you scream and holler and demand retribution and try to attack people for speaking their minds, you obviously have something to hide. I believe VP started out with the best intentions, and just got lost along the way. Really LOST.

The New York Times once did a piece on VP. They discovered spelling errors, wrong information, and plagiary. They apparently had a title for "NETWORKING" and used a basic Networking for dummies type thing ( Book title unknown ) changing a few words here and there. In this day and age, Video Professor is irrelevant, most of what they sell is available online for free. Info is everywhere. They started out good, with a good motive but Scherer's greed is what's tainted that company. Most of the people that work there are excellent and they have a high turn over. Once people find out how they run the company, they bail. If they have a conscience that is.

It is only a matter of time, the writing is on the wall for companies like VP. A whole new generation is coming into it's own, raised on computers and very knowledgeable. VP also has nothing to offer Mac users - a demographic that grows and grows each year, and there are MANY sites like this and MANY others lodging complaints. Before I buy anything, I google the product and strongly suggest everyone make that a habit. They will resolve things, they will refund money but you have to jump thru A LOT of hoops to get their. I know thats too late for some of you but as more and more people read this and the other posts, people will catch on. Plus, VP has enough rope and seem to currently be in the process of hanging themselves. First they'd like to hang those who complain or tell the truth about them and like I said earlier, that speaks volumes.

Anyway, be careful out there people, sadly there are many other businesses out there that use the same tactics Vidiot Professor uses. Search and Verify before you buy anything online. I just had a thought, maybe use one of those credit cards that have a set balance on them? I've never used one but that may be good for companies like this. If you have a CC that only has $25 bucks on it, it can't be charged more than that amount, I would assume. Sorry - thinking out loud. Good luck to those trying to get a refund and I hope this gives some of you insight.

I've always suspected that guy to be a scam. I was watching some 15 year old VHS cassettes about a year ago and one of his commercials had been recorded. Sure enough, the same lady as the one in the current commercials was pretending to be someone at a convention talking up Video Professor and "the Excel". My jaw dropped. I suspect it's his wife or a friend.

What gets me is how John Scherer's commercials are pounded into us every 5 minutes on every damn channel selling his "GREAT NEW CD ON HOW TO BUY AND SELL ON EBAY". Well, this commercial has been airing a minimum of 3 years, so just how NEW could it be? Ebay has gone through major changes in the last 3 years. One of them being that a seller cannot leave negative feedback for a non-paying buyer. Video Professor obviously is very very lazy and cheap in the marketing dept. to air a very stale commercial instead of keeping up with FRESH NEW commercials. And beware that Scherer supposedly tried to sue over 100 people who complained about "his product". I am smart enough not to fall victim to a company like this because I can easily see what their m.o. is. They hook you and get your credit card number, then they see visions of sugar plums and set you up on recurring payments and know that by the time you catch on, they've got a few dollars from a few million people. When he says he will send you the CD for free, just remember that anything that sounds too good to be true always is. Snake oil salesman have been operating for hundreds of years and never go away.

I ordered one of their free lessons only to be charged $79. I complained and I FINALLY go the amount removed from my credit card. Also if you receive another CD, then don't open it and write Return to Sender on the front and send it back. There is nothing free about this scam!

This is one of the biggest scams ever. Ordered the free program and they started sending other disks and charging my cc for 69.99. Yes I call the number above and was told I was to late to do anything until I threaten to turn in to the Attorney General. We'll see if the charges disappear. Very dishonest company. I hope this information keeps other from falling for this scam!

They keep charging my credit card, and I'm fed up with it. Please make them stop this. It is a crime, and they ddin"t even ask if they could do this or not. I will appreciate it very much. Thank You.

You guys are lucky. I couldn't cancel. It was simply impossible. I tried canceling They charged me $6 per month for 6 months in a row until finally I told the credit card company to stop accepting charges from them. Luckily I have gotten my state's Attorney General office intrested. They have gotten numerous complaints. And of the record, a friend of mines at the AG's office told me their intrested because a case like this brings publicity since the Video Prof. is a well known product and an indictment will bring local and national media attention. The penalties will be stiff just like in other cases of popular products or people.
