Fraud in their plan
My wife and I signed up for Republic Wireless.
Website guaranteed that we could keep the same plan if we paid our bills and kept the same phones.
Still have the same phones and paid the bills on time (direct pay).
But the phones are losing functionality (wife cannot call me, no voice mail, etc).
Repeated calls to Republic Help result in the same answer: "We no longer support your system; you will have to buy a new phone (Minimum $300 per your website) and upgrade to the more expensive plan (an additional $35/month).
Republic will not provide any remedies or financial assistance.
This was a clear bait and switch - fraud.
Refund after cancellation
I received an email saying my service would be terminated at the end of October because of a technical issue, so I transferred my number to another carrier. I prepaid for an entire year in August and transferred my number two months later. That was three weeks ago, and they have yet to refund me the balance for the other ten months that I prepaid. My cell phone through them could never receive text messages, and on switching, I found out they considered my cell phone as a landline. I guess they wanted to cancel my service since Dish Network decided to double the rates, and they still owed me ten months of service at the lower price. I would warn anyone that this company offers poor service and advise you to pick any other cell phone company.
Desired outcome: A refund for the unused months I prepaid.
Poor customer service
DO NOT do business with Republic Wireless. When they paired with Dish earlier this year, I lost service for a week with no solution from customer support. Then when I ported my number to Mint, I had just been charged for 12 months service with Republic, and instead of refunding me, they credited the amount to my no longer active account. They have denied my request for a refund since June 2022 and I no longer believe this will ever be resolved
Doubled Bill
I found recently Aug. 8th. Republic has doubled billed me over $100 dollar. I’ve spoken to two CSR’s. which started the credit process and said it would take 24 to 72 hours for the credit to show on my credit card account. On Aug. 18th, I called Republic again and after getting the run around spoke with a supervisor. She made excuse. As of today, Aug. 31, 28 days later I’ve only received $32 dollar credit.
I have detail notes with Republic representative names and operator I.D. Numbers. Along with invoice number and the Republic ticket number issued by the CSR’s.
The 24 to 72 hour issue of credit was a lie.
Desired outcome: Keep your Word Republic and issue credit to my credit card account you have on file.
Can't get phone activated
I purchased a new 5g A71 Samsung phone 6/14/22 which I activated about a week later. It worked until about 7/11. Worked every night with customer reps, resetting phone, ordering a new Sim card, I even talked to Samsung after a Republic wireless rep said the problem is with the phone and that Republic wasn't responsible. New card arrived, still can't get phone to work, finally a rep at Republic admitted that this model wasn't compatible with their network. Sent my phone as well as my son's phone back and ordered two S22 Galaxy phones.
Only one arrived, they claimed that only one was ordered. Ordered another phone for my son, in the meantime cannot get this new phone to work. The representative that arranged for the return of the A71's forgot to tell me to keep the sim cards that were in the phones! Opened a ticket to get the sim card that was included in the box to be activated. That was on 7/22/22. I was told 24 hours. Called on 7/24 to find out why my phone still has not been activated. I was told it takes 5 days! Furthermore, the ticket had been closed! Opened a new ticket.
Desired outcome: At this point, I just want my phones unlocked so I can go to another network provider that knows what they are doing. I cannot go any longer without phone service. P.s. I am still waiting for the second phone to come.
cell phone provider
I was double billed by Republic Wireless on 7/20/19 for $24.38. Republic Wireless has no phone number to call, ticket system can take weeks for an answer, so I did a charge back through my credit card company. Today (8/26/19), every phone call I try to make goes to some unknown company, and I can't receive calls. Tried to contact Republic Wireless, it was one of their customers who explained that Republic Wireless needed updated credit card info, and that's why they sent all my calls to an unknown number. You know, instead of calling me or texting me or emailing me, for some reason they decided that this was the way to handle it. I updated my CC info, still have the same problem, Finally received a message from someone at Republic Wireless, they explained that they did this to me because of the chargeback from last month. I sent them proof, a screen capture from my credit card statement, four hours later, no reply. I am still without phone access. No way to contact anyone there, they have no phone number for customers to call for billing or with problems, customers have to sit and wait for a "ticket" that might be answered today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. I have a family member 5 states away who is on her deathbed, I can't call or receive a call to find out if she's still alive or not. I'm a disabled vet with no other access to the outside world except for my phone and computer. I need my phone. Also, I've paid for this "service" from Republic Wireless for a year in advance, made that payment less than a month ago!
RW CS totally sucks! On July 1, after being a customer since 2011, RW CS de-activated my phone without my consent. Individuals and managers tend to be very friendly, but totally unable to assist. They submit internal tech tickets into a dark hole, then tell you to call back in no less than 72 hours. When you call back because the issue is not fixed, CS and/or managers tell you the only assistance they can provide is to submit another ticket. Then, get this, they ask you to call back in 72 hours. It is July 15, they have not fixed the reactivation/restoration of my phone. Now, I am totally frustrated and trying to port my number to a new carrier. On July 12, they stated it would take 72 hours to manually release my phone number, Called today July 15 to follow-up, no action taken, RW CS told me they can only submit another request and for me to call back in no less than 72 hours.
Since July 1, I am feeling more and more like a fool. With Authenticator Apps, I have been unable to log into work, my bank, and other important on-line tools.
