Bank of America - A secured credit card

In November 2022 I filed Bankruptcy (Chapter 7) having run into housing, transportation and health issues that overwhelmed me. As I have had a relationship with BofA for 35 years, I excluded them as a creditor by leaving a debit balance on my credit card. In May 2023 I decided the apply for a credit card with them and was as expected declined. So I sat down with a BofA manager who stepped my thru the process of applying for a secured credit card and I promptly deposited $1,000.

I was declined IMMEDIATELY. I later received a form letter citing the reasons as economic and risk to BofA AND my relationship with them. I called the credit union department and was informed that relationships have nothing to do with their decision to approve or deny an application.

I have filed a complaint with the Federal Reserve Bank and asked them to compel BofA to stop lying in their correspondence with customewrs who are being denied credit. As to my relationship with BofA: I have two direct deposits made with them since 2004 when I retired. I have used Bill Pay since its inception and never missed a payment or been late with any creditor. A my income is guaranteed regardless of the economic situation and there is no riskj of loss to BofA, they could not have looked at my relationship with them in making their decision.

Desired outcome: Have BofA stop telling its customers lies when denying them credit.
