I have recently had an eye exam and asked for contact lenses. I told the office that I wanted hard contacts. I went to the Pearle Vision in Collegeville, PA. They told me that they do not sell hard contacts and I had to get soft contacts. I told them I always have trouble taking them out and really did not want those, but I would try them. I paid the extra $80 for the contact lens fitting. Then after I left, I was told that when the lenses came in I had to have a mandatory class that would cost me an additional $50. I did that and as I thought, I could not get the soft contacts out of my eyes. When they saw I was not going to buy anything, they suddenly changed up and said they would let me buy hard contacts. This was suspicious since this was all I wanted from the beginning. They told me I needed to pay them an extra $70 for the doctor to change the paperwork to a hard contact prescription. I did that. A few days later they left me a voice mail saying that they hard contacts would cost me $450. My insurance only covers $150. I noticed that I can get these RGP lenses online for $35 a lens. I wore RGP lenses for years and do not need a training. I called Pearle Vision and asked for my prescription. Brad at Pearle Vision told me that they would not give me my info and that I either bought my contact lenses through them or I would not get contact lenses. He said they would consider refunding my $70. I know my rights under federal law. This is illegal. I really feel I am being given the run-around and then not being allowed to get the best price for my contact lenses.
Desired outcome: I would like my contact lense fitting information e-mailed to me. I would like the full prescribing information. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the PA State Attorney General's Office about this matter. I
