Huddle House - manager/employee

My Daughter In Law is sick with flu and had to go to Er which took her off work. Annie Contrell (Manager) asked for statement and when Her husband took it In another employee Jeff told her husband that Bandy Sexton was fired..
This is not proper procedure nor professional procedure?
She has dedicated her service to your company for several years now.
There are labor laws protecting employees.
