Taking my small pickup in for two new tires, they quoted me an outrageous price for the pair since I last purchased one of the same brand two months prior. After I complained and was calling another location, they came down to a reasonable price and I accepted. During the work, the salesperson came to me in the waiting room and indicated that I needed a front brake job as the rotors were scored beyond being able to be turned or resurfaced. He gave me a quote for the job and I thanked him for the information and said I would check with my husband. Later at home, we took off the wheels only to find that the rotors were smooth as a baby's bottom and I still had plenty of wear room on the pads. Little did he know that my husband and I owned auto repair shops for 38 years. Beware of this location. I called and complained to the manager of the location only to have him defend his salesperson and said his business does not recommend repair work that is not needed. That location is rarely busy and I can understand why. RK
I definitely agree with this complaint and can relate to an experience that occurred 3 wks ago, December 2010. I brought my 2001 Odyssey in for a tire replacement @ NTB in Everett, MA. While the tire was being replaced the manager informed my that the brake and power steering fluids need to be replaced, as well as the front and rear struts. Yea, right. I was suspicious..especially of the strut job. I agreed to the fluid change, but should have requested an estimate of the work for the fluid change, which was overpriced at $200. The strut job, when I inquired, would have been $500. Glad I didn't agree..I had a reliable mechanic give a 2nd opinion on the condition of the struts and was told the front and back are still in excellent shape. The vehicle is under 100, 000 miles. I want to let others know not to trust NTB. Go elsewhere or get a 2nd opinion and ask for estimates in writing!
