I am sure that they told you who they are, how else do you have the company name? They are required to verify by birth date or ssn to make sure they are speaking to the right person. After all, would you want them to tell someone else that you failed to pay a bill? Or any of your personal information? It is to protect you.
It is called skiptracing. Collection agencies are governed by the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practice Act). They are allowed to contact a neighbor to obtain location information on someone. If you don't want them to contact you anymore, I would suggest you call in & simply ask for them not to. They probably left some sort of number(other then telephone #) with you to identify the info they are seeking. Out of curiosity did you give the message to your neighbor? Maybe you should, after all, if someone went to the extent of calling YOUR neighbor to get in contact with you, wouldn't you want to know?

You obviously are such a dense individual that you assume me to be someone I am not. What that has to do with the questions that were asked, I am not sure. But seriously, why shouldn't your employee pay back their loan? I would be willing to bet that no one from GC used any vulgar language on the phone. They didn't just luck into a government contract, my friend. Oh yeah, what was the answer to that last question?

Don't forget, the reason that these government agencies sub-contract collection agencies is because the person that they thought was going to pay them back never did. The sad truth is that most collectors are out there to provide their client(the people that YOU owe money to) the best service possible. It is YOU who owe the money & the creditor obviously got sick of trying to get you to pay your bill so they employed the services of a collection agency. It's quite a simple philosophy, pay your bill on time & it never goes to a collection agency... SIMPLY AMAZING!
NEW FLASH...

Contrary to popular belief, the collector receives their commission as long as you pay your debt. It doesn't matter if you mail it in or how you pay it. As long as it gets paid, the collector will receive their commission. So I hate to inform you, but you probably helped him get a bonus check, just for doing the right thing... paying your bill.
What kind of bill do they say that you owe?
That's right, GC Services will help those who want to be helped. It is those of you looking for an easy way out or some kind of hand out that get treated like credit criminals. Kudos to you David on resolving your student loan debt. Everyone in our country counts on federal money, from future students, to our brothers & sisters dying in Iraq. Do the right thing, pay back your debt!
Of course they get a commission, the difference is, they get paid whether you pay your bill or don't pay your bill. The liars that lie? HMMM, I wonder what you would call it when you sign a contract agreeing to pay someone money & then not paying it back... the American Way? It is jack offs like you that keep collectors employed... for a long time, with a good paycheck.
Because there is nothing illegal about seeking information about someone. Damn they are good, to track down a references husband. WOW, I have learned a new skill tonight. Thanks Jason Folley, that is awesome.

what are y'all crying about? are you collectors or a bunch of babies? since when is it the responsibility of your employer to coddle you? why do you get yelled & screamed at? cuz you aren't a budget hitter? cuz you fail to meet your goals? or just because you are a lazy employee?
