State of Florida reviews and complaints

Soooooooo, after enduring 10 years of physical and emotional abuse by my ex husband, I finally gather the gall to leave this man. He is the father of my 13 year old son. I then have to go through countless occasions of drama with police back and forth, numerous restraining order hearings and then FINALLY applied for and was granted a divorce, all on my own dime mind you! My new form of abuse (rather neglect) comes from the state of Florida now. I am a single mom and HAD received public assistance for 3 months, while I was looking for a new job after picking up my entire life, going through all the savings I had, maxing out my credits cards to survive and moving away from my psycho stalker ex husband. I was required to put him on child support in order to get food stamps, that was fine at the time because I had no contact due to the restraining order with my ex, and wanted to keep it that way. I liked the idea of them being the middle person and getting my child support on time, or so I thought. My divorce got finalized, but boy did my ex get off the hook. It’s like the judge felt bad for him. I was the one beaten with pictures and proof of all of the occasions I got my butt whooped! The SOB went and got a lower paying job just to spite me for leaving him so he wouldn’t have to pay that much in child support, but he wants all the rights of a father such as visitation whenever he wants. And he got off paying $250 a month ONLY! I have to pay all health insurance and school costs and everything else. Don’t give me that garbage about everything is judged by a scale of what the custodial parent makes vs. what the non-custodial parent makes. He has a 2nd job he gets paid under the table working as a bookie, which is basically ILLEGAL! I brought this to the courts attention, and there was no physical proof or anything I could do to prove it! The judge who granted the divorce took it easy on him because he was crying and remorseful for all the things he "did", he showed the judge anger management paperwork saying he had changed and was a good father, yet he down talks me to my son every time he gets to see him. My son hardly wants to be around his father now because he is growing up and sees what a POS he really is. I have not once down talked his father and have always told my son that his dad loves him no matter what happened between us and not to take out divorce to heart. It is grown folks business. Once I started receiving the 250 a month in child support and had to go through my recertification with DCF, my food stamps were taken away from me because I had more income than what was allowed. My sons Medicaid was taken as well and they closed my case. ok fine, I have a decent job now where I can provide housing for my son, but after rent, car payment, and bills, I am in the negative and something always has to go unpaid! God forbid I miss a day of work and I am super in trouble! But I NEED my child support to put food on the table! This is where more issues comes in, I am set up with direct deposit and I will see my child support payment just sitting there in limbo for weeks before it is finally deposited to my account. I call every # in the book, the county #, the clerk #, the DOR #, the dispersement # and no one will help me! Not a single GD person is willing to explain to me or tell me why they won’t just deposit it into my account! They send me on a chase of calling this person, call that one, this is the wrong #, you need to call this one. Forget the automated nonsense! They tell me my SS# I entered is wrong, like I don’t know my own SS#. And if and when they finally deposit to my account, it is always less than what I am supposed to receive! I go days eating ramen noodles, my son who is a growing boy cannot survive on ramen noodles and peanut butter sandwiches all week! There is no nutrition in what we eat because what we eat minimal and out of necessity! I won’t eat so my son can eat! I still cannot get food stamps either! To make matters worse, I was getting health insurance for my son through healthy kids (ANOTHER POOR EXCUSE FOR HELP) and had my monthly premium go up from $20 a month to $133 a month due to an error THAT WAS THEIR FAULT! They had my ex husband as living with me and his income included with mine, so I removed this information told them we are divorced and I even have a restraining order against him, and they then said that because I was a 2 person household rather than a 3 person, I fell out of the bracket of the lower premium and no longer qualified for a discount! They said this is federal guidelines! How on god’s green earth does my premium go up in cost when my income goes down?!?!?!?! How backwards is this SYSTEM?!?!?!?! I do not get food stamps nor Medicaid. I work my butt off to provide my 13 year old son with a good life and only to receive 250$ a month in child support, and make me pay all of his health care costs and everything else. And then everything is taken from me. So I left one bad situation to go into another bad situation. I have paid my taxes my entire life, I have been working since I was 16 years old! I do not in any way shape or form fraud the system like many others I know who have good jobs and drive around in Cadillac’s only to find out they get 500$ a month in food stamps and they all have Medicaid! I left my abusive husband to give our son a better life, but at least I had food on the table and my son had health insurance! So to sum this up, I am more than disappointed in all areas of our government, not 1, not 2, and not 3, but 4 different agencies have let me down. The court system, the child support system, the dept of children and families, as well as Florida healthy kids. I am beside myself at this point. To add further insult to injury, my employer now REQUIRES me to have health insurance, I can no longer opt out! I have to pay a ridiculous premium of $541 a month, and if I want to add my son onto the policy, it will be $1052.00 a month! Now my employer will pay for half, but I have $270 less of my income a month. Now I am negative every single month and paying over draw fees all the time! I will have to find ANOTHER job and have to go through this god awful vicious cycle all over again! I have family who has died for this country in war, I have had family serve this country proud and sacrifice themselves for us, the citizens, and where has it left me? They sure take my taxes out of my check every 2 weeks, they sure do make me pay sales tax on all these items I cannot even afford! Do you know what it is to live in south Florida and not be able to turn on your air conditioner because your light bill is too high? I’m BROKE and unable to provide for my son properly, when my family shed blood for this country and they take my tax dollars and give it to people who really don’t need it. I need help, I need those food stamps! I’m about to lose everything I have because I decided to better my life and my sons life by leaving a man that was sure to end up killing me and leaving my son without a mother! Where’s OBAMA ? Where are the pretty politicians who kiss your butt for votes, but leave you hanging... where are they? They are sitting in their multimillion dollar homes sipping iced tea and contemplating on where the next vote comes from. That vote won't come from me that's for sure! I was so proud of my country so long ago, until I was the one who got racked through the coals and am left here to try and provide for my son and give him a better life.

Who ever said working for a living pays? I have been working at my job for 4 years, and this year we were told "NO PAY RAISES". So I thought I could get some help from the state. Well "IF" I bring home LESS than $1984.00, A month I can get FOOD STAMPS. Thats for a family of 3. Well lets see... Making 9.00 an hour. working for 35 hours a week. That makes 315.00 a week. And my son brings in 338.00 unemployment. WOW we make too much. But what about getting help. SORRY "GO TO A FOOD PANTRY" is what I have been told.
This state is a expencive place to live. Depending on where you live. So I figure if I quit my job. I might be able to feed my family but I will be homeless. YOU CAN'T WIN. I would love to know who made up the formula for getting any kind of help from this state. They must have been living off some one elses money, you don't make enought to live on.
I AM BEGINING TO HATE THIS STATE.
