Best Buy - Exchange of wifi extender.

I tried to return a pair of Netgear Wifi extenders for CREDIT, not cash. Yes, they were beyond the return date, but that's because I kept trying and trying to get them to work (this upon advice given by their Geek Squad people). The two units and the original packaging are in pristine condition, and they are still the current, most recent models of these devices (it's not like Netgear has moved on from these, they are still their latest and greatest). The problem is that they simply don't work in my house, they don't do what the Geek Squad people said they would do, and I can't use them.

So, why should I get an exchange for these, even if they are beyond the exchange date? 1). I was acting on the advice of their people. I tried time and time again to get them to work, and when they didn't, the Geek Squad people said "No, try this. No, try that." Had I just tried them once, boxed them back up, and returned them, there would be no question about this.

2). In the past ten years, I've bought two computers, at least five TVs, two soundbars, several cameras and lenses, at least six monitors, a stereo receiver, an ungodly amount of accessories, peripherals, and storage devices, etc., etc., etc. I've got a platinum membership. Best Buy was my go to place for electronics, and up to this point, I've only had one bad experience (which I don't blame on the associate, I blame on the management for training the associate poorly).

I've spent more than 10k there over the past several years. Now, I'm going to have to reconsider where I spend that money. I guess I'll just have to comparison shop there, but make my actual purchase from Amazon, or direct from the manufacturer. Considering that it looks like I need two new computers soon, that's money that they could have had, but now will not. Considering that I wanted an exchange, not a refund, I think they blew it.

P.S. The NetGear instructions sucked. First, they send you to an app (which I hate). Second, the instructions told you to make selections on the app that didn’t exist. Infuriating.

Desired outcome: Exchange the extenders.
