Gold's Gym - Payment / customer service

I have been trying to cancel my membership for months now. I had called them reference it during covid and they said I had to come in there which I couldn't do because my son can not wear a mask due to medical conditions and he is 7. Today they took out 50.00 so I called them this morning at 9:30 and the lady I assume was working the front desk told me that I could write a letter and fax it but I had to call and speak with the lady in billing when she came in at 10:00. I wrote the letter and kept it on my desk at work and called back at 10:30 to speak with the lady in the billing department. upon speaking with her I explained the situation and stated that all I wanted was my money back and to cancel my membership by fax. She then stated that I could not do that. I had to come in between 8-5 to cancel my membership to mail a letter saying that. I told her the lady I had spoken to early told me that I could fax it and she told me that she has a hard time believing that because she wouldn't tell her people to say things like that. I said she told me the letter didn't have to be certified but it had to have my name, my birthday and a brief reason why I was canceling my membership with them. she said that she doesn't believe that then caught herself and said well I'm not saying that anyone is lying here but she wouldn't say that. I also advised her that I work for the sheriffs office and I work 8-4:30 so there is no way I could be there before 5 today and I wanted to cancel immediately so I didn't keep getting charged and she said they she couldn't give back any of my money or cancel my membership. Her attitude was very poor and rude. Anyone talking to customers should not be this unprofessional. I feel like I got absolutely no where with her. if you look up my account you can see I have not gone in some time due to this pandemic. I understand everyone needs money as far as businesses right now but praying on the customers is no the answer. Your response would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much
