My father in law was scammed buy a Prairie Home Services in 2017. (Who went out of business, and the Alberta Government shut them down due to Unethical Practices, only to open up as another company, under another name.
He was a man sadly not much education so he did not know or understand what he sign. He was told this was from the county he lived, that the county wanted him to get this system so he listen and really believe he had to get it. (and we have a witness to that) Within hours of the county finding out there were people going around the small town of Thorhild, Alberta scamming people mostly seniors finding out it was a scam, placeing notices for the towns people to see. He was inform, has the system uninstalled trying to find out who to call no number to contact these people. No number for this so called company. We have the contract and there is a co owner listed to his house as well as the softner water system he got scammed into buying. (which no one co-owns his home. Different names, address on the contract of people no one knows, credit check on the co-owner (which was false and fake as no one ever co-own this property)
The system us uninstalled right away so it was never used.
No mail, ever called or came to his home regarding this.
So we thought it was over as no one EVER contacted him.
He was a sick man so he never left his home and had people get his mail. AGAIN NEVER RECIEVED ANY MAIL REGARDING THIS..
Let go ahead a few years.. My father in law passed away unexpected. July 2020..
I would also like to state clearly, all mail once the passing of my father in law was forwarded to the executor of his estate. Not one piece of mail was ever received regrading this.
When we did receive correspondence from Consolidated Recovery Service collecting for UTILBELL stated he own $14 000+ for a system (he never used and no number to get the people tp come back) and for a system that is only worth under $2000... As it was not paid UTILBELL place a lien on the home. The home which is "not livable" was place for sale for land value which is no much in a very small town, these companys will recieve more than half of what it was sold for., as we wanted enough to pay for funeral etc. But ON BEHALF OF UTILBELL, CONSOLIDATED RECOVERY SERVICE (also did not want to help only wants almost $15000.
I have tried to call Consolidated Recovery Service & Utilbell Credit Corp, mention in 2020 that he was scammed and no one would help us or speak to us. Only wanting money.
Sadly the lady I did speak to told her that my father in law passed, she said "well he is dead, so sell his house and pay his bills" How do you think a person should feel after that.
Leaving nothing to pay funeral bills etc. I understand I guess Utilebill credit Corp is a finance company, but is a scam just like the people who scammed my father in law, where is your heart or compassion. The is happening to so many senior and people who dont have that type of money. It is DISGRACEFUL.
To take $14991.62 for a system that was involved in such a scam, for a system maybe at the high end cos t$2000. Both companies should be ashamed. Never once, I mean never once trying to make a lower payment due to it being a scam, sadly making both these companies no better than the people who scammed my father in law and many others.
Know what has happened, you think they would only take a portion of the money, to try to make it right, to have heart, not want to be in the same category as these company who scam people (especially seniors or those who dont understand)
The system is only worth $2000, not what we have to pay. Again for them to have a heart.
I have added a picture of what this system cost.
Please contact me I will then send you the contract that was signed. To show all the mistakes, the false information that was place (ie co-owner (as again there was no co-owner etc)
If we could afford to fight this we would have, and with the way, the false information on the contract we would have won. If we could have afforded to keep paying the bills, taxes, snow clearing, grass cutting at the unlivable property we would have just so they did not get the money but sadly we couldnt. That is like so many other people cant afford legal fees..

Please help
I hope to hear from you soon
Gina

Desired outcome: to hopefully get some of the money back.. To not have to go public
