Farmers Home Furniture - poor quality of furniture

In November 2009 I purchased two sofas and an ottoman manufactured by Corinthia and purchased from Farmers Home Furniture in Williamston, NC.

Seven months later I contacted the manager of Farmers Home Furniture about the fabric pilling. Since the furniture was still under warranty, they replaced the cushion covers and had the ottoman reupholstered.

Replacing the cushion covers did not fix the problem. The fabric was cheap and it continued to pill. The furniture is now 3 years old but looks like it’s ready for the furniture graveyard.

Again I contacted Farmers Home Furniture who offered 70% off of any sofa in the store. Why would I want to pay them any more money? Are their sofa’s only good for 3 years?

I decided to sue Farmers Home Furniture in Small Claims Court in Martin County, NC. Craig Daniels, the Magistrate for this county, heard the case. As evidence, I brought along my sofa cushions to show the damage to the cushions. He dismissed my case due to “lack of evidence” (?). Interesting…..

I gave the 2 sofa’s away. Too many bad memories from both Farmers Home Furniture as well as my Court appearance in Martin’s County.

I guess this was my welcome to North Carolina. They do things a little different down here!

the kinston n.c. store has gone absolutely to the dogs in the past year. the manager is a strong racist, the supervisor is only interested in his job, apparently, because he doesn't try to help, and the corporate officials couldn't care less either. it is about time to close that fiasco down and move on out of town. there is not much lower for that store to go. it is like going into the lowest slum area of town, and just try to understand what one of the employees are saying to you. You can definitely tell that they do not know what they are talking about, and don't care for that matter. they only have two or three whites in the store and you can tell that is the manager's choice, and the rumor is he's trying to get those few whites out of the store. it is my understanding he has already fired the other whites that were there. SO MUCH FOR FARMERS FURNITURE. A SAD SHOPPING EXPERIENCE IN KINSTON, N.C. DON'T WAST YOUR TIME...GO HOME AND WATCH A CARTOON, IT WILL MAKE MORE SENSE.
