CarMax - 2015 Chevy Volt

After purchasing my 2015 Chevy Volt, Saturday, and driving out, my wife saw that a brake light was out. The service department was closed. I came back Monday morning but needed an appt. Wasn't this something that should have be found on the 125-point inspection? Either at the Arizona CarMax it was shipped from or the Las Vegas CarMax it was shipped to?

If they miss something so obvious, what else was missed? Did an inspection even take place? False advertisement?

While I'm appreciative that they want to be thorough, could they not have just changed the light, then follow up during the scheduled diagnostic? If the light burned out between now and then, then we'd know it was electrical, not just a light. This creates a situation where I'm either left without a car for work or driving with a burned-out brake light. An unnecessary inconvenience for something that should have been easily caught on inspection.

Desired outcome: The service department to research the inspection record to verify inspection was done. Provide me a copy for my records. Change out the bulb, without having to leave the car for hours. Then do the diagnostic next Wed. as scheduled.

UPDATE: CarMax Service Manager called to have me come in to replace the "burned-out bulbs" Once there it was discovered that the "Lights" that failed to work were actually "Reflectors" and no lights at all.

I had no idea as these two "lights" on the back hatch look like actual lights. Had the service person who booked me for a 'full diagnostic' noted that on inspection when I booked that appointment for next week, we could have avoided all this confusion.

So kudos to the service advisor and the techs who looked at the car, for resolving the issue! I would give 5 stars, except for the 1st person failing to note that those lights were reflectors and not lights at all so that we could have avoided this whole mess.

The service manager had me come in, and it was determined that the two "lights" on the hatch of the Chevy Volt were reflectors, not lights at all. Had the service person who did the intake at identified this when I brought the car back to be checked out, then all of this confusion would have been avoided. I'd give the 4 out of 5 stars at this point. Only because of this issue. Otherwise 5 stars overall.
