SME, Inc. USA I got a call from some collections company saying I owed money for a shoulder brace

I got a call from some collections company saying I owed money for a shoulder brace. They kept saying I owed money for a shoulder brace. But I never got a bill for a shoulder brace and my insurance doesn't have any record of a claim from this company. I know my insurance covers this kind of stuff. So I asked the guy for a number to call and figure out why they never submitted the claim. He just said it's too late to submit it and if I want their number, I gotta Google it.

SME charged me $84 for a TeePee Thumb Protector that you can get for $25 at a regular store. We got the TeePee from Duke Urgent Care and they didn't tell us that someone else would bill us. SME's first reply was that Medicare approved the cost, and if we had an issue, we should talk to Medicare. If that's true, it's like they're ripping us off legally. SME doesn't even have this item on their website, so we don't know what they charge people without Medicare. They offered a 20% discount, but we said no (still 2.5 times the regular price). They gave us a "take it or leave it" offer for 24 hours, or we'd have to pay the original price. It would be great if ComplaintsBoard.com could help us get SME to charge a fair price for the TeePee.

SME, Inc. USA I got a bill from SME, Inc

I got a bill from SME, Inc. and it's so confusing. They didn't even say what they do or why they're charging me, just an amount and a past due amount. I talked to my foot doctor's office twice about it, and both times they said they don't share patient info and they don't do billing like that. When I called SME, they said I signed something letting them charge me, but I only signed stuff at the foot doctor's office. They're basically saying I owe money for an ankle boot that my insurance already paid for. It's definitely a scam. They probably got my info in a sneaky way and now they're trying to trick me into paying for something I don't owe.

SME, Inc. USA I got an arm brace from Southeastern orthopedics on November 30th

I got an arm brace from Southeastern orthopedics on November 30th. It was authorized by community Care through the veterans administration. They gave it to me during my post surgery appointment when they removed the cast and sling. They told me to sign to confirm that I received it. Nobody mentioned that I would have to pay for it. The billing should have been sent to the VA since I had community Care authorization for the surgery and the brace was necessary for my post-surgery care and rehabilitation. The document I signed didn't mention the cost of the brace, but it didn't matter at the time because the VA or Southeastern orthopedics should have been billed, not me. I want them to stop sending me the bill and send it to the VA or Southeastern orthopedics instead.

SME, Inc. USA I never got no service or ordered nothin' on that day

I never got no service or ordered nothin' on that day. The bill don't even say what the bill is for. Seems fishy and like a scam. They're chargin' me for service on 08/31 for $229.23, plus $15 late fee - and I never ordered nothin' or got any service from this company on that day. The bill don't even say what the charge is supposed to be for. The bill says my Account Number is XXXXXX and the Invoice Number is XXXXXXX. I went to the website to see what SME is, and I never ordered, never got, or went to a medical place where I was given any of the stuff sold by SME. I ain't got no clue why they're billin' me. My conclusion is that this company is tryin' to trick me into payin' a fake bill; my impression was that this was a scam to take advantage of folks who will think this is a real bill and will assume they owe money and pay the bill. The bill don't even have my right name, so, I know this ain't nothin' I legitimately ordered or authorized. This is really, really sketchy and smells like a scam.
