So... you got a custom-made 12 foot awning produced, shipped to a different location, installed for free ... and for $100 less than you planned to pay for it in the first place (not to mention $300 less than the dealer really wanted) and... you're complaining about it? Sheesh, lady... really?

Um. I would suggest you take this up with AT&T directly and as soon as possible, rather than posting it here. They don't read the Complaints Board, just in case you thought they might respond on their own. Fraudulent charges are a regular scam-like "thing" that AT&T has to deal with.

Financial planners and people who work in sensitive industries often have to provide a credit report as a pre-requisite for employment. But not usually as the very first thing, of course, because this information is sensitive. However, if you are going to be in a position of financial trust -- does it make sense that that company might want to know if you have creditors breathing down your neck? If you have huge bills -- and might be tempted into malfeasance? Or if you are privy to sensitive information -- are you bribable? Many positions in the energy sector, law enforcement and security require good credit so that you aren't easily tempted by payola.

It's not fun. It's not enjoyable. However, it is something that employers will do if they really like you and you're getting down to "brass tacks" as they say. But not the first thing out of the box.
