This is not the first encounter with your "Head, Lead, or Supervising Pharmacist" at this location. Without knowing who I was, she informed me that the patient, David Michael Poplett, birthdate April 19, 1972, had been "banging shelves in the store and causing a disturbance." She went on to ask, "Why is her back?" I replied, "Ma'am, I am unaware of this situation. However, I would assume you would handle that within the store." She continued to be rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful even after explaining that the client, David Poplett, is my husband and a stage 4 cancer patient who desperately needs his pain medications.
On September 27, this woman repeated this scenario and demonstrated a lack of compassion or human connection. She refused to check the incoming calls that are often logged in the answering machine despite the fact my robust and determined husband is crying due to the enormous amount of pain from the original neoplasm, 7.8 cm in size, pressing against the SVC in which two stents had to be placed with the addition of METS to the brain, hip, rib, and other areas. She informed me, the client, that "I needed to listen!" She stated, "There are eighteen minutes before the store closes, and I have three people in line!" I said that as a professional, she should be trained to assist and comfort people, whether patients or family members, and even demonstrate how she could and should respond. She asked to speak with my husband, who can barely talk and certainly did not need this. During their conversation, my husband, who is so weak and who has suffered brain damage, who would usually stand up for himself, was informed that she would NOT FILL HIS PRESCRIPTION DUE TO MY EXCHANGE WITH HER! WHAT? This is UNACCEPTABLE! She went on to tell him that he should SWITCH PHARMACIES TO HY-VEE! THAT IS NOT HER PLACE!
THIS YOUNG WOMAN, DESPITE HER PHARMACEUTICAL DEGREE, LACKS THE PROFESSIONALISM, HUMAN CONNECTION, THE CARE AND COMPASSION NEEDED BY A PHARMACIST. I AM AWARE OF THE SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. HOWEVER, HER BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE.
HE NEEDS THOSE MEDICATIONS FILLED TODAY. I EXPECT WALGREENS TO TAKE DISCIPLINARY MEASURES IMMEDIATELY AS THIS YOUNG WOMAN HAS UNDOUBTEDLY TREATED OTHER PATIENTS AND FAMLIII IN THIS MANNER.
IF WE DO LEAVE WALGREENS PHARMACY, THEN WE WILL NO LONGER BE PURCHASING ITEMS FROM WALGREENS, MEANING THE CORPORATION WILL LOSE MONEY.
PLEASE REMEDY THIS SITUATION IMMEDIATELY. THIS COMPLAINT WILL ALSO BE LODGED WITH OTHER AGENCIES AND THE STORE MANAGER.
