I want to complain about SRN Home improvements due to their dishonesty, bad practices and deceptive advertising. This is one of those companies who sent sales representatives to your house and spent hours and take no for an answer. They selling point for me was the matter of getting a full Marley Eternit high quality roof backed up by a 10 year Guarantee. However, SRN Home Improvements is sending bad roofers to do the jobs and they ignore the customer once they get paid. I have been complaining since the roof was just 18 hours old! The roof was finished on Friday 20/03/2020 around 7pm and it was too dark to see the roof well. Their accountant was calling non-stop to get paid even when the roof was not finished yet. I think they feared I would not pay if I saw the job finished. I paid because, among other things, they reassured me again and again about their 10 year guarantee. Next morning in daylight I checked the roof properly and indeed I was not happy with the job. I immediately sent my first email on 21/03/2020 complaining about a faulty roof which does not comply with BS 5534. They ignored me so I had to send them several emails. Months later, in July 2020, they sent someone to see the roof and he said it was just an aesthetic problem. It was not. Then our nightmare started. In April 2023, we noticed significant water damages caused by water leaks due to the faulty roof in several parts of the house. I sent an email on 25/04/2023 explaining all about these water leaks and water damages, which was not responded. Then I decided to hire a professional company to prepare a technical report to prove the roof was faulty, full of defects and unfit for purpose. I got the report. It confirmed the suspicions I had since the first day back in March 2020. That was evident and obvious for any professional. I sent an email on 10/07/2023 about this to SRN and since then they have been playing games to avoid their responsibility and liability even though the installation manager admitted it was a bad roof. During the roof installation they damaged the existing roof window so he said it was going to be replaced as it cannot be repaired. Months passed and they did nothing about it. I sent the director of the company a formal complaint on 02/10/2023. The installation manager said he was going to send someone to repair it. The same bad roofer who did it in first place came to see the roof on 28/10/2023 and he said it would be repaired tohgether with a new window on 04/11/2023. He did not turn up. I sent another formal complaint on 11/11/2023 asking for a refund given their inability to repair but I id not get any proper response from them and even less a solution because they are unable to repair the roof to a proper standard and they do not want to give me a refund. Clearly SRN guaranteed products is a big lie, the salesman’s representations about a Marley Eternit high quality roof backed up by a 10 year Guarantee was not true, the SRN 10 year Warranty I have on paper and the 10 year guarantee on SRN website is useless and also SRN Complaints Policy is not followed at all by them. During the brief conversations with the installation manager it transpired they have also had problems with other roofs done by this bad roofer who came to see our roof back in July 2020. The worrying matter is that our roof was done by another bad roofer in their team and not the one who came to see the roof in July 2020. Apparently they have hired several cowboy roofers to do jobs in Glasgow and throughout Scotland. They know about those problems but they do nothing about it. A roof which is clearly faulty and unfit for purpose, which is already causing damages to the property, which in turn will damage the whole structure of the roof making it unsafe, working practices which are contrary to relevant regulations… all this fits the description of builders negligence in addition to clearly breaching building standards. But that is not all, clearly SRN guaranteed products is a big lie as well as their 10 year guarantee. They do not want to honour their warranty. That is clearly deceptive advertising and misleading selling.

Claimed loss: £5,300 (roof) + roof window + water damages

Desired outcome: As I do not trust their skills and competence to repair the roof, so I would like to get a refund for the money I paid for this bad roof and also a compensation for the broken roof window and water damages.
