Skillz Inc. reviews and complaints
I've played on this platform for a few months
I've played on this platform for a few months. Everything was going fine until they flagged my account for an in depth manual review, and later banning me claiming I was purposely abusing the replay feature. Their accusations are untruthful. I gave these guys an honest, and thorough explanation as to what it was I was actually doing, but they chose to ignore, and completely disregard it. They didn't even provide me with an opportunity to try and resolve the issue, and they never offered any advice on what I could've done different. They chose not to respond back like they usually do. The company insists that players should watch the replay and watch what the more experienced players do in order to learn how to improve, and that's basically all I was doing. Yes, I will admit that I did know what moves were being made early on, and I did try doing some of the same moves. I've seen a lot of other players trying to do the exact same thing shown on the replay. It's a fairly common method from what I've seen, but that doesn't mean I was trying to gain an unfair advantage. I have this mental disorder Asperger's Syndrome. I happen to have an excellent photographic memory. I have a good knowledge on what's being done. And no, not all my moves were exactly the same shown in the replay. I did know a few of the same moves and methods being done early on I will admit. I was merely learning different ways to improve. I honestly didn't care about winning, or beating other players. Watching the replay did not always work out in my favor, so it really wasn't like I could invoke it. I was never aware that Skillz has certain rules about watching the replay because they didn't list any rules regarding it. I've read their terms & conditions several times in the past, and I didn't see anything specific against watching the replay. Just because somebody watches the replay, and knows what methods and moves are being done, and tries the same methods early on doesn't mean that player is trying to cheat, or abuse the system in any way. I understand, these guys take fairness and cheating seriously. Rest assured I never had any intention of cheating in any way, and I was more than happy to abide by the rules. The problem is I don't know what the rules are, and I can't follow them if they don't list them. Skillz INSISTS that players watch the replay and learn how to score higher, that's basically all I was doing. I happen to have an excellent photographic memory. The very least these guys could've, and probably should've done in the first place is list certain rules regarding watching the replays. I would've been more than happy to follow them, and I wouldn't be filing this complaint in the first place. How is a player supposed to know what the rules are, and follow them if Skillz doesn't have them listed? Or better yet, how do I know these guys aren't just making them up as an excuse to wrongfully ban players who aren't even aware? Another issue was that most of the time my replay was unavailable, so most of the time I simply couldn't just watch my own replay to learn from my own mistakes. I honestly don't think it's fair that these guys fail to list specific rules, and not make their terms more clear for players, and that the trust and risk personnel ignore the players even if they try to give an honest explanation, then banning them anyway. They never even provided me with an opportunity to try and resolve the issue as if they didn't value customer service. The staff acted as if they weren't willing to offer alternative methods, or come up with a resolution for this review. They acted like my feedback just didn't matter to them. They've been constantly ignoring me, and disregarding my explanations to what I was actually doing, and the fact I have Asperger's Syndrome. Their accusations of me abusing the replay feature are untruthful. Yes, I did watch the replays, and learning different ways to improve like many other players do. I just happen to have a very excellent photographic memory. If Skillz does have specific rules about watching the replay, then why aren't they listed? The simple fact is that if they were listed, we wouldn't be having this problem in the first place. All I have to say is that I hope the company actually reads this complaint, and that they better not DARE reply to this with an automated response. If they do, it will be rejected.

I started playing the SKILLZ Blitz 21 game about a month ago and their Texas Solitaire a little after that
I started playing the SKILLZ Blitz 21 game about a month ago and their Texas Solitaire a little after that. I have made about 6 or 7 deposits for around $200-$250. When you create an account and start playing games the system gives you a skillz rating and another rating for the specific game you are playing. As i kept playing the levels would rise and that is where my issue is. They state throughout their website that the computer uses an algorithm to match you against players with similar skill levels so that the game are fair. In any case, as I started playing games for larger dollar amounts, I noticed that I was being matched against players with way more games played and their skillz levels were sometimes 3 times my level. I have sent this information to skillz and their response to me is that the matchups are not based on skillz levels, but rather other information that only they can see. When I sent them a recent match that I was referring to, they told me I only lost by a couple hundred points so that means I was in the same skill-band. Again when I asked them what my skill-band was they told me it is a secret and they don't divulge that information. There are different amounts of money you can play for when competing against others. You can play for $1,5,10, 20, 50,100, and 200. So after I started winning the $1 games I was raising my amounts to $5, $10, and a few times $20. I went back through the last hundred of games that I have played and there is definitely a pattern going on. When I play the $1 game almost every opponent is within 10 levels of my skillz level. When I move up to $5 there were some games where the skillz level was within a reasonable amount and others that weren't even close. When I went up to $10 and $20 that is where the real problems start. The example game that set me off was a $10 game where my opponent had won over 10,000 games and his skillz level was 85. To put things into perspective I have only won 900 games and my skillz level was 34. Again they told me because I only lost by a couple hundred points that means I was in the same skill-band as my opponent. Now I know I already stated this, but when I play the $1 games my opponents usually have skillz levels of between 20 and 50. I can better explain the semi-scam this company is running by phone and with a record of all of my games and my opponents ratings. Nevertheless, I will briefly explain what is happening. They have thousands of players playing at any given time with specific times of the day where more people than other times. Because I only started playing about a month ago and have won a decent amount of games in that time frame, I have been playing higher amount games. Well when I play a $5 or $10 game there aren't enough players playing those dollar amounts that are within my skill-band, so instead of the company holding my game until a player of equal skill-band comes along, they put me against the next player (no matter the skill-band) that signs in for that game. Now if there is a player from similar skill-bands I don't deny that they may try to match me up with him. But the problem lies when they don't wait. See they already take an enormous amount of money off the top of your winnings (30%). So the more games that are played throughout the day, the more money they make of course. So my complaint is simple, they advertise fairness and in their rules section they talk about matching up players on similar abilities, but this doesn't always happen. When I sign in to play a match they should hold my score until another player of similar levels comes along and plays. There are some other alarming things that may be going on with this game as well. I would need access to other players records and what not, but I have noticed recently that when I do play against someone that has 3 times the skillz level as me, they have lost more games recently than they have won. So in other words, they are on a bit of a losing streak, so they match that person up against someone that is at a way lower skill-band to give therm a better chance of winning, thus continuing to play the game and make them more money. If you follow up on this complaint, please ask for all of my email correspondence especially with *** in the VIP section and you will see how they just brush this issue off as if there is nothing that can be done. The other thing I hope you can find out is what ratings system do they use to match players and why can't the players themselves see that to make sure they are not being cheated by unfair match-ups. They tell me the skillz level that players can see doesn't matter, nor does the amount of games played, even it is 900 games won compared to the other player literally winning over 10,000 games. The last question I would want you to ask them is if the skillz rating that everyone sees is not what is used to provide fair match-ups then why is it when I play $1 games they are always within 10 points either way. Thank you for your time.
