i must warn you, the premium text messaging block cannot completely eliminate these charges. The block is designed to block the "premium" services that are in the Verizon database. Being so, any new services or shortcodes that are created may still get through. As stated previously Premium Text messaging is a third party charge that is typically established through online sites. The best way to avoid these charges is to not put your phone number in anything that says you can get ringtones or your hororscope. Speaking from experience teenagers are typically the ones who "accidentally' sign up as they do not read the fine print. Should your number even once get put on one of these sites, you could begin to receive offers from other, at that point you would want to reply "stop all" for each different message.
If you call Verizon back have the rep contact Technical Support, they will be able to take it off the lost/stolen list. If you suspended your service before it was disconnected, the rep may have done the suspend under lost/stolen to save you $15, but didn't even realize the phone would be useless at that point. You will not need to reconnect service to take phone off of "deny" list.
it is slightly possible the charges are legit as videos do use a lot of data, however, VZW mobile broadband overage policy states that all charges in the first month of service will be credited, and then if you go over again you will need to up plan to obtain a credit for overages so you could get a credit for the overages if you ask for it...definately call customer care as the stores do not like to give credits...in fact avoid the store for any billing questions...they get paid on commission and are not helpful to people who aren't increasing their paychecks.
All wireless service providers require a data package on blackberrys, pda, and smartphones.
insurance goes with both the phone and the line, for example if you move the phone from one line to the other the insurance would need to be moved with it, or if you have a phone and you put a old phone on that line, the insurance is void as old phones cannot be insured. The phone would have to be unlocked or jail broken, however Verizon Wireless does not allow unlocked phones to be activated. No alltel phones can be put on VZW price plan or data features.
unfortunately this is true with all cell phone companies, from the time the phone shows connected the minutes are being used and when you hit end is not always when the call ends as some times there is a display.
