Uphold Uphold is an organized mess- Total chaos

Uphold greatly lacks Configuration Management and has no Conduct of Operations. Uphold touts and has all the right wording to make you believe that this is a well oiled operating company. But unfortunately, it operates as if there is only one person doing all the work where it normally takes several efficient working professionals to successfully accomplish many transactions for customers. My personal experience has been absolutely horrendous with just the second deposit which locked up my account for four (4) months and then placed my account under some sort of review. The review lasted another three (3) months. Then the Uphold review determined that my account needed to be closed and then uphold would refund my money back to my bank account. It is now going on two months and my funds still have not been transferred. Believe me I have been emailing customer support asking when my funds will be deposited. Uphold has consolidated all 30 of my emails under one (1) trouble ticket number and is under some review. Sooooooo, if you enjoy this type of nonsensical business practice then go for it. Don’t say you were not warned!

Uphold Pros and Cons

Pros: Easy to use, easy to setup and get verified.
Cons: When you purchase with debit card or credit card they still hold your crypto! Their website states no hold and you pay high basis points fees but I just tested yesterday with $500 debit card purchase and placed in a separate folder under my accounts and tried to withdraw and it says 33 day hold before I can transfer to BITRUE which represents the amount of days remaining from when I purchased with bank ACH for the other accounts. My ticket number that I submitted to Uphold several days ago is 1160831 and this issue is still not resolved. Not happy at all about this. Also, 65 day hold if you use bank ACH to fund your account! It’s way too long when you have competitors like Binance.US that has 10 day hold. Uphold also has very limited amount of crypto coins, prices of crypto does not reflect live prices on coinmarketcap, you can’t place limit buy/sells, there is a $2,500 limit per day for ACH funding, and $500 per day for debit/credit card funding. The only reason I initially placed some bags with Uphold is because they had XRP but I do not recommend them for other coins.

Thanks for sharing your feedback Mom22853. The 65 day cool down only applies to US banks via the ACH Network if you wish to send your funds to an external crypto network. There's no cooldown if you deposited via debit/credit card or wire, please update the review with your support ticket number and we'll take a closer look, thanks!

Uphold Do yourself a favor and use another app

After having problems with Robinhood, I decided to look for other apps to try for crypto, and I decided to give uphold a shot since it was highly reviewed. Big mistake. I deposited 20 dollars as an initial deposit to test the waters and it’s a good thing I didn’t deposit any more than that, this app is total garbage. Not only are the market prices not accurate, but when you go to exchange currencies, they take a fee while claiming they have no trading fees. Not to mention I signed up back in January, changed my mind about using the platform and tried to withdraw the money. They restricted my account and made me wait 3 months before a customer service rep finally unblocked my account so that I could withdraw my money, which was also a hassle since they make you install an authentication app to withdraw. No authentication needed to deposit tho. This is by far the worst investing/crypto app I have ever had the displeasure of using, and I would give it negative stars if I could. If I had put a sizable amount of money instead of just 20 dollars I’d have considered taking legal action. I feel sorry for anybody who put in anymore than that.

Uphold FRAUD ALERT

I have now been waiting almost 48 hours for a response on deposited funds that being able to be used after a full week. Not even an email from a human being. This level of support is pathetic for any company, and management should be embarrassed.

48 hours, a dozen phone calls straight to voicemail, and 2 tickets later - nothing.

If you go on Trust Pilot, you’ll see many negative reviews about similar issues - which they seem to be responding to daily so I see no reason why I have been waiting so long to speak to a human being. There are even videos on YouTube.

There’s not a single positive thing about this platform at the moment: the fees are ridiculous, they steal your money and lock it away, and provide the absolute worst customer service of all time.

*UpdateI got the same stupid response telling me to provide the ticket number which IVE ALREADY DONE MULTIPLE TIMES.

“We appreciate your frustration” makes no sense at all.

“Big changes in the next few weeks and months” EMPHASIS ON MONTHS, because your support does not exist.

I submitted Ticket #1174477 on Monday 3/22 and it is now Friday, still not a single real person has gotten back to me. Garbage Company.

Uphold Never have had a good experience

I have used uphold for 2 years now, I am fully aware of all their changes to the services, in which they seem to like to change ‘willy-nilly’ for users and cause restrictions to your account. I have used various debits/credits in the past and never got restricted from purchases. However, I get a 3d secure message on the app that shows a blank message and does not seem to access my bank or send a notification. I believe they are running a scam. They have card information and these cards work. They send me emails saying my bank has declined this card yet, there is no proof in my bank account that these cards were even charged. I have already contacted my bank, I have made foreign transactions before no problem. This is ridiculous. They also have taken over 2 months for me to help access my account and I thought this was terrible service. I have multiple forms of proof of identity to my account and they were ignoring my emails on purpose during bullish runs with crypto and have cost me thousands of dollars already. I am not using this service anymore and I hope everyone stays away. There are better ways to invest in crypto and I see that they are behind the curve on all of them as well. do not waste your time.

Uphold Scam. Apple needs to remove the app ASAP

They stole $900 from me! I have been trying to remove my money off of Uphold for 2 weeks now.
The asked me to verify my account and I did, they asked me to verify my I’d and I did. I had to go on a Twitter rant just to get an email response. DON’T USE THIS APP! APPLE NEEDS TO REMOVE IT FROM THE APP STORE.

Look at all the reviews of customers like me with a similar story, I wish I had read the reviews myself. I have spoke with more than one person through email and all I get a generic messages. I have a kid and I was hoping to use that money for food this month. Uphold took that money from me. They only allow my account to buy in their platform but not an option to remove my money. I know have to report this to my bank as FRAUD.

Uphold I hope you get what you deserve for stealing from so many hard working people. Your company is an example of what bad business really is. Read these comments, you will not be around years from now because your reputation will be tarnished by shady business practices.

WARNING! DON’T USE UPHOLD! IT’S A SCAM

NOW THEY WILL ASK ME FOR MY TICKET NUMBER TO SAVE THEIR FACE SO CUSTOMERS THINK THEY ARE RESPONSIVE AND WILL TAKE ACTION.

They do the same thing to everyone but nothing ever actually changes. Watch!

Uphold Customer Service is the worst Ive ever experienced

I moved in May and changed my billing address at that time. Seems simple enough, but Uphold does not permit you to change ur billing address in their system only they can do that. Their customer service representative’s have no power to do anything (this isn’t a joke) All they can do is open a ticket. Ive had over 12 tickets since May for the same problem. They also limit the amount of times you can add the same credit card to your account which doesn’t sound bad unless their universal fix for billing issues is to tell you to delete your cards so your account doesn’t get an error when it resets the billing address. They never told me the limit was 3 even after I complained I had done it twice before. Even though I have access to my account and unless ticket submissions they still tell me I have to verify my billing address each time. Your experience will go something like this: Customer service rep conversation (CSR) Email Identity verification (EIV) They close ticket with nothing fixed without consent (CT) CSR + 1 day + CSR +EIV + CSR +CSR +1day + CSR + 2 weeks then CT Either you will experience this order of events above or the order of events below. CSR + 2 weeks then CSR + 2 days +EIV then 1 week then CT Each time this happens they won’t fix any issues

Uphold There are better exchanges

I first began with Uphold simply to buy and hold XRP since it’s one of the only in the US to still support it.
Many kinks if you want to use for anything other than that.
Your crypto will be held for 64 days before you can move to an external wallet so it can “cool off”. Over 2 months. You are informed of this, but seriously come on. Soldiers go through and complete basic training in that time frame.
You also need an additional app for 2 factor verification if you intend to withdraw funds out. It is not a simplified process. Another barrier for users which leads to funds being tied up on the exchange longer which I honestly think is the goal.

When you make a trade/transfer your given rate will not be what the current market rate is. Basically an expensive a la Coinbase type fee for a 2nd rate exchange.

They do get some cryptos listed before other exchanges. Sand, FTM etc…
Just be aware of what you’re getting into and evaluate your options. My most recent transfer for FTM was executed at .10 less per crypto than market value. Had I not been so preoccupied with getting it to actually work with the verification app I would have noticed but ultimately that’s on me. Still a hefty fee when I could have done the same on Binance.US for cents.

Get it together Uphold.

You can withdraw back to your bank account in just 4 days. If you are in a rush to withdraw your crypto, you can choose to deposit via debit/credit card or wire and there's no cooldown.

The reason we enforce 2-step verification is actually to protect our customers. We require this for all outgoing withdrawals to minimize anyone becoming compromised or stealing your funds without you knowing. Uphold THIEVES! Horrible App and Company

I opened my account 1 week ago today. Since day one it’s states that my account is under review. What this means is that I can purchase coin, but not trade, cash out, or transfer. Doesn’t seem right that they can hold my funds hostage. Numerous emails to Tech Support, just with an automated response that they have an overwhelming response. And can’t get to my issue. Their “chat” online always says nobody is available. So before you download. Be warned. Well how funny tech support can reply to this review but can’t address the 6 emails I’ve sent them. With screen shots. Ticket# 1054417.

Apple App Store, please look into dumping this app. They’ve stole money from me. Won’t reply to emails. But can reply to my review? Don’t be associated with them. Let Android have them.

Update 2/18
It has been 18 days since I opened my account with this company. Still no response to emails. And my account is still restricted. I have funds sitting in their possession, that I can’t do anything with. Do me a favor, don’t download this app. And let these people take your money.

Update 3/1
Almost one months to the date of opening my account with Uphold. I email them weekly and still no reply. Think twice before investing on this account. I’m documenting everything publicly. So they don’t steal your money too.

Uphold Beware of this shady company

I’ve tried this app for less than a month and ty to understand how this app work. Along the way, I got some free BAT coins, which I don’t know where it came from. After a month of realized, this app is not right for me. I have requested to close and delete my account. They says they can’t unless I move my BAT coins out of my account first. There was no option for me to send my coins to my other wallet but to convert it into cash and then transfer back it into my bank account. But, I refuse to provide my bank account or my card info on Uphold. I’ve requested them to cancel my account, along with a little bit of coins i have left in there. After more than a week while they’re reviewing my account, this is the response I’ve received from Uphold,

“ We’re sorry to tell you that after further review we can no longer offer you an account.

We’re a regulated business and sometimes have to make difficult decisions. Thanks for your understanding.”

What the heck are they talking about? All I’m asking them is to delete my account, not to open a new one. I think they’re only saying that to protect their reputation. Either way, I’m glad to be over with it. If you’re looking for a wallet, that you can buy, sell coins, or send and receive coins, I suggest you to look somewhere else as I found Uphold to be very worthless.

Uphold Please Read and Don’t be Me

I’ve been holding Xrp for some time now- nearly 20,000 of them to be exact. My account out of the blue recently came up as “under review” which I’ve had previously but it was just due to proof of address and small stuff like that- my assumption was an expired credit card/etc. I reached out only to be told that “ Based on a regular review of your account, we regret to inform you that we can no longer offer you an account.

We’re unable to disclose the reason for these reviews, or their outcome, and we fully appreciate how frustrating this can be.”

I was also told somebody would be in touch shortly to go over getting my refund and that somebody hasn’t reached out. I’ve hodled nearly 20,000 Xrp just to have my dreams shattered my uphold. I messaged and asked why the app still allowed me to deposited money til I was blue in the face but sending to another wallet or withdrawing my money was disabled…heck they’ll even let me convert my Xrp to another crypto. They then said they’d get me in contact with somebody to issue a refund. Since then I have yet to hear from a soul. They sent me an email with a link for reasons they may suspend your account and the reasons listed are incredibly vague and essentially say we can suspend or close your account for any reason and will keep you updated if/when you’re assets become available to you.

I DID NOT KNOW UPHOLD SENT EMAILS REQUIRING MY SOC SEC#.I’ve tried to login to my account a few times past month & enter 6 digit code sent to my phone sms.Then uphold iPhone app says We will send you an email to login but no email is sent. So I checked emails the past month & find out you restricted my account since Dec 2022. Didn’t uphold already require my social security number when I signed up?So why is Uphold requiring I submit it with a W-9.Thanks sincerely Michael

My email provider isn’t blocking emails. I received regular uphold emails till March 6 & emails are usually sent once a month around that date.I need to access my account to submit W9 & access my Shiba,etc

Uphold GOOD UNTIL IT WASNT

Ive had this account for 2 years now. The main reason I kept was to hold Xrp since it’s difficult to easily get now. Ive complied with all the new password making and google authentication uphold asks us to do. 2 days ago i logged into my account and all my assets were turned to Eth and sent to an unknown wallet a week prior. After sharing my horrible experience the rep told me not to worry and reassured me that my case was being brought to the highest department to find a solution. After 1 day of emailing back and forth, having to re explain what happened, and resetting my email password, i was sent to yet another representative named Mellisa. Only for her to just confirm that my account was hacked from multiple states. They said my google Authenticator was hacked which had to be confirmed through my email and to file a police report. I went thorough all my emails and the only email I have is money withdrawn to my bank or exchanging crypt into another within the platform. They literally just dragged my hopes for 2 days to throw the problem on police and for me to deal with. I went through the reviews and saw I’m not the only one this has happened to. I will be sharing my experience with people i introduced this platform to and on social media so that others are informed that uphold does not care or willing to help loyal uphold users if their accounts have been compromised.
