Safeway - Customer service

To Whom It May Concern:

My husband and I moved up here 7 years ago to Pollock Pines. We were happy that there was a Safeway down the street from our home. We have done all our shopping here since we moved in (prior to we lived in Rancho Cordova and did our shopping at Safeway on Folsom). Long story short, Michael Taylor (approximately 60 years old) is our neighbor. He moved next door a few years ago and took a job with your location.

With the circumstances, he is to stay 15 feet away from my husband and I. We aren’t shopping to step into any issues with Michael Taylor, just to get our groceries. Knowing our circumstances, we have come in here to shop, and each time Michael has approached us.

• Eric went to Safeway for Starbucks and a breakfast burrito from the deli. Michael Taylor walked right behind him at Starbucks. When Eric was waiting for his burrito at the deli, Michael came up a couple feet next to him at the counter. On another occurrence, when Michael Taylor was down near the bakery, I came out of the produce area. He stopped what he was doing and walked towards the produce section, stopped and moved some fish (or chicken) around in the frozen food. I needed to get tartar sauce and was stopped by two other employees doing their job. It was an uncomfortable moment. *2022

The last time I was in, I started down the aisle in the meat department and Michael Taylor was there. I turned up the aisle into the front of the store just to see Michael Taylor in front of me again. I changed aisles and halfway down, Michael Taylor was coming up again the same aisle. I had to turn around. *2023

At this point, I have stopped shopping at this store due to his inappropriate actions. Our lawyer insured us we still go to Safeway, just to stay away from Michael Taylor. We aren’t looking for Michael Taylor to lose his job, just keep his end of the deal and keep the 15’ distance.

Groceries are essential to all, and I hope you understand my concern. Pollock Pines has been our comfort haven.

Sincerely,

Kim Fields

Safeway - Spoiled food

I have shopped at the Safeway in Pollock Pines, California from time to time. On four different occasions in the past 11 months since we moved to the area, I have purchased meat there that, when opened on the day they were purchased, were horribly rotten. On two occasions it was vacuum sealed lamb and on two others it was vacuum sealed grass fed ground beef. Both had come from the same refrigerated case. On three of those occasions, I just threw out the offending meat. The fourth, though, I had spent nearly $30 on a rack of lamb and I had had enough! I drove straight back to the store where I had purchased it less than an hour prior, and the manager allowed me to exchange it for something else... We avoided the meat entirely... But she was completely disinterested in hearing my concern that there may be something wrong with the refrigerated meat case or perhaps their food handling practices in the meat department needed to be reviewed. Then, just yesterday, I discovered that the gallon of milk I bought there on Sunday (yesterday was Tuesday), was spoiled - not just a little! I have checked the temperature in my refrigerator and it is 36 degrees, well within the safe range for storing food. We live 4 miles from that Safeway and had driven directly home, the milk was literally the first thing I put in the refrigerator just moments after arriving home.
At this point, I just can't justify shopping there anymore. I'd rather drive to the Raley's in Placerville which is further away, than buy rotten food at the Pollock pines Safeway. I'm still a little scarred by the smell of that milk! It was traumatizing! Lol!

Desired outcome: That Safeway review their meat and cold food handling practices and check the temperatures in their refrigerated cases.
