Guru is terrible. I was with them for years & never had problems until the end.
They canceled my account (I'm the buyer) several times b/c I wouldn't tolerate disrespectful vicious independent contractors talking down to me like they did. Any worker who thinks JUST because they aren't an "employee" or they are online & can say whatever they want b/c we aren't face to face & they think that they are at the same level as the boss, is living in a dream world. I just fired someone else last week because she had it in her head that I wasn't her boss just b/c she has the label of IC LOL.
Anyway, Guru.com felt I should just be a robot (since they are) & not say anything to the workers who talked down to me as if I was their co-worker. I found most of the workers who did this to be editors/writer or graphic web designers/graphic designers. The other categories not so much.
I was given warnings because every time the worker didn't like something I said, they would go running to their mommy (guru.com) & complain. Me being a mature person, I never did that, since I fight my own battles.
Finally after being booted several times, I just gave up.
I switched to oDesk, but the quality of workers there is few & far between.
I've recently received an e-mail from vworker.com & I went onto their site & was SHOCKED at how many strategies they put into place to protect the company from mean, disrespectful, lying independent contractors who rip off companies. The fact that a bidding site even recognizes this HUGE issue proves to me that I'm NOT the only one who has been having these problems all these years.
I am VERY excited to try them out with these new protections in place. And I LOVE the tech sherpa idea. How many times have I hired a programmer or website coder & didn't know whether the guy knew what he was doing, but I had to go based on blind faith. I have been telling programmers FOR YEARS to start a service that would screen other programmers, but of course they don't listen.
NOW I will happily take advantage of this service.
I will be trying them out as soon as I'm fully verified, as I haven't used their account in years b/c I hated rent a coder.
I'm glad someone out there is listening & trying to clean up the industry of all these wanna be workers who "claim" to have the skill you are hiring them for, but are just looking for a quick buck. The lying has to stop!
I also want to be clear that I've heard there are some nasty companies out there that rip off independent contractors, so I'm not saying ALL ICs are bad, just saying I've had tons of terrible experiences with them.

This guy started to work for us teaching us about google analytics.
I should have known there was going to be a problem when he refused to give me his name. Anyone who hides who they are on line has something to hide & you should be VERY careful of.
At first his work was superb, but then when I asked him some questions about the work he did, he wanted me to pay him another fiverr just for him to answer some questions about what he had already stated.
We then got into an argument because he clearly thinks it's ok to not fulfill his obligations & to try & get money out of the company who hired him.
He clearly has trust issues, because had he just looked at the word doc, he would have seen my questions were NOT related to new work. So either he is just trying to rip customers off, or he has trust issues thinking everyone is out to get work from him for free.
I brought this up & then Fiverr refunded the money to me, so I didn't even get a chance to give him a proper review. Guy obviously gets away with a lot, you will only see perfect reviews on his profile.
What I have a problem with are people who are sneaky. Had he just said from the very beginning that all the work he does is 2 fiverrs, then I would know upfront, but he didn't, he likes to charge you even if you have any followup questions.

Those blog posts are freelancers online who didn't like the negative reviews I gave them & in retaliation, they posted lies. Just like you are doing here. Actually I'm pretty sure one of them is even from a company I gave a negative review to. This is what the world is coming to. You give someone a negative review (I would NEVER give someone or a company a negative review unless they deserved it) & they retaliate by spreading lies about you.

There was nothing personal about my complaint other than yes, when someone treats me like garbage I get upset. She wasn't grumpy, she was an outright blank.
If you don't care about my complaint, go order from them, I don't care, but for people who care about customer service & genuinely nice people, they will take my complaint seriously.

First, notice how this person refuses to give out his name. What is he afraid of if what he says is the truth?
Second, I don't go around threatening people & write negative reviews just because they don't want to do advertising for my company. Only a crazy person would do that & I'm not crazy. There's clearly way more to this story that this person who feels the need to lie & hide isn't divulging.
I'm very much aware that some sites won't allow adult advertising on their site. I've been in the escort industry for years, I always ask companies if they will accept my sites. If they so no, I move on. I have to say this... Dahh, anyone in the escort industry knows this. Does this person really think this particular lie is going to fly? This person is clearly retaliating because of some negative review I gave them.

As for the other blogs mentioned above, most were nasty editors who were rude & disrespectful towards the boss (me) & when I posted a review they didn't like about them, 2 of them decided to hide (notice again, we don't know who they are), then pretend they were clients & write the lies claiming I'm a fraud & a scam which is soooo far from the truth again, it's laughable. In fact I'm one of the few honest people not just in the escort industry, but in all industries. I'm sooo honest, it probably costs me business at times because I don't exaggerate things to the point of lying like sooo many companies do in their advertising.
Lies are spread every day online by very dysfunctional immature people & it's unfortunate. As you can see, none of the people who say these nasty things about me EVER divulge who they are. They hide behind the Internet so they can slander. They are just weak individuals who need some serious help, but I know they will never get it because they don't think they are doing anything wrong. Chronic liars never think they are doing anything wrong.
Most times when I review someone or a company, I divulge my name as I have nothing to hide.
On the above blogs, I even found one company I reviewed. Yes, a hairdressing salon. His salon had issues & after they piled up, I thought he'd want to know so he could fix them & instead he treated me like absolute garbage, so I blogged about what happened.
These really bad freelancers, independent contractors & companies would love nothing more than to weigh in on the lies others spew so they can participate in the witch hunt. Another is a mortgage broker I wrote about when she tried to scam me with a mortgage. Once I posted my story of what happened, other people she's hurt came out of the word work & posted. I never said another thing about her because like I told you, I state the facts once & let it go, but instead of going after them, she continuously harassed me & then went onto those blogs & lied about me. She's currently under investigation from what I've been told.
I admit, when someone or a company does something really nasty (not talking a disagreement) or is a mean spirited person, I review that person, but I'm ALWAYS honest & ethical by telling the entire story. I don't exaggerate or make anything up. That's not who I am as a person. I also don't go out of my way to try to bring their entire business or company down. That's just sick.
More & more people online show how nasty & sick they are by trying to bring others down. It's not just me, the cyber bullying has become an epidemic where even just regular Joes are being lied about if someone they know is out to get them.
I can't stop the lies spread by crazy freelancers who are soooo terrible at their job that they go around lying about their skill & then try to rip off companies. You would be shocked if I showed you how some of them talk to me, THE BOSS.
I can't stop the owners of small companies who refuse to give good service or treat their customers or potential customers like garbage. You all know who they are, I'm sure you've dealt with them before. You may not have had to deal with online freelancers if you don't own an online company, but I've had to. Most aren't like the ones who wrote this post or started those blogs, but there is a growing percentage coming to the surface.

As for my review, I feel other companies should know what you did & since my review on odesk was a positive one for the most part, I felt I should let them decide if they want to hire you or not based on what transpired afterward.

I was told by someone who did business in both the US & Canada, that b/c Canadians never complain, stores & companies get away with murder ripping them off or giving poor customer service. This sort of thing doesn't usually happen in the US b/c Americans won't put up with it.
You want to change things, you have to open your mouth to the right people (not just your friends & family) so the government starts to take notice.
I recommend you write to Consumer Affairs, or call the ombudsman & ask them who to complain to.
The more Canadians that complain, the more change will occur. Keeping your mouth shut solves nothing except the companies figure out pretty quickly that they can walk all over consumers.

Wow, Brian Patterson is even crazier than I thought. That's what I love about the Internet, you can really tell a person's true personality online.

As for Abi Afolabi from Windosr, Ontario (Windsorite), at Integrity Mortgage (I have to laugh at that one), here is the thread regarding her. She was a mortgage broker who... well read the story below & you will get the jist of what was done.
She follows whatever I do online & posts negative things about me on either my reviews of independent contractors or blogs where other independent contractors have slandered me. It makes her feel good to do this even though I haven't done anything to Abi other than write the initial post in my thread & I updated it once after she did what she's doing here, following me around the net tarnishing my name. This is actually the first time I'm talking about Abi in public other than on the blog below, yet Abi just won't stop has following me all over the net.
Abi is currently being sued by a couple of people which is probably why she loves going around touting sue this, sue that. Oh & she has a son who's a lawyer who does all her free legal work for her so she can go around suing people.

Abi from Integrity Mortgage is a very delusional dysfunctional person.
She stalks me on the Internet every few months lying about me & my companies online.
She misled me causing me to move from Toronto to Windsor saying she could get me a mortgage with no money down. I moved my son & I to her rental home in Windsor while I was to look for a house to buy. When I got there, it wasn't even ready for me to move into.
My movers were furious, as it took them 2 hours longer to unload because of her unprofessionalism & we had nowhere to put the beds because she didn't even have the carpets cleaned.
Once there there were issues with the rental (toilet didn't work, fridge was a tiny fridge & it didn't work) & I then found out from her construction workers that she is difficult to deal with. While I didn't believe them at first because I don't listen to other people's gossip, the minute I found out from her Realtor that I had to pay for legal costs, something she NEVER told me, I was furious.
I proceeded to call around to around 10 other mortgage brokers & they ALL said they couldn't get me a mortgage & they couldn't understand how Abi could offer me a "no money down" mortgage with my situation at the time.
I was shocked that I had just been duped. I couldn't believe it & started looking for a rental right away. I moved out of her rental & about a month later posted my experience on my site.
Others started to come forward with what happened to them & Abi & that is part of what she posted above.
I had nothing to do with other people's experiences, I simply relayed what happened to me because I felt people needed to know.
Abi has been cyber stalking me online now since around 2010. She also used my Social Insurance number to gain access to my personal information (this is against the law). I reported her to Equifax.
I am not hiding from anyone. Amazingly people are allowed to move from one country to another. The fact that Abi thinks people aren't allowed to move is hilarious.
I'm sure Abi will continue to cyber stalk & harass me for years to come. She just can't help herself, look at all the posts from her year after year.
I only post once in a blue moon when I see what she's done.
I never went online & posted my experience with her except that one time & only on my blog. She has attacked me over & over again lying calling me a scam & a fraud & that I'm being sued LOL
