Formula Homes reviews and complaints
Another Rip Off?
Formula Homes went into liquidation a few years ago now we noticed that Ravi Krishnan and Rani Krishnan (owners of Formula Homes) have built another building/development site call Auctionbuild. The tradies didn't get paid when they owned Formula Homes so what is to say that they will get paid if they subby for Auctionbuild. Also we noticed that the home owner has to pay $1500.00 up front to Auctionbuild which apparently is 'fully refundable' yet when you go to click on the Terms and Conditions link it doesn't work neither does where to find them. Another scam in the making!

new company
It seems the director of Formula Homes, Ravi Krishnan immediately started another company on 13 July 2011 after putting Idea Builders under ext administration. The company is called AMANDESA PTY LTD.If anyone knows what this company does, post it here. People like Ravi Krishnan should not be allowed to con more people while living in a mansion and driving a BMW.

I agree, he has no scruples or moral code whatsoever.
Couldn't agree more. This issue may have reared its ugly head again!
What can you say about greedy people that profit by cheating others and have no scruples.Ravi Krishnan should not be allowed to start another company before having paid back all the people whom he profited from.

Your not the only one. It took two and a half years before i got my house and they still havent finished things and they got their money. It started from the first day of construction. Got charged for 6 cubic mts of rock that came from the house behind that were digging a swimming pool. Had no steal beam to continue brick work upstair and had to wait about a month. Brick work not done upstairs and plaster was in. Had the wrong cornice. Got floods in the house because the rumpus room was all open from where the beam had to go in and when they did fix it they didnt put any insulation in the roof and it still doesnt have any. Staircase had to be redone 4 times and then half of it a 5th time because their stupid workers put an oil stain on the step. All my window frames are scratched, they raised the shower bases so high that the tiles dont even hide the cement and the porch leaks. We had to pay extra for a builders clean and it was disgusting i had to clean it myself again. And this was before handover. After handover is another story. Got the hot water put in and it was the wrong one . Got a rheem solar panel and a dux hot water tank. They connected everything and it didnt work had to wait a month for hot water and when they did come and fix it i was told my hot water tank doesnt have any warrenty because they put a different solar panel and im still waiting for them to change it. When they put my oven in they couldnt push it in the cavity because it was too small and we had to fix it ourselves. Cant use the bath because there's no spa pump and found a hole in the bath from when they did the frame for the bath. I got no mirrors so we put them ourselves and we paid for them. No manhole cover and a missing handle on one of the doors. And to top it off today we started getting water in the house leaking from the roof. So i know how you feel they are the WORST EVER BUILDERS and i wouldnt reccomend them to anyone even if they were the only builders around.
Totally Agree!
There should be some penalty for these small time builders who think they can get into the caper easily just by doing a building course and starting up a company. I hear the MD Ravi has a house in toorak. wonder if it has been sold or taken off the market?will the law penalise such crooks and make them pay?
Good Bye To Bad Rubbish (GOOD RIDDANCE) we just finished our house in time, feel sorry for any one caught up in this crap to follow, we still have some issues but can fix them ourselves, the directer (Rani) should lose his building license and never be allowed to build a dog kennel let alone a house again, I hope he loses his house, car etc. and get a taste of what he has put some of us through, the so called building manager (Frank ) will probably end up working for bunnings and pity anyone that listens to him for advise, For diori1966 I believe Ravi's name is Ravinthran Krishnan as per the building regristration Number DB-U 29470
I'm a trades person that has worked with them they owe us thousands of dollars the ### deservers every thing that's coming his way, it's funny how he drives a $100, 00 dollar car and he did not pay his trades people. Good luck trying get money out of them, and to all who has built with this company I feel sorry for all of you.
Hey guys, I hate to advise but Formula Homes has been put in the hands of liquidators. They were hopeless at running a business and have ruined many people's lives. I personally believe that the directors were scammers, taking people's money without any intention of delivering what they were supposed to. They also didnt pay many of their contractors, leaving many in financial ruin. Does anybody know Ravi's surname, I would like to take action against him personally
i have just had an independant inspection done on my overdue unfinished rubbish formula home.25 pages later most of the house has to be pulled down i am going to end the contract at the end of this week and finish it myself. They are the worst builder ever and none of the employees will answer thier phones or contact back.Section 43 of your contract tells you how to end it, a substantial breech is going over the allocated build time or not installing the correct items as per contract.all you need to do is send it on paper to them and give them 10 days.
This ### is still building his own site works and has not got his planning permit yet. Expects another person to clean up his incompetence. What a joke ! No one can build on his land and he is paying penalties because of his own inconpetence
We are in the same boat, what a pack of d!#kheads we are 6months over and i think i'll have to stop the contract and finish it my self, there is a section in the contract to do so! we have had three building supervisers Ravi wont come anywhere me and the building manager hasn't got the balls to return my call SO DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THESE JOKERS !
Well add me to the growing list 135 days over contract,
I wouldn't reccomend this mob to built a dog kennel because your dog would be left out in the cold !
Next step a head to head with this Ravi a$@ehole I bet you his house wasn't built by Formula Clowns !
I have had the same problem.. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND FORMULA HOMES to anyone who's building a new home. They are the worse builders I've ever come across. I have friends who have gone with other companies and they haven't had any problems even remotely close to what I'm gong through... It's been over a year since construction started and I still haven't gotten the house yet. Firstly they screwed up my plans and I had to change the whole design just when I was about to sign the contracts. And this took another few weeks to get finalised. From the start they kept stuffing things up and i had to make changes while the construction was going on and with no compensation for the time that was extended. Then they put wrong items instead of the ones in the actual contract. And half way through they said I can't have certain things that were already in the contract. And I didn't even get any compensation for that. Building a house should be an exciting process, but building it with Formula Homes has been an absolute nightmare.. it was the worse decision I have ever made in my life. Please, if anyone comes across this, pass it on.. Never choose Formula Homes as your builder.. You'll regret it for the rest of your life...
Building contract ended
I signed a contract with Formula Homes and paid a deposit for a home. In 10 months I received 2 sets of final drawings, both had the wrong facade and were sent back. I was then sent a variation for the correct facade with an extra cost of $6000. The customer service coordinater, Gary, said the salesman made a mistake and the facade I was sold is an extra $6000 and I was told to sign and send back the variation. I refused, as I had a signed contract for that facade and that price.
Gary was extremely rude and uncooperative and every time he rang, he just wanted to argue. He has no problem solving skills or customer service skills. I got to the stage where I would not answer the phone if they rang as I was sick of arguing with them.
I had 2 color appointments, the first one the drawings were not ready so we had to cancel and the next appointment, which took 6 hours, they lost the selections.
By this stage, I had no confidence that they were even capable of building a house.
Then in October, after 10 months, they ended the contract by letter and said they would refund my deposit, I"m still waiting for my deposit. Its been 7 months and no sign of my deposit.

I believe that Formula homes have now gone into liquidation. They were as dodgy as, never paid their contractors, their internal office and management procedures were a joke. It's no wonder they went bust!
New house build. Formula were a cheap alternative. In service, build time and price. Our house was completed in 14 months. Which was 6 months over the contracted time. We went through 3 site supervisors and 3 customer service officers. Customer service was extremely poor. Email contact was hardly ever replied too always requiring phone follow ups. Site supervisors seemed to have no ability to manage trades or time lines for each job completion. Many jobs were started then left as the trades were paid but never finished. Causing further delays. Quality of the finished product s far from superior. You would expect perfection after such a long build time. our house is only 24sq so not huge by any means. Do not be fooled by cheaper prices. You get what you pay for. Poor service, poor quality and excessive build times.
Formula Clownes keep away from them, mistake after mistake nearly 6 months over contract they make lying a art form how can you build a house when they only do 6-8 hours of work a week, they are a bad joke My advice is to stay away we have meet another couple and they have had the same problems I wish I had found this website before we had started more to come stay tuned !
I am facing the same issue with Formula Homes too. It took me 6 versions of Tender, 5 version of Colour selection documents, 4 versions of Post Contract Variation before landing to final copy. This company is not professional at all and I experienced the same rudeness from Gary as well. They made silly mistakes that people like me not in the trade can point it out easily but not them. My house building gets delayed over & over again with all these silly errors that caused delays. There is no transparency in process in this company, I agreed 100% ! In fact I helped them a lot to pick up their mistakes but still this goes never ending and I have not even seen anything starting at my site 8 months from initial engagement.
I'm going through something similar now. They have an ambiguous clause in the contract which at this stage I have refused to sign, however they seem very unwilling to compromise or even show transparency, it all seems very dodgy. I signed up with a Sales Consultant who is no longer with the company and I'm now dealing with someone else who, has increased prices from the first tender to the second tender without telling me, has been very unhelpful and down right rude.. I feel as if they are trying to take me for a ride and I have paid two deposits so far which if I decide to walk away I'm surely to lose. I would advise anyone considering Formula Homes to beware..
We also experienced some serious issues with this company (Formula Homes) BEWARE it may well be the worst decision ever. They lack understanding of the project and the mistakes are numerous and ongoing. Highly alarming business dealings.
I was going to sign on to Auctionbuild and was very concerned also about the lack of details on the site and the company's sponsers.
I was told they were located in Glen Waverley, if you know the address can you send me a personal message as I would love to ask Ravi Krishnan and Rani Krishanan personally a few curly questions face to face. I have read all the other Formula Homes complaint forums and it makes for interesting reading.
