I submitted a claim on 5 / 27 / 11 and they have not tried to resolve the claim, i had stored 10 set of mattresses at uhaul at whitehall store on the room 1330 and the roof had a leak and all the mattresses got wet and damaged and there is a meg willauer supposely working on the claim but is not returning my phone calls i spoke with the manager dave horn and he stated on 6 / 8 / 11 that he will check on the claim and return my phone call and today is 6 / 13 and he did not return my phone call yet. As per the uhaul store in whitehall they have no idea of nothing and they supposely can't do anything for me. The manager on 5 / 27 stated he was going to move the mattresses for the storage unit to keep them dry until the investigation is done but did not do what the promised.

We brought our brand new van to U-Haul, because they claimed to be the master of hitch installation, which is very ironic because they did the Exact opposite. They told us the part would take 14 business days to order, so we could not bring our boat on vacation (which was kind of the point) the following Saturday. So they had not called us back at all, after 45 days I called them and they said the part was ready to come in and have it installed, as I did the following day. I left my van there because it was to take two hours, when I returned the installer informed me that he had to remove my exhaust system to make it fit. Then when I saw the hitch it looked like it belonged on a dump truck! Keep in mind the van was ONE month old. So my husband told them to remove it. When they did, they ripped it off and cut the wires! And left us on our way with no working signals. We had to pay the dealership for all repairs to our new vehicle. I wrote a letter to the corporate office with an explanation of how unqualified, rude, and also vandalistic their employees are, not one person ever got back to me. The owner of the shop itself told us to go ahead and complain to anyone we like, it would not matter. How's that for customer service. I believe U-Haul should pay us for all the added expenses caused by their lousy work! And the way I learned that all my wires we're cut, is that someone informed me I had no brake lights, and that is how U-Haul sent me on my way, as I passed the billboard in their driveway, We are the experts in hitch installation.

U- haul is a bunch of thieves . . I bought u-haul blankets for 6 dollars a piece (5 of them) used them once, and tried to return for the offered monies back. I was in shock when the little man behind the counter took the blankets in the back room, did not give me my money back . When i asked for the blankets back he threatend me with the police, saying I was threatening and the blankets were U-haul property . I should have stayed for the police but who needs the hassle? I will never use u -haul again due to the rudeness and misrepresentation of service . Shame on you U- Haul

We have rented trucks from this location twice, and both times the agent (Josh? Agent signature #30534) was very rude. We shouldn't have gone back the second time, but we were in a hurry and the location was closest to us. "Josh" avoided eye contact and acted like a *** at the desk, as well as out front when we asked him to empty the truck of trash and wash the side-view mirrors that were so dirty, they would have been a driving hazard. The whole truck was VERY dirty and the air in the cab didn't work properly: it only blew on our feet. I called Josh to ask if it was broken and he said, "Without seeing it, I don't know." I don't believe him, especially after he tried to pass off a dirty, garbage-filled truck as appropriate! "Josh" also listed the gas tank as being more full than it actually was: he wrote "15/16" but the gage was closer to the halfway mark between 3/4 tank and full. Also, we bought a roll of packing tape there that turned out to be SO THIN, it curled up and broke apart like the cheapest scotch tape on the market -- useless! Before we took the truck, "Josh" put a $75.00 hold on my card, and my receipt said it was only an authorization hold, not a charge... but when I returned the truck, and the total fee came to $57.76 and he STILL CHARGED MY CARD $75.00! I had a feeling he was screwing around with me, so I asked if he had released the hold and charged me the correct amount. He was annoyed and said, "I charged you $75.00 and gave you a refund for the difference." I asked how long it would take for the refund to post and he snapped: "I just put it through. How long your bank takes to process it is how long it will take. It could take 7 to 10 days." What!? What a ***! He should have canceled the hold and charged me the CORRECT amount! So, from his horrible attitude, to the filthy, broken-air truck, to the scam on the gas gage and over-charging me, WE WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INSIDE EMPIRE UHAUL AGAIN! And what's with the $1 environmental fee? I read the explanation for it on the Uhaul website, and it still didn't make sense. We will avoid renting from Uhaul -- any Uhaul -- from here on in... we'd rather pay our relatives with vans and trucks than contribute to a business that allows JERKS to work for them and scam their customers.

I rented a UHaul Truck from this location. After reserving a truck through their national website, and being given an address to pick the truck up, I had to travel to 3 other locations before I was able to find, or get help to find the correct location. I rented the truck at 6:30pm. I called the location the following day at 6:45pm. I spoke with the gentleman who checked the truck out to me. At that time I explained I didn't know that I was going to make it by 7pm. He told me not to worry, as long as I have the truck there before 7AM, I wouldn't be charged additionally. I received my bill and was charged additionally.

I called the location. The GM Susan Fuller answered the phone. I explained what had happened and that I'd been over charged. She proceeded to explain that I was trying to take advantage of the situation, and that she had no more time to talk to me about this petty matter. I asked if there was anyone else that I could talk to, and she told me that she was the GM/owner, and that there was no one else.

I am looking for an apology for bad customer service, as well as a refund for the charges of overages of $49.11.

I contacted the company Uhaul A1 Way and was really upset, because they staff was so rude with me. I have no idea why. They spoke with me in rude manner and asked to provide money only in cash, after that they refused to return it. I don’t know I really want money back and forget that I ever have any deals with these ###. Maybe someone has any ideas how to return money back, please contact me then or leave a comment. Thanks.

Repwest is earning their keep by not paying justified claims. They kept me on hook for 6 weeks and finally mailed a letter saying the claim was not valid. Attached pics tell the story

Well, what do ya' know? Affirmative Action does really work, as I tried the Email of the dedicated employee, and stirred up the flame a bit. Anyways, DO NOT give up Hope on your claim being not settled right. I am rescinding my "Being -given- the -run -around" Suspiscions/Avoidance Issues with Repwest Insurance Company, as my truck will soon be repaired. Also, this website is ASTRONOMICALLY helpful, and greatly appreciate the ability to vent my frustrations with "OTHER" concerned customers, Good Luck! I had everything I owned in a unit in Scranton PA (7/25/15 - 8/3/15) and their roof leaked ruining almost everything in my unit. I'm currently getting the run around by repwest and uhaul. Today an ajuster came to my home and took pictures and said don't get your hopes up, they take forever to payout if they payout at all. I contacted an attorney already and am contacting the insurance commissioner in the morning.
My repwest person refuses to return calls to myself or the manager of uhaul.

I feel just like the others that posted on this website, pertaining to Rep West Insurance Company's intentional avoidance to resolve issues and Claims against their client Uhaul of America. I had rented a Car Hauler, on 8/1/2015, and had the Company's Staff install the trailer on the back of my 2004 Cadillac Escalade, and after this staff person had went through the initial safety checks of checking coupler, and a tailights/signal light checks, give me the "Thumbs Up" to proceed away with such trailer. After I get home, which was a few miles from the rental center, located in Chandler, Arizona, I pulled out the loading ramps, and proceeded to load my Impala show car. Immediately the trailer lifted up, off of the hitch ball, and slammed into the back of my SUV, causing extensive damage to the rear of my taildoor, as you can only imagine what this would cause. I immediately notified Uhauls Emergency tow hotline and the customer service representative "noted" damage to the tow vehicle. Needless to say, it caused $5200.00 in Damage to my SUV, see pics, and I was given a Claim number, but after responding with all requested information by Rep West adjuster, now am getting the "avoidance" reply from their Adjuster, and Do have a really Family Attorney, if needed, but hopefully they will repair my vehicle, as soon as possible, as you can plainly see, the coupler was not tightened on the tow ball hitch, as was agreed upon ith the Uhaul store manager, , , LOL

Five months ago my truck was totaled by a U-haul they have been ducking and dodging me and my attorney ...What a bunch of clowns all I can say is my state has laws for this type of thing they will slap them with triple damages which they are responsible for paying an additional 8% interest per month on the total settlement ..

Here's a good source of information http://www.badfaithinsurance.org/index.html

RepWest is a fraud. My truck was hit by a U-Haul truck in an empty parking lot at my complex on June 28, 2014. Neither my lawyer nor myself can contact any of these idiots. Always voicemail with no return call. In the process of suing the people who rented the truck. Not something I want to do but my truck needs replaced. U-Haul is of no help neither. Will tell anyone moving do not use U-Haul!U-Haul and RepWest work together to rip off people that are due money. Will take legal action against both RepWest and U-Haul!

Rep West is definitely a rip off. I had a large storage unit for 4 years in NY. I took this lame, 3rd party insurance that I initially thought was a division of Uhaul. When I had incurred over 5k in damages and submitted a claim to RepWest, for over a 6 week period they went back and forth requesting information, photos and documentation. I submitted everything they asked for. In the end I got a letter from them that the rejected my claim. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO NOT COVER YOU SHOULD YOU NEED IT, BUT THEY WILL GLADLY TAKE YOUR MONEY EVERY MONTH.

Rep West Insurance is a complete scam... I had a Tow Dolly and the fender guard rail of the tow dolly made contact with my vehicle... Causing Damage... I reported the claim... had terrible customer service... I had to do all the work jumping threw hoops getting estimates, taking photos, etc. The damage wasn't event that much to repair... I had one estimate as low as $219... I was first told that the damage was too extensive to have happened while my vehicle was being towed and my claim was denied (Basically calling me a lyer) ... and that I should expect a letter in the mail... So when the letter came the reason was different than what was told to me in the email they sent... The letter said that they did not have to pay the claim b/c they are not responsible for improper packing or shifting of items... as if my vehicle was a card board box in the back of a moving truck or something... The uhaul website says safetow... Covers damage to your towed motor vehicle and cargo while being towed with any U-Haul equipment. That apparently is a lie. This company tried to think of every reason possible to not pay a claim... regardless of how much the claim is they will try to weasel out of it anyway possible... SUCH A SCAM!

This company should be investigated by the Insurance commissioner in the state of Florida. They have a pattern of misleading people when there is a legitimate claim.

Have two of the largest U-Haul rooms available, one for almost fourteen years, the other since last December. They are covered in mice/rat turds, the floors, my belongings -- and the two rooms are not near each other. Refused to pay last two rent fees and expect they may try to lock me out. An adjuster came, took photos (I had taken my own previously), and said the rooms need to be cleaned out. I noted they needed professional cleaners since the vermin turds carry numerous viruses and my belongings need to be cleaned by experts. The adjuster came up with a man hour figure for the work: $311.44. I told the insurance woman I would laugh if situation wasn't so serious and $311.44 wouldn't buy clean-up materials. The hallways have vermin droppings also, but U-Haul mopped the floors before the adjuster came (I have some photos of the turds outside other rooms). This is causing me much anxiety and I am not sure how I will proceed -- legally or going public w/newspapers and/or an action reporter. The insurance company has tried several tactics to insinuate that I caused the problem in both rooms. Anybody have suggestions.

I had everything I owned ruined by UHaul storage. I have an 18 inch water mark on a Teak bar, that's not a leaky roof, that's a down pour! I had rodent damage, nests in eaten shoes, mold on everything, clothes ruined, photos and painting irreparably ruined! My whole life was in storage because I was jobless for 3 years and had to rent a room until I found income. I couldn't afford the extra expense of insurance, I struggled to make the storage rental fee, but I did it and was never late. I finally found work, saved bought a little house, so happy to get my things again and my God, every box came of the rental truck, destroyed, moldy and stunk to high heavens! Meg Wilauer sent out insurance adjusters, all they could say was "this claim is huge". As soon as she got the picture of the extent of damage, she stopped answering calls, no emails, ran me ragged when she did respond for values of each and every item and then after months of begging her to resolve she tells me my case went to the Marketing Manager for UHaul. What kind of BS is that? When I questioned who he is and how I get a hold of him, she sends me a rejected letter, I didn't buy the insurance, I am out of luck! I could have left everything in my back yard, saved thousands of dollars and gotten the same result with my things. It sounds like there is a pattern of abuse and unwillingness assume responsibility for their negligence within the whole cooperation. My experience happened in Hanover, MA. The thing is, the roof didn't leak, there was serious damage, they had to have repaired it and did not bother to notify the people who rented storage spaces under the damaged area. You don't get an 18 inch water line from a puddle! It was floating, why would they ignore the people with units, unless they only notify the people with insurance, those people they will have to pay. My life has not been the same since. Depression, crying jags, lack of sleep, I even fell off a ladder throwing my things in the back of truck to take to the recycle center like so much trash, I ended up in the hospital with my elbow broken in 2 places, my arm will never be straight again. Thank you U-Haul, may all your executives and management rot in hell!

I finally got paid out for my claim after almost three months. I had to go to the very too of the claims department. I contacted Kathy Dumke-Zappavigna via email. She responded within the hour and then she had the elusive Mr. Jack Sampson call me shortly after. I recommend contacting her with your claim because you won't get any answers or results dealing with anyone else. Her email is on they site but here it is anyway. Klzappavigna@rep west.com Hope this helps.

I can't believe I am reading such similar complaints! I pulled into a parking spot and while my daughter and I were still in the car a Uhaul truck hit the side of my car and took out the drivers side mirror. I pulled out and started high beaming to try to get the driver to pull over. I followed for almost 10 miles (dumb, i know!) and had my daughter call Uhaul and gave the truck # and license plate # and was given the contact number for Rep West Ins. Then called 911 and explained I was following a Uhaul that just hit my car and was told to pull over and stop following the Uhaul. I waited for the police and when they showed up and saw my mirror they said I needed to go back to the town it was hit and file a police report, which I did. Over a month has passed now and I am being told they cannot get in touch with the person who rented the Uhaul because the mail they send keeps coming back but they were doing an information search to try to locate the rented. Today I was told they sent out correspondence and will give the rented 2 weeks to respond and admit guilt or else they will have no choice but to deny me for any compensation for my mirror because of lack of evidence proving the Uhaul hit my car! Really?! How can this be legal?

I'm basically having the exact same problem and I also asked the driver to call but no luck as it is next to impossible to get anyone on the phone. Also the driver isn't exactly looking to go out of her way to help me. I don't understand why they need to speak to her if they have all the info. This is the absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with. Several times I have spoken to my adjuster (Wendy Wayne) about contacting the driver and she'll tell me (I'll call her in a few minutes and call you right back). Many days and many calls by me later I finally get her on the phone and she says (oh sorry I've been too busy and haven't called). REAllY? So my claim just isn't important? This company is a complete pile of crap! I will be speaking to an attorney next week.

Exactly, i was told the same thing from an adjuster. Thank God the driver and my uncle exchanged info at the scence, because come to find out the lady that hit us says no adjuster or investigator has tried calling her and i had to ask her to call them myself because thats what i was told and they are using it as an excuse not to fix my car. She called weeks ago and im still sitting here with a totaled car!

I am having the same problem. My car was hit by a woman driving a U haul truck at 2:30 am. The driver took off and I had to chase her down. I got her info and submitted the claim the next morning 11/10/12. Today is exactly two months later and no resolution. I can call any of the extensions at any time for the Arizona branch and all go to voicemail and all my voicemails go un answered. Whenever I do get my adjuster on the phone after basically calling non stop she acts like the busiest person in the world and rushes me of the phone with the same BS answer saying she still needs to speak to the driver of the rental. How hard is it to make a five minute phone call? I am having to drive without a side view mirror because of this BS. Soooooooo F*****G PISSED!

Hi, what's happened then? Any result? I had same problem with them. One u-haul truck hit my car when my car was in the parking spot. The driver left me all insurance information and Mr. Jack Sampson from Repwest Insurance company, Arizona asked me to submit several documents. But he elapsed, no reply, never pick up my phone and always on voice mail. And he changed my claim status on u-haul truck claim website closed.

My claim was submitted 6/10/11. The adjuster, Phillip D'angelis stated he can take as long as he wants just as long as he updates me that nothing has changed. I stored ALL my possessions for 2 months while relocating. The roof leaked and I lost just about everything. I am devestated. My kids are sleeping on air mattresses, no dressers to put the survived clothing. Oh ya, and now they cant complete the leak investigation because the unit has been occupied. When I told them how dare they do this to someone else, I was told- well, maybe the roof was fixed. Well then now where is the proof? Contact the Arizona Dept of insurance that regulates them. [protected] or www.azinsurance.gov. I also filed with the BBB. I will be seeking an attorney next.
