Going to post this now and normally I don't do this but if you are looking for a pet or a foster do not I repeat do not Partner with Stumptown Pet Rescue. The last week has been nothing but a horror show and the last few days it has taken everything in me to not blow up and bring myself down to the level of petty and selfishness that I have seen. I was handed a dog to foster as I was looking to adopt and decided to foster first to get my feet wet and following advice from OHS ( Oregon Humane Society ) I took a puppy as I need this animal for medical purposes and yes you can train a animal on your own for such things ( thanks Youtube.) unfortunately this animal died due to natural causes as the Dog was very sick and everyone involved was even told that she probably died from being so infested with ticks. I did everything in my power to help her and she passed but she knew love.

I was offered another dog much older ( a year ) to foster and was interested but also dealing with things from kiddo's school and on top of all of that, I was accused of everything to mishandling the dog to poisoning her. ( the one that died.) Keep in mind that when she first started showing signs of something wrong I was denied the right to take the dog to a vet and discouraged from even taking her to Petsmart for a free examination and when she got worse the leader of this rescue refused to take her to a vet. Stating and I quote " They are are just going to euthanize her anyway if you take her in " I took a few steps back as my son had gotten very attached to this puppy ( and as far as I knew she wasn't sick at all otherwise I wouldn't have taken her ) and didn't want to rush into anything. Expressed interest a few times but nothing came of it and when I expressed in a polite manner of my sadness over the handling of even setting up a meeting with this other dog it was used against me ( Even tho I have screenshots )

Stumptown is not organized at all and there is so much blame that is passed around when things go wrong that it is not funny. Apparently folks me waiting on the foster parent of a dog to get back to me and her never doing it is me being a liar about showing interest and apparently dogs can die from nylabones and being fed only pumpkin and sweet potato( as far as Human food goes.) Even tho at one point the lady who runs this thing admitted that she should have set me up to bottle feed instead of insisting that I give the puppy wet food. The folks that work that rescue do not take responsibility for their actions ( or lack thereof ) Nothing is ever their fault. I If anyone from this rescue approaches you to adopt or foster. Say no it's not worth the headache or the time lost or frustration if you wish to foster go to OHS or another rescue or shelter. DO NOT go here. Do not let your kids get attached to these animals and for the goddesses, sake do not take anybody who is working with these folks at their word. When it suits you they will stab you in the back.

I'm shocked at your story because I have volunteered with Stumptown Pet Rescue & that is not their style at all. They are a registered tax-exempt organization that drives to reservations down south in AZ, NM etc & hand picks dogs with great temperaments. The head of the rescue is very caring & particular about the homes the dogs are given to. I think you may have them confused with another rescue because all you would have to do if a dog is sick from ticks is pick them off & put them in a jar of alcohol. Why didn't you do that?
