The Marketplace (Affordable Care Act)

I have had to use Marketplace for a few years now and it is basically useless. I pay a monthly deductible of over $800 but the out of pocket is still over $6000. I have been denied medications and services on several occasions because BCBS would not cover them under the Marketplace program.

They denied a request for the Covid medication and said if I wanted it I had to pay $1500 for it myself. They have denied at least two of my therapist's recommended medications and then suggested alternative medications I had already taken and were ineffective. My latest incident was an eye medication prescribed by my doctor. It too was declined as the only pharmacy in my area that carried it was not in network. Again I was told that BCBS had dropped that pharmacy because the plan was through Marketplace and if I wanted the medication I would have to pay $3000.

I have to budget for about $11,000 a year to cover premiums, prescriptions, regular checkup's, etc. How does Marketplace expect most people to prepare for this expense each year.
