I applied for a job as an opener at the Carl's Jr. in Cottonwood, Arizona. The interview was set up for 2/24/2023, and I get a call this morning ( 2/21/2023) from the manager of this location asking me if I can come in this morning to interview. After pointing out that my interview is scheduled for this Friday at 10:30am, he proceeds to tell me that he is desperate to hire people.
He then starts to interview me over the phone, and I said are interviewing me now? He continues to ask questions like what my experience is, I asked if he had my resume in front of him. He said something under his breath, inaudible.
Then he asks me my age! I said; "What does this have to do with anything?"
His response was spoken in between saying; "Um, uhh..!" He finally said; "Well we need a leader because we have a lot of younger people here." I said; "I have over 30 years experience.
He then asked my availability, and I told him Monday through Saturday. He said; "You can't work Sunday?" I said that I have a commitment twice a month and that I'd rather not have it scheduled only to have to request it off.
Then the manager proceeds to inform me of the schedule 5:30am - 1:30pm, and that the days off are Monday and Tuesday! I had told him earlier that I was looking for 30 hours a week. I asked what the wage was, and it is $14
an hour.
This was the most invasive, unprofessional, and tacky interviews I have ever experienced. I should have known better than to apply here. When I did Doordash, this restaurant was and still is for not having the food ready on time. The people that work there are so overwhelmed, under trained, and hence, unprofessional.
They go through staff like crazy! It is rumored that the owner cares very little for her staff and that all she wants is that her restaurant makes money. Too bad people consider fast food...Food!
Desired outcome: To make others aware!
Yale University’s CELI lists Carl’s Jr. as still doing business in Russia as Putin continues to bomb schools and hospitals in Ukraine. As much as they might want to deny it, this is no better than doing business in Nazi Germany, and this is not an exaggeration.
