Reliable Roofing & Retrofit was the first company to arrive for minor roof repair estimate to area above my garage which was a flat surface just outside a window in an upstairs bedroom. Two managers who were professionally dressed and had quality looking folders with what seemed legitimate licenses, bonds, insurance ,etc.

I didn't feel the need for further estimates.(mistake)

Upon entering my home to see the roof from my bedroom they also requested to do a routine assessment of the whole roof in which they then assured me I had much needed repairs as the roof had rusted and bent flashings; I was shown pictures they took with areas they said were rusted and the flashings coming loose/nails coming out.

They told me my roof had major risk for leaks and they it should be repaired right away. Their estimate came to $14,985. Subsequent estimates were $10,000 less! I settled for a company who repaired the original leak problem as well as fixed the damaged roof from "much needed repair demolition" done by Reliable Roofing.

I immediately cancelled their services after a neighbor came by on 7/7/21 and told me my roof had not need any repairs (he is a construction worker who sometimes helped with small things) which was also corroborated by three separate roofing companies. All who did not require entering my home for an estimate and each project manager came down from my roof with their heads shaking in concern/shock/dismay at the damage done to my roof. The following is a letter of events which led to the cancellation of services.

7/7/21 Notice of Cancellation (copy of complaint letter to company with names omitted)

Att: Reliable Roofing & Retrofit 1415 Koll Cir, Suite 111 San Jose, Ca 95112

I signed a home improvement contract Friday 7/2/21 with encouragement from the project managers and promises to start "right away". I was asked to sign a waiver to start work immediately as they assured me their crew could be here the next morning 7/3/21 at 09:30am.

No one arrived at 9:30am so at 10:30 I called and left a phone message with primary project manager. Then I called the other manager who answered and told me that his manager had called him and told him the crew was running an hour late. He then assured me they would arrive by 11:30. They did not arrive until 12:30 and did 2 hours of demolition work which was not completed per contract outline as gutters are still in place and all demolition debris was left in neighbors front yard.

They left at 2:30pm and I was told they would return on Monday 7/5. No one arrived that day. One of the managers called at 12:39 and told me his crew were unable to make it that day. He said they would be here by

Wednesday July 7th for sure. I informed him that his crew left debris in my neighbors’ yard in which he also said his crew would clean up.

Today Wednesday, no one arrived to do any work or remove debris from neighbors’ yard as verbalized by manger. The manager did call at 12:24 and said he would try to find out where his guys were. He said they had

lost my original contract and check for $1,000 ( #1037). The manager then arrived at my home at 12:43 and asked if he could see my copy of original contract receipts so he could re-write them, I dated them 7/2 at his

request but did note that it was re-written and signed by me on 7/7/21.

All of the aforementioned actions are Extremely unprofessional.

Because of these reasons I have chosen to cancel all work at this time as demolition was incomplete

and follow-through has not happened per verbal and written agreements.

I assured one of the managers that I would do my due diligence and get a couple more quotes to make sure that the

contract is true and accurate and comparable to other roofing companies in regards to the recommendations of “roof maintenance”, gutter repair/replacement and trim (as per itemized

list #1-12). If similar quotes arise then I will reschedule work at a later date.

Desired outcome: Refund of cost to repair "demolition" work damage to my roof by Reliable Roofing. $3,000. I photos that are PDF format there unable to upload into this complaint.
