I just discoverd 4 years later that a tubal reversal that was done on me in jan06 was not performed correctly. I have pictures of the sutures that were used and so you can only guess how the rest of my tubes looks. You see the white piece sticking out. Thats the sutures used
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I am going in august and This has helped alot I Guess u take the good with the bad.
I am truly interested in the tr with dr perez. i am wondering if any one can share some kind of information on the cost? How much more expensive is it than the actual cost of 2, 500 it displays on the website and about how much more it would cost? Thanks in advance!

I am 29, I got my tubal ligation 4 years ago after delivering my third daughter who just turned 4. Yesterday I went to Rio Bravo to check out the hospital. Every was very clean. Everything looked real good. I scheduled my appointment for this coming Wednesday. With God's will everything will go well.

I went 2/22/14 and I had a blast Levi and Sergio and Jose were my fave people thru the experience. My husband was with me the whole time. I have 6cm on each side and I was cut tied and burned also called parkland tubal ligation.. Healing great feeling like I never had surgery!

My wife and I just went for a reversal a while ago, and I think I can answer most of the questions here.
We were picked up at the airport, and brought across the Mexican border. Passports were not required at this point. Was there Poverty? Yes. Crime? We saw absolutely none. After a 15 minute ride, we arrived at the hospital.
The hospital is not what a lot of Americans are used to seeing. By American standards, it might be classified as a clinic. From what I saw, it contained no more than a dozen rooms. The room we were in contained; a bed, futon, prep room, and bathroom/shower.
Consultation - Dr. Levi will come in with a nurse, draw a small amount of blood, and spend as much time as it takes to get all the questions and answers out of the way. He's very thorough and courteous. Later, an EKG is performed.
Cleanliness - The place is extremely clean. I think they mop the floors about 5+ times per shift! (and free Wifi.)
Food - Real Mexican food. Made by real Mexicans! (Their version of a Hamburger is damn good! - so is everything else!)
Staff - The staff was great. Although, very few of them speak English, if you have a basic understanding of Spanish, it will make things that much easier, but it's not required. A smile, "please" and "thank you" is understood by everyone.
The procedure - The techniques they use aren't used as much in American medicine, but it doesn't mean they're any less effective. Prior to the procedure, you're prepped, and wheeled to the operating room, an IV is started, Midazolam is administered, and you're back is cleansed around the site of the epidural. A catheter is also put in place. (Midazolam makes you comfortable, carefree, dulls the memory, and is the first step in the sedation process.)
Doctors Perez, Levi, Jose, the anesthesiologist, and a nurse are in the operating room.
At this point, the doctors welcome the boyfriend, husband, travel partner into the O.R. (You must wear scrubs, and you are allowed to take pictures.)
Just prior to the procedure, Diprivan* (Propofol) is administered, further sedating the patient. From here in, the anesthesiologist monitors heart-rate, blood pressure, and breathing. (Having a very basic understanding of medicine also made me feel at ease.) Diprivan*, Midazolam, and Atropine were within inches of the patient at all times.
*One poster mentioned that there was burning around the IV site when the Diprivan was administered. This is a common side-effect, and nothing to worry about. Diprivan is very fast acting, and wears off quickly. Some patients will regain partial consciousness as the Diprivan wears off during the procedure (my wife did), but the epidural takes care of the pain, and the Midazolam erases any memory of it, and the anesthesiologist steps in, and puts you right back to sleep.
A very small incision is made (approx 2 inches / 7cm - 8cm) in the belly, the tubes are located, and repaired. From the time of entering the O.R, to the time of leaving, was approximately 90 minutes. Actual surgery time, about 30-40 minutes. Quick and easy!
Following the procedure, the patient is brought back to their room (epidural still in place), and allowed to watch TV, and drink some liquids. The doctors tell you, "If you experience any pain, let us know." As the day went on, a little bit of soreness set in. I notified the nurse (Sergio), and medicine was given. (Sergio was a great guy and funny!)
The following day, it's time to go home!
The shuttle driver (Armin) drives you back to the U.S. This is where you need your passport, or passport card. The guards at the border are a hard working group. Be polite, and you'll be done in less than 5 minutes.
If you've flown in to McAllen, get a room at the Marriott, which is approximately 1/2 - 1 mile from the airport, and spend the night. My wife was feeling up to walking around, so we went for lunch at Tony Roma's, and then stopped at the shoe store between the hotel and restaurant.
Two points of interest - Bring a stool softener. (No straining on the toilet! - Or you'll find yourself back in the hospital for another procedure!) Secondly, the vending machine reads, "$10.00" for a can of Coke. Not realizing that they use the "$" for Mexican Pesos, I couldn't get away fast enough! (I later found out $10.00 Pesos equates to $.75 USD - Oops!)

Hello, my husband and I are in the process of scheduling. I have a few questions of anyone non bias.
-Violence? Was it out of the ordinary of what you see around the states? Yes I hear of drug wars border wars etc., I live in Texas and we have the same type of stuff going on here. So in a nutshell, did you fear for your life?
-Cleanliness? What was the atmosphere like?
-Staff? Did they tend to your needs/wants? Where you awake and oriented throughout procedure? Or was it similar to when you had the ligation done? Did you have to sleep in the hospital? Was it scary or out of the ordinary from a hospital here in the states.
-Epidural- I didn't even have this when I had my son, is this necessary? If it is not required, am I going to be in a lot of pain?
-Passport: I have birth certificate and ID, do I still need a passport?
-Dr's? Well just calling into Rio bravo, I was able to speak to a live doctor right then and there, I believe his name was Dr. Levi, he was very soothing and informative. He actually relieved a bunch of stress and questions. The only ackward moment was when I tried my hand at speaking Spanish and come to find out he spoke perfect English.
I am pretty sure I want to go this route, I understand that nothing is guaranteed, not even here in the states. Even if the do the reversal 100% right, you still face that chance of not conceiving. I just want to know from someone who in recent past has gone there.

I'm planning on going by March but now i have to apply for a passport, cause i don't have one neither my husband n i didn't know we needed one . I know if is God's wishes we will have a few babies and my faith over this is big. My husband has no children and i would love to be the one his baby mommy.

i am a patient of rio bravo reversals. I am on the main forum page as well, i've never had my post, stories or comments altered, whether good or bad. I went in june 2012, and im 7wks pregnant. i had a wonderful experiance and i also have pictures and video of my tr surgery. I never saw any wrong doing or any type of filth. The hospital was very clean and my room had its own a/c so i was super cool. I was and felt as if i was at home. would recommend rio bravo reversals to anyone.

I went to Rio Bravo last week for my tubal reversal everything went very smooth. The nurses were very nice but the language barrier was not horrible because the doctor checked on me often. Overall I feel me and my husband made the right decision in going there. The doctor told us we had to wait 2 weeks to even have sex and 2 months to try and conceive other websites say you can try immediately... But we will try and follow doctors orders :)
I am sorry for your bad experience, but I went there in 2007 for a TR and mine went good. my only complaints are that the nurses did not speak english and no one came in to give me pain meds during the night so I ended up giving myself more of the epidural med, just a tiny bit when it would become unbearable. and the ride from the hospital to the airport was ruff due to road construction
. but other then that it went good. for me it was successful I was left with 6-7cm on both sides, I had a HSG which showed both tubes are open and the HSG doctor commented that it looks the the TR doctor did a excellent job, I have been pregnant twice now but both ended in early miscarriage. overall I am happy I went to rio bravo reversals. there is no way I could have ever afforded one here.

yes the passport would be needed to cross to the USA still being a citizen but as long as you have the paper that says that you aply for the passport you could still pass and you need your birth certificate and ID BYE HOPE THIS answers your questions

well this is dr levi we are sorry about your experience but we never neglect you for extra meds or the latex but you are right you can talk and write all you want and the pictures say a million things just like the ones send to us from other hospitales that you try to say it was from this hospital. so all together people are entitled to go anywere you want and do encourage you to go were your hearth tell you to go bye
I really wanna go and get a reversal in mexico, but I see some one put they spent 21, 000. An I was going there because I thought it was cheaper.
I had my reversal in 2007 with DR Perez, no problems at all. Both tubes are open but I have secondary infertility. I am sorry to hear about the one or two out of the hundreds of reversals he does that go bad..

I don't think these girls are liars. I think they need to be heard and validated. For those of you that have had a very bad experience with Dr. Perez, I am truly sorry for your pain and what you have been through. I truly believe that you would rather be doing other things than spending time on this website. My heart goes out to you girls. I hope you are able to find a resolution. Hugs and blessings.
Just because someone has a bad experience is no reason to bash. If they are so good of doctors why do they bann people for telling the truth. Why do they refuse to return phone calls to the patients doctors and emails to the patients and doctors.? Why did they cut off my right tube without my permission. I had a similar experience with the so called support group, you are right. If you say something, they block you.
Well I have to say that Dr. Perez is a very good dr. and for the people saying he aint need to stop lying saying he is a bad dr cause he will tell u when he does the tr that there isnt no 100% that u can have a baby and he will do what he has to do to try to give u the gift of another child. He is the best! Thanks Dr. Perez for all u have done !
Did you feel safe going over there? I have seen so much violence on the news about Mexico so I want to know about the safety of the drive there and back.
Dr. Perez did my reversal in March of 2010 and got pregnant in October of 2010! He's a wonderful doctor and I would go back to see him in a heartbeat! :-) Reversals are not 100% guaranteed, no matter who your doctor is.
i had a reversal done by Dr. Perez in November of 2009. I went to my Dr. the other day and had an HSG done and the Dr said that whomever did your surgery did a very good job on your tubes. they were wide open and he said i healed nicely with no scar tissue. I thank God for Rio Bravo reversals and would reccommend him to others. It has a lot to do with the individual following the instuctions of the Dr. that can help in their healing. The Dr. is good and has made lots of dreams come true for several women. I've just finished school which is why i havent tried to conceive yet, but my Dr. gave me the go and said all is well to have another child. Thank you Dr. Perez...
i really think its just a gamble to tell the truth cause nobody can tell you weather its going to work or not but im getting ready now to the the tubal reversal cause my new husband wants a baby well we want a child together and im so willing to try it. but id love to have yalls comments on this and any dr thats good. it really seems that dr prez that had lots of sucess with the tubal reversal that he has done/
I know this woman and yes she did go to Dr. Perez, and yes she was not able to concieve~ but reversal surgery is not guaranteed!
I went a month after this woman and I now have 2 beautiful babies to show for my reversal with Dr. Perez. Dr. Perez has SO MANY success stories. I feel your pain Becky, at not having a successful reversal, but please don't bash the Dr... So many women benefit from him.
I went to Rio bravo with Dr Perez on march 2007 and by may 2007 i was pregnant..my friend went there same on november 2007 and by january 2008 was pregnant..today my son is almost 3 years and my friends son is 2 years and she is pregnant again if i were you i would check if something else is wrong since this procedure is not 100 percent accurate and some patients have other medical issues...anyway i recommend Dr Perez 100 percent he is awsome...
I am interested in this procedure--were you able to get pregnant--why is the procedure wrong? showing stitches means little to the person looking for a reversal--why is it wrong? what would be right? Can you provide more info- this is a serious question-I am looking to do this reversal outside of US
