Mr. Rooter

: Called Mr Rooter for an estimate to camera my sump pump line. I was told that there were no prices in the office and for $47.90 I could have someone come out and give me a price. On July 18, 2013, Taylor from Mr. Rooter came out and immediately gave me a price of $250.00 to camera, nothing was done to determine that price which leads me to believe that price could have been quoted on the phone and is all part of the bait and switch scheme. I agreed to have the camera job done since I have had problems with my sump pump line and needed to determine the problem. After completing the camera job he told me that the line did not look broken but was blocked and that I could have him water jet the line. He assured me that he had a 80% success rate and that if it didn't work, he could not charge me for something that he in essence did not do. So I felt there was very little risk and his confidence in the water jetting resolving my problem, I agreed to have this done. After water jetting the line from both ends of the yard, he advised me and my son that the blockage was calcium and that it had all been dislodged and the line was open and flowing. So with that said, I wrote him a check for $1007.13 ( an additional $100.00 for a new pvc pipe ). He told me that if in a year it happens again to call him. Much to my shock and horror, on July 27, 2013 after a hard rain the sump pump was again dumping gallons of water out of the overflow on the side of my house - exactly as it was before I called Mr Rooter and paid $1007.13 ! I called the office and Taylor and Danny, also from Mr Rooter came back out. They did something, either came or water jet and told me that they did not know what was wrong and proceeded to hand me an estimate to dig up my yard for $4185.00 ! We discussed when he first came for an estimate and told him that this would NOT be an option, so I was surprised that he gave me the estimate when I did not even ask for it. BAIT AND SWITCH also did not perform the service. BEST PART OF IT ALL - THIS COMPANY WAS RECOMMENDED BY THOMAS KLAPP - CHIEF INSPECTOR FROM CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI ... you figure that one out !
