I wish I had found this link before I purchased my West Highland White Terrier. I was referred to Mary Burns by someone who had purchased 2 Westies from her several years earlier. If I had looked at her web-site I would have known because you don't breed that many dogs without it being a puppy mill. I purchased my Westie in Aug. 2012. Mary told be to bring a towel the day I picked her up because she had wormed her and she might have diarrhea. She also gave me a syringe containing 2 more doses of Albon which she said was for the diarrhea. I took all that in good faith but after 2 days of lose stool, I googled Albon to find out it was used to treat a bacterial infection of coccidiosis, a parasitic infection in dogs. I immediately took my puppy to the vet. They check her for worms and she was full of worms. She was treated by the vet and bless her heart she pooped worms for days. She has had multiple social issues. She ate her own poop which grossed me out. Mary told me it was normal for dogs to do that behavior. I have since read 2 books on that problem and dogs usually do that if they are malnourished, hungry or bored, which I think my puppy was all 3. She drank water like it was going out of style and I now believe she did not have access to water all the time. She would pee or poop in her bed and I now believe she learned that behavior because she had no other choice. It made it impossible to crate train her. It has taken months to work on all the problems but I can say we are making progress and after getting rid of the worms she has just done a complete turn around. I have never ask Mary to pay for vet bills but my issue today is that I still, 5 months later, have not received her AKC registration papers. I have called her and she assures me I will get them. For some reason I googled Tasso Farms, Cleveland, TN. and the complaints popped up along with her web-site. After my experience I am not surprised but very disappointed in Mary. She is not medically healthy and has no business having all the different types of dogs if she is unable to take care of all the needs of puppies including keeping them healthy. I am writing this so you will be aware of my experience with Tasso Farms, Mary Burns. If there is ever a next time, I will do things different and not buy from this breeder.
