German car rentals are notorious from charging your card whatever they feel if they deem damage has been done.
I rented in Frankfurt Airport (avoid at all cost!). I requested full coverage as always. The young man who barely spoke english said he would send the contract to my email. He never did.
While in a parking lot, the car received a scrape on the bumper. When I returned the car I notified the attendant who then told me that I had no record of having the insurance coverage. I requested a copy of my contract. I did not recieve it.
I was charged 1,280 euros for the "deductible" . I paid it even though I was not given the full insurance as I requested. A mistake on the Enterprise clerks part. I requested by email a copy of the contract. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT!
Then, two weeks later another charge of $3,029.00 was made by Enterprise on my card. No notification. No documentation. No pre-warning! I had to cancel my card to prevent any more free-will charges on it without my consent.
This is typical in Germany (I lived there)...but it should not be typical of Enterprise. I have been a customer for over 20 years faithfully.
