Our 2019 Chevy Equinox came with Michelin tires. Now, 4 years after and only 35K miles the tires are sliding, and the grab is failing on very light rain. It is a failure. Where are the 6 years warrantee promoted by this brand? Should I wait for a bigger accident to occur? I know I'll not get a human answer so, I'm going to buy Firestone, Goodyear or Pirelli. It is very disappointing. I though Michelin were great tires.Read full review of Michelin
These are the seventh set of Michelins in a row. First 6 had no issues and I was completely satisfied with.
As to the seventh set: (225/55/zr16 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S)
had checked for pressure at Discount tire on 10/6/21. I have had checked for pressure at Discount approx 1x monthly since installed new on 12/17/12. Never any issues till now. Per inspection by Discount have a wear problem at edges of all 4 tires.
Tires are on car from approx Memorial day to Thanksgiving only, as have set of winter only tires on wheels used in colder months. Also have truck which is used thru the colder months. When off the car are stored in garage, off floor, on rack, at approx 50% running pressure of 32#. Car is infrequently driven during this time.
Add to this approx a year of covid lock down.
After discovery of wear problem, I researched all and found many complaints as to what is referred to as "chunking" (loss of edge tread on these tires), this occurs at approx 20, 000 miles, I have used for approx 20000 miles. Michelin is well aware of this and has had a recall for this, (although they never contacted me re this, I assume that if the problem existed was up to the end user to claim).
Discount now contacted Michelin (#[protected]). Michelin's response was to offer 25% of purchase price as "goodwill", even though tread was measured at approx 62.5% of original tread. The "goodwill" being offered strictly due to age of tires (Michelin contends that no warranty exists after 6 years, regardless of mileage or remaining tread. (There was no stipulation on the invoice as to age limits).
I had offered to pay for the usage I got from these tires, toward the purchase of new Michelins (this model discontinued, replacement is additional $33. per tire), I also offered to pay this. Was rejected by Michelin.
Next suggestion from me was to have Michelin send out 4 replacement tires to discount, I will have them install, and will pay an additional $434.56 to discount, to be returned to Michelin along with the defective tires. this suggestion would have cost Michelin approx $0.00, as this represented, as close as I could figure, Michelins' cost to produce the replacement tire. This was also rejected by Michelin, based on the age of the defective tires.
So, even though the tires were known by Michelin to be defective, I was forced, by Michelin to accept their offer.
Just doesn't seem equitable to me, seems Michelin will offer approx 50% of what they should as a take/leave situation based on an unknown to the purchaser time limit.
The measure of a product is not only how it performs during it's lifetime, but also how if it doesn't preform as it should, how the customer is treated. I feel in this case, treated poorly.
That being said, there will be no Michelin brand tires in my future in, solely based on the the way, I as a long time customer, was treated by Michelin.
Had a technical question about tires. Chatted online with michelin rep. The result was that told me to go see a dealer. What a waste of time Called their support line... Hung up after being on hold for over an hour. Bottom line is absolutely no customer support from michelin north america Horrible experience. If you are going to have customer support then that's what you need to do. Support customers and keep them happyRead full review of Michelin

The company had a Fall 2016 promotional rebate on selected sets of winter tires. I submitted my information for the reimbursement and got a cheque for $70. A few weeks later I found out that the cheque was refused by Michelin and my bank hit me with a $9.00 service fee. Took 2 emails, 3 phone calls to find out that I needed to send all the original...Read full review of Michelin and 1 comment
faulty valve stems, under inflated tires
We had Mitchelin tires installed on our Class c camper. The first time we drove it two of the valve stems failed and tires went flat.
We were not on the road at the time but in a camp site mins after we parked.
We had to call out a service truck @ $125.00. They installed new valve stems and stated the valve stems were due to improper
installation and the wrong valve stems for the tires. All the tires were under inflated for the requirement of Mitchelin.
If Costco wants to deal in tires that are bigger than small atuo's they need to train their installers.
We were advised to have all the valve stems replaced at a tire center that knows what they are doing.
We were lucky that we weren't on the road when this happened because one of the valve stems was on a front tire.

On Jan 25/15 I installed the tires at 15.14. Invoice# [protected].Alignment made on the same day by sears.
I though that everything now is finished and I can enjoy my nee tires but 2 days later I started to hear a rubbing noise coming from the right rare .I booked appointment with Sears to recheck the alignment.
On Feb 12/15
After visited alignment shop, who informed me that one of the tire is defect. I went to Costco #678 to forward my problem to one of the specialist in the tire center and here is the most worst part of the story, I told the supervisor about my problem and asked him to make a drive with my car to listen to the noise, after the test drive he denied the issue of noise but he'll check the tire. He took the tore out and after checking, he told me that is not defect but damage caused by applying brake strongly and suddenly, if I am concerned about my safety and want to replace the tire, he can help me by replacing the both rare tire for 269 $.I tried to explain him that the issue of brakes couldn't be first becuse I am the only one who drive the car, secondly if this happen then will affect all tires specially the front two.He started to repeat his opinion without listing to my opinion, ignoring any logic. I refused to pay any more any mony and to save my time I decided to leave the center and return all the 4 tire. (That was at 18.39.inv#[protected])
On Feb 13/15
I decided to visit other costco tire center before going forward in return process. I went to costco#627 Fontana. The technician was very understandable to my situation and he told me he will recheck the tire to find out the problem. After rechck the technician came with the result of defect tire.
On Feb 14/15

offer made & denied
On 27 June 2013 i had purchased 4 Michelin Tires from the above mentioned firm, where the salesman/fitter after confirming from his owner that there is a discount of SR-50/- on each tier. All the four tiers were replaced. The discount amount was to be collected from the Main Office of Michelin in Dammam -Al Joufali & Bro. Co. I went there and the counter salesman said the discount offer is completed and no amount will be refunded.
That is I have been cheated by lying to me of an offer discount which is already been expired. Now with whom shall I collect this discount amount.
