Nuvell National Auto Finance Holding payoff check to accrue more interest

Natioanl Auto carried our loan...murderous rate, but we had to do it anyways. Finally was able to trade our car in. The dealer sent the check...and it took nearly 2 weeks for the check to post. It ONLY posted after I called and reamed them out, calling their bluff about not posting our payoff check so it could accrue more interest daily. By the time the check WAS posted (20 minutes after my phone call), the 10-day payoff amount expired...and there is STILL a balance. AND...they divided the payoff check. They first applied a portion (the month that was due) to that month's payment...then acrued interest of the daily remaining amount until they posted the payment. They did this, as opposed to posting the WHOLE payment in one chunk, which would have reduced the interest they collectd.

I called them daily to check on the payment. Our payment was due 5 days before we bought the car. They held the payment long enough for our current payment to be 10 days late...and also to bill us for the next month's payment. So, both payments for the most recent payment (including daily accrued interest on the higher amount) were applied first. THEN they applied the remainder of the check.

These people were calling us 4 to 5 times a day starting the day after the due date. We explained to them that we no longer had the car...provided dealership info (which they already had rom the payoff request). Finally it got to the point when they would call, all I would say is "read the notes on the account". It was not until I called their bluff that the payment wasposted miraculously within 20 minutes.

NEVER do biz, no matter how desperate. We made extra payments, and the extra was never applied to the principal. They would just reduce the amount due the next month, but we still paid more than the regular amont due...meaning that 8 months later, we were paying full payments when no payment was due, but for some odd reason, the accrued interest for that statement would be HIGHER than the previous months interest.

CROOKS!

Exact same thing just happened to me. I was 3.5 years into my 6 year loan and had never been late. When I traded in my van, the dealership sent a payoff check. I started to get calls from Nuvell collections that I was late with my payment and they were going to report me to credit bureau if payment wasn't received by 30 days late. I told them I traded in the car, but they didn't care. I called the dealership who told me the $13, 000+ check was cashed over a week ago. So Nuvell was harassing me for 1 month payment AFTER they cashed the $13, 000+ payoff check. Dealer said she would call Nuvell. Nuvell told her they weren't going to post it to the account because it was $2 and change short. She immediately sent them a $2+ check. They finally posted the payoff to my account and now I have a balance owed of $200+.

I called Nuvell who told me that the dealer never asked for the payoff amount, they only asked for the balance on the loan. To Nuvell, the balance on the loan is the amount you owed as of the last statement drop, and payoff is the amount you owe with interest through the date of the payoff. Nuvell said the dealership didn't ask for payoff, they asked for the balance of the account. Are they ###s? If a dealership calls and says you traded in the car and how much do they owe, doesn't that mean payoff?

Looks like they hold all payoff checks until someone bugs them to post it to the account.

The dealership got Nuvell to back date the payoff on my account to the date they cashed the check. Now, we'll see when they post the $200+ check the dealership just sent. That's the 3rd check the dealer sent.

Nuvell National Auto Finance Bad Car Loan

Nuvell is definitely filled with crooks, liars, and just blatantly rude and unscrupulous people. I had a car loan that I shouldn't have even qualified for in 2004, at an outrageous rate. My payment was $450 for a $13, 000 car with a trade-in I still owed $4, ooo on which was worth about $1500-$2000, and this was a 60 month loan. I was working 2 jobs at the time, but I lost my part time job. They did nothing to work with me as far as a lower car payment. I informed them I was making $1300 less monthly than I was when I had 2 jobs and they refused to work with me. They were under the impression I was BRINGING HOME $3500 monthly. I didn't make that much BEFORE taxes. They even suggested I pawn stuff I owned in order to keep up with the payment. WTF? When I told them I couldn't afford the payment and the car was waiting for them to come and get it, they took a month to come for it. They told me to make a payment and that would keep me current until the following month. Duh! What happens the following month when I didn't have enough for rent, which was less than the car I was paying for? They called my like 20 times a day, but that's what caller ID is for when the people you're dealing with are a**holes. I let them repo it and just said I'd take the hit and pay it off when I got around to it. In the mean time, I just got a little piece of car to get me from point A to point B. 2 years later, it goes to their collections dept, and the last date of activity was 03/2007-02/2009. WTF? I know they can't update the last date of activity to cover a 2 year span. At least I've read this is an illegal practice. What kind of sh** is that? I thought the date was supposed to be from the very last payment plus 7.5 years. The car was repo'ed in May of 2005, and I haven't been in contact with them. If it was repo'ed in may, I would've been Nov or Dec when it went to collections, and it would've been 7.5 years from then at the most. What's up with the 02/2009 last activity date? What's up with the collections dates covering a 2 year span? I have a theory. They like screwing people over, approving bad loans to get more money and reaging accounts to screw up people's credit. My credit is poor, I'll admit, but I am working on it currentlybecause now I'm wiser and can manage my money better.. I'm not perfect, nor do I pretend to be. Do believe, I'll be disputing the info, and complaining about some of their practices. Hopefully, the company will disappear with the failing economy, but I guess the mighty cockroach has ways of surviving just about anything. Here's to wishful thinking.

HATE THEM!... I had a newer Honda civic, 3+yes. direct deposit pymnts, No latest and I lost my job, and pending disability pymnts. I was always communicating with them. I was going on 4th no past due, I was promised that if I could Western union one full pymnts ASAP, I think within 48hrs, I wouldn't be sent to repossessions Dept. After family helped me with my pymnts. They took my car at 3am, towed it to san bernadino over 3hrs away, and when I tried to go higher in management regarding my pymnts negotiations, I never got a live person or the initial representative kept giving me false names and their job title. I'm n collections and still disabled w/3 kids and no Auto! and a report on my Credit!

I absolutely HATE with a passion National Auto Finance, Nuvell, GMAC or whatever other name they call themselves. I lost my job and all they did was torture me with rude calls. I get a job then they start calling my employer. Due economic times I was once again laid off. So those low-lives finally took the car, which hampers me greatly from finding work even if I could or wanted to pay those jerks. Next they auctioned my ex-vehicle but informed me that the sold price did not cover $10, 000 I owed for the car plus $2, 000 in attorney fees. Some nerve! So it's my responsibility to keep paying for a vehicle I no longer own while they double dip someone who now has it. I never hoped, wished or wanted bad things to happen so much to people like I do those crooks. I hope their employees, employees families and anyone they know or vaguely related to them get cancer of the eye balls and die long and painful deaths! And people wonder why some people go postal when there's sub-humans that we have to deal with. There is no way, as God is my witness that I will give them a booger out of my dog's nose. If I knew voodoo or black magic would be effective I'd try it on them. How are people like this allowed to live and breath or waste good oxygen to support the useless lives while the rest of us suffer? How can this be America that allows companies so hateful and hated stay in business? I can thank Barker Mazda, Lincoln Mercury in Houma, Louisiana for using those slime balls.

I am having a very bad experience with Nuvell/National Auto as well. My truck has a very high interest rate and I have paid it for six years and it is due to be paid off in June of 2012.I Have paid every late charge they have charged me with but, now they say I owe 13 payments past my six year pay off. I could maby see 2 more payments but 13 that's a year and a month added which will have me paying an amount for a truck that I would be ashamed to tell anybody I paid. You could buy 2 trucks for that price. I have had no success with trying to get this issue resolved as well. Anyone have any suggestions please let me know this is terrible.

This is in response to the idiot that says "read your contract"; when one is dealing with unscrupulous people, it is not about us anymore and how well we read the contract or "great, we got a break", it is about the sharks, greed and power. It looks like a lot of us have been taken for a ride for either having bad credit or believing in these monsters. Guess what? I just received a refund of $60.00 in the mail from them saying that I had overpaid in fees; when my current balance is $2, 300 and $545.00 in additional charges, of course this is the price I am paying for being a naughty person and extending the payments a few times; I am two payments behind and have been paying on this car for 7 years at 359.00; everyone ask "you still haven't paid off your car?, it's very embarrassing, but they keep wanting to write it off and I keep paying so they wont; I know I have paid twice what the car is worth; when I received the check I looked for some letter saying "and by the way your title is on its way; sorry that we have been such idiots and we have seen all the complaints on the internet and before the US Attorney General takes some action we are trying to make things right", but I called and like everyone else, they gave me no answers just the run around; however, it does feel good to vent though; you guys know that old cliche "misery loves company". I really hope someone in authority does look at these postings and something is really done about these parasites.I have come to the realization that I too like so many of you are still paying for a vehicle that should have been paid for a long time ago; unfortunately, we are not dealing with human beings; we are dealing with a corporation full of deceit...

LOL, this is insane. We are in a similar boat with them. Financed a car thru them and all was going fine untill I lost my job. We ended up getting four extentions over two years and was greatful but it seems like the car will never be paid for. I just found this out but we've been paying now for a extra year and still have 1.5 payments left and $900 in fees. I dont get it. I have a friend that writes contracts for the Federal Government and he is going to look over our contract and all the paperwork they've sent us. I also have a attorney that helped us out with a situation with the state who said he'd look at it once my other friend puts all the pieces together. I'm thinking we may have something because all the payments and ammitorization charts dont add up. But then again, they are a bank and the current administration loves the banks and will let them do whatever they want to do. Come on 2012.

My husband and I bought a car in 08' with a loan from national auto finance. The loan was for 15, 000 and it was set up on a 6 year. It was a high interest loan and our payment is around $350 a month. We have paid our payments though our bank automatically for 3 years and have never had a problem. Did I want a high interest loan and a 6 year payment? No, but we had bad credit then, and I am thankful that someone gave us a chance. You need to be know the terms of your loan and how much you will end up paying. Am I paying too much for my car? Yes, but that's what happens when you have bad credit. One person said that they were paying over $400 a month on a 9 year loan, that is your fault. Read your contract, know the terms of your loan, and pay your note on time. If you do these things no one can take your car or call you to harass you about paying your bill.

I have been with this company since May 2005. When speaking with someone to inform them I would be making a payment less than 2 weeks late through Money Gram, I was informed they would not work with me and claimed I was already one month behind. I reviewed my records with now, ally.com, and located they had reversed a payment in 12/05...for which, no one can explain to me the reasons. My 72 month term should be ending this month, however, they report I still owe 21 more payments. Upon further review of my account online, I found where they applied SEVERAL payments to finance charges ONLY and additionally have various amounts placed on the priniciple of my loan, like they just decided one month to credit my principle balance for 1.06 and retained the remaining 366 dollars towards their finance charges. I have researched this topic online and can not find anything on if this practice is illegal. I financed 13, 500 on this basic, no bells and whistles, car and have already paid 24, 336 dollars for it! If I end up not resolving this matter with them and have to pay an additional 21 payments, I will end up paying 31, 434 for this car! I wish I would have never financed my car through these loan sharks. I would love to be part of a class action suit! Where do I sign up?

I have been with this company since April of 2006. I thought my last payment would be next month but Nuvell is telling me I owe 12 more payments...WTF? To make matters worst I just recieved a letter saying I have 5 days to pay 1000 dollars or I would no longer be able to continue with my contract. Ok? does that mean your coming to repo it? Yes I have fallen behind recently but its not even 60 days behind and Iam able to pay up just not in 5 days. Do they honestly think that if I had 1, 000 dollars laying around that I would be late? WTF? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. I bought this car when I returned home from my SECOND tour of Iraq and was so excited. Now I wish I would have never done it. HELP

Today I called to find out why they were calling when I had direct deposit. Spoke to non english speaker and several non english speaking supervisors. I was told that it was due to an NSF that I did in 11/09 and that they don't automatically set your account back up for direct deposit which is not what I was told on the phone when I made a payment. Please take note that they took the money out of my account on a day they were not supposed (resulting in NSF) to and I had paid on time for 3 years straight. I have never received a bill or statement from day 1. The one notice I did receive (nsf notice) referenced a phone number - NOT A BILL, NO PAYMENT ADDRESS! If they are not going to take money out automatically shouldnt I be given pay stubs or a bill in the mail so that I can pay? Now my credit has been dinged and they want late fees. I am held hostage and for what...their error. When is the lawsuit?
