I recently adopted a 6 year old border collie mix. I saw online that pet insurance starts at $30 per month. However, my quote came out to be $757 PER MONTH. This doesn't seem right at all. Other pet insurance plans range from $38 to $100 depending on the company. It feels like they are misleading customers with their advertised prices. It's truly unbelievable. Wow!

They raised my premium by 35% after I've been a customer for 3 years. They also didn't cover any of my claims over the years, including a broken bone that my dog had, 'cause he had broken a bone before, even though it wasn't related. Don't waste your money and make the same mistake I did.

I've had my dog insured with Trupanion since she was a puppy. The rates didn't raise that much at first. They went up every year and actually, based on the rate, went up quite substantially, going from $40 to $100 a month. I never had to use the policy that was, of course, there just in case something went wrong with her. In the last two years, I have had to get a *** surgery and a *** surgery for her airway, and wouldn't you know it, my premiums jumped from $100 to $136 last year, and just this month they are now going up to $165 a month. ***, but I am completely disgusted with the fact that they are making such outrageous rate increases *** I've paid into for 7 years. Be warned.

My cat was diagnosed with ***. The vet told Trupanion on two separate occasions that my cat's *** is not a pre-existing condition. They've sent me email updates regarding my claim. On their e-mails, they kept on calling the claim, a claim for *** I've told them repeatedly to stop calling this claim a claim for ***. Call it by it's correct name: A claim for ***. *** is an infection. *** is a buildup of pressure on the eye. If left untreated, it leads to blindness. These people don't listen. They kept on calling it a claim for ***. Still, I kept reminding them that the claim is for ***. *** and *** are 2 very different things. *** I told them that a broken nail is not the same as a broken arm. Trupanion declined the claim. I find their decision shocking because I felt it was unjustified and unethical. I've cancelled my insurance with them. My advice to those looking at Trupanion for pet insurance: Run away. Don't get reeled in by Trupanion's 30 day free trial promotion, and that you will receive a 90% reimbursement. You won't get it. Instead of paying a high deductible and a high monthly premium, open a bank account specifically to pay for your pet's medical and dental care then deposit money regularly in it. For instance, instead of paying $60 a month to Trupanion, put that in the bank account. You will be better off for it.

Trupanion admitid to overchargin us for pet insurance $30 per month but they wont give us a rebate.

I filed my first claim with Trupanion for my dog havin back pain and an ear infection. When I got the money back letter, they said they only gonna cover the back pain 'cause the ear infection is pre existing. That ain't true 'cause my dog never had an ear infection before this happened. They tried to say it's 'cause of his allergies, but that don't make no sense.

All claims for my pet under their policy have been denied, even though they should be covered. They said he had pre-existing conditions, but my vet confirmed that he didn't. I signed up with them during my first vet visit, and they were supposed to cover everything from that point on. However, they have given invalid reasons for denying every claim.

Recently, they denied all claims for emergency care, claiming that the condition is 100% preventable according to their terms. But that's not true, and my vet confirmed it as well.

To make matters worse, they raised their rates to $167 per month with a $200 deductible. This is much higher than when we first enrolled on 12/21, and it's also higher than what other pet insurance companies charge.

Over the past 2.5 years, they have only covered $9. None of the claims they rejected had valid reasons. Myself and my vets have tried appealing multiple times, but they refuse to budge.

I signed up my puppy for a Trupanion pet insurance policy many years ago when he was just a few months old 'cause Trupanion said rates wouldn't go up as he got older. But that's not what happened. Since my pup started to get older, Trupanion has been raising the monthly premium every year. When I argue about it each year, they give me a different reason. One year they said it was 'cause claims in my area went up and they had to hike up the premiums to balance it out. They said the same thing the next year. They also blamed the pandemic for one year. And now they're saying it's 'cause of supply chain problems. The only thing that stays the same is the rates going up, year after year. At this point, I'm paying way more each year than what my vet bills actually cost. I want this dispute settled, the puppy rate I was promised when I signed up brought back, and I want to be compensated for all the extra money I've paid in increased premiums over the past few years.

I signed up with this pet insurance company cuz they say that the prices don't change based on how old or sick your pet is or how many claims you make. I didn't make any claims for two years and the price stayed the same. But now my dog is 13 years old and got sick, so I made some claims and Trupanion raised my policy to $381.86 for the whole year. I asked them to show me the info from my file that proves why they raised the price, 'cause it seems like they're going back on what they advertise. They say they don't raise prices 'cause of age, sickness, or claims, but I want proof. I only want public and personal file info, not confidential stuff. But they won't give it to me. I think they're lying in their ads and they do charge more when dogs get sick or when you make claims. I just want evidence that they're not lying by showing me my file info that explains the price increase. But they won't do it.

I've been a Trupanion client for a long time now. I'm really tired and disgusted with how their prices keep going up all the time! They claim that premiums don't increase because of claims, but honestly, that seems really questionable to me! My premiums started at $63, then went up to $72, and now I just got a notification that it's going up to $82! I have to pay a $400 deductible for every new issue, even for each tooth! They don't cover any exams or preventive measures. The premiums keep going up by big amounts, and it's becoming really unaffordable. This is not what they told me when I signed up. They said premiums wouldn't increase, but they clearly are! They say it's because veterinary costs are rising, but I don't think that's true. Increasing premiums by $20 per month is a huge jump! It's not acceptable, but unfortunately, I'm stuck with Trupanion because of how pet insurance works. I won't use Trupanion for any future pets, including my new kitten that I just adopted! I stopped recommending Trupanion to anyone after my last premium increase.

I signed up my dog *** for Trupanion pet insurance on 9/21/2022 with a $700 deductible. In late November 2022, I noticed a lump on her head and took her to the vet. The vet examined her and performed surgery. They submitted the claim for me, and the total cost was $963 (I paid $700 plus the exam fee, and Trupanion paid around $260). The vet said the lump was likely caused by sodium in ***'s blood and recommended a follow-up exam one month after the surgery. So, the vet helped me send an estimate to Trupanion, and we received a pre-approval letter from them on Dec 29, 2022. According to the letter, Trupanion would cover 90% of the total cost, which was $224.6, amounting to $202.14. However, after we did the exam, Trupanion refused to reimburse the fee and considered it a new issue. But the vet said it was the same issue, and we had the pre-approval. I appealed this decision, but Trupanion still declined. I would appreciate your assistance in asking Trupanion to honor their pre-approval and cover the fee. Otherwise, what organization can I report this issue to if they continue to refuse?

On 22-01-25 at 11:30 am, I talked to this guy Phil from Trupanion 'bout pet insurance. We agreed on a quote with unlimited claim amount, $500 deductible for $99.23 taxes included monthly. Later in the day, I checked my credit card statement and they charged me $135.98. They said it was for some one time fee, but nobody told me 'bout that when we talked on the phone. So, I called Trupanion and talked to another guy who said he couldn't do nothin' and gave me a number to call. I thought it was a complaint line or customer service, but it was just another sales guy. This second guy said there ain't no exceptions to the policy and they could get fined if they waived the fee. I used to work in sales, and I felt like they were lyin' to me. If they had mentioned the fee, I wouldn't have a problem payin' it. But they didn't say nothin' and didn't try to fix the problem. So, I called another insurance company and asked 'em if they have any fees, and they said no. Later, I checked the documents Phil sent me after our phone call and saw a line 'bout the fee, but he didn't mention it when we talked.
