American Greetings - deceptive charges
I just had a horrible experience with American Greeting Cards online. Found a cute card online as we all do from time to time. When I went to mail it, fairly, they wanted you to join up for a selection of memberships. The one I joined was ONE MONTH. Buried in the agreement is that it is a trial membership and that if you take no action, they will continue to charge you. If you sign up for one month, it should be only one month. I am appalled at what I used to believe to be a quality company would have to resort to deception to make money. They are not honorable.

Has American Greetings.com gone out of business? First, they doubled...
I found THE perfect personalized birthday card for my best friend, and immediately tried to sign up - first, for the free trial...and when that didn't go through after a dozen attempts, I tried to sign up for a month paid by credit card, yet another dozen times. NEITHER WAY confirmed that my application process was ever successful, though I tried both PayPal and a direct credit card account (and my credit is good and all paid up). Clicked on the bar at the bottom of the AG application page, it lit up, but nothing happened after that. Over and over and over, no message and no confirmation - NOTHING!
HOWEVER, the website obviously got all my personal CC and PayPal information, actually allowed me to both sign in and sign out of the website, but EVERY time I tried to send the card it told me that my membership was not active! - that I needed to activate it by completing the same information I had entered countless times already! THE MOST FRUSTRATING and nerve-wracking online experience I've had in a LONG time. Their customer service line just says, "We're sorry, but due to 'unforeseen circumstances' we are unable to answer your call at this time." PERFECT GREETING CARD vs BROKEN WEBSITE AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
THE MOST frustrating and suspect website I've dealt with. Its application process has all the characteristics of a sleazy scam phishing site. My high opinion of American Greeting Cards is now in the toilet.
