Belk - Return service

My mother received two outfits identical (Alfred Dunner) for Christmas and obviously didn't need two identical outfits. Thus, I took her to the store in Wise Va to return one of the outfits (mind you she was wearing the other one). The manager on duty, Irinia, was very rude and stated she would only get the sale or clearance price doe the items since she didn't have a receipt. I explained she just wanted to exchange for a different color since she doesn't need two outfits that are identical. She said we could exchange without the receipt for an identical outfit but different color. Then I said that would be just fine. So as we were looking for the identical sets, Irinia, came running over to tell me they couldn't exchange it that way because it was on clearance. I again explained that my son and sister bought my mother the same outfit. They were both ordered online. I called my son and he finally found his proof of purchase on his email where he paid with his Belk card. So, after being told again I couldn't exchange I became aggravated and told my mother that I loved her but I absolutely hated coming to the Wise Belk store. The people there are very rude and look down their noses at the customers. Then I told my son on the phone I would have to have the receipt to exchange the items or his Belk card so it could be looked up. He was approximately 30 minutes away from me and wasn't happy he was going to have to drive to meet me. I told him on the phone to never purchase my mother anything else from Belk because it was such a hassle. Then Irinia stated she would just exchange the items. So, we found an outfit, same brand, same style just different color. I thanked her then As she was fussing the exchange in the register I called my son again and he gave me the exact prices he paid for the items he had purchased on Black Friday. Before we finished the exchange, I thanked Irinia again for helping my mother then she rudely said it is not an easy process. She stated because there was no proof of purchase. This offended me very much. My family and I have shopped at the Belk store in Wise Va since before the name changes from Parks Belk to Belk. We shopped there when the store used to be on Main Street in Norton Va. we all have Belk accounts and I was offended she would suggest that my 80 year old mother or myself would try to exchange and item that we did not purchase. Before I walked out I told Irinia again that we would never try to exchange something without having purchased it and that we had shopped at Belk for years. I wanted her to know I didn't appreciate that statement. She then snuggly said well it's nothing personal towards you. I then just walked out. I will never be back in the store. Due to the rudeness of your employee and the insinuation that I was being deceitful or lying about my mother's outfit she received from my son for Christmas, I not my family will shop there again. You really need to train your employees that they are there to provide a service and not try to belittle people. Thank you!
