I was purchasing a parrot on layaway from here and i was making payments. I missed a week due to the flu and one of my dogs had to have emergency surgery. I went back the following weekend to make my next payment and was told the bird was back up for sale. I said why because i have not changed my mind about buying this parrot. They said that Christmas was coming and they could use the money and didn't want to wait till January like they had originally agreed upon. I was told to go home and to come up with a date closer then the original date to pick up this parrot...I called them back and told them i could pick up the parrot by the 15th of January. I was told no and was told that i had lost my deposit. I then called back the next day to try to talk to Nick and was told the bird had been sold and Nick was unavailable. So i finally got ahold of Nick on the 27th of December. He told me that deposits are non refundable and I said true when i change my mind not when you change your mind about me. I said can i at least get store credit toward some supplies for my other two birds. I was told No again and was then told to f*** off. I then said i guess you will see me in small claims court. He then proceeded to tell me to f*** myself. I said I was going to place complaints on them all over the internet for what they have done and was told then to f*** myself again and hung up on. This is not a nice place and they do not feed the birds a good quality pellet bird food. The food they feed is mostly sunflower seeds. The birds there are not in good feather. The place is dirty. The birds are interbred. The only reason i was buying this one parrot is he wasn't interbred and i felt bad for him being fed what he was being fed. I should have known something was up when i went in a week after placing my deposit on the bird and no one even knew i had placed the bird on hold. Then Nicks brother was rude and said he would have never allowed a layaway plan on a bird that was ready to go. Anyway all i am saying is its best to go ahead and spend your money elsewhere then here. These folks should be put out of business.

Nicks Pets is horrible……rude, and do not give a crap about their animals. The housing is awful, they get little to no food. I am so surprised this place is still open, seems to me, some palms are getting greased.
They sell animals to young….and from the above comment….it's Christmas and they need the money, shows you what their true passion is really about…MONEY…..
Never ever buy there, you will just sick animals.

Nick's Pets is a horrible place that does not care about the animals they have. There is a English Lop, sitting in a rusty wire cage, barely any room to move with no hay. A rabbit has to have hay 24/7. The guy there said, OH he doesn't need any hay, I gave him some awhile ago, he is good. NO NO he is not. The poor rabbit is out in 90 degree weather, his ears are dragging along a wire bottom. OH but he isn't for sale because they want to breed him. OH GREAT, you can't even properly take care of what you have, but wait, there is more, they just get a "shipment" in of baby bunnies, they look like they are barley 3 weeks old. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT go to Nick's Pets, you will be buying sick animals that will die within their first year.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place and the owners should be ashamed and close up, before anymore suffering continues. I believe, many palms are being greased for them to stay open, just my opinion.

Must say they are the rudest people I have come in contact with here...I get some bird feed there but need to be careful of bugs...and when ask about the price of a bird, every one has a different price...lol I was told they wanted 1500.00 for a bird and was told by Nick I could never afford the bird it was 15000.00...in his dreams...also this rude nasty filthy place has no idea what I can afford, I am looking for somewhere else to go ...plus you can tell when the animal people have been there they are cleaning and half the animals are gone...You people at Nicks are filthy dirty or you would clean it up.

I have purchased pets from Nick's place and have never had a problem. This is not your usual pet store like Petco or Petsmart you get downhome, honest service that is not found anywhere anymore. They are regulated & licensed. They take care of their pets and have more years of hands-on knowledge than Petco/Petsmart could ever provide with their staff.
Prices are reasonable and fair. No gauging like big chains.
Nick's Place is open BECAUSE they have a passion and love for animals, not to get rich off of them. Open your eyes people! Sometimes (just like us humans) animals get superficial diseases, internal disease and health issues too. There no helping it sometimes.
When you place a deposit, are given the stipulations on the deposit and miss a payment or how ever many, you default and therefore no longer have a reserve for your purchase. Its quite simple. Maybe the guy commenting earlier should of called Nick's & explained his dilema. Im sure they would of worked with him. Take a payment over the phone or something. They are more than fair. Being told to F' Off may be extreme but hey, its still a free country & if you were that irritating to him, well...more people need to speak their mind & not be afraid to do it!

Nick's Pets is a horrible place to acquire any animal. I received a baby rabbit from their Ft. Pierce location from a friend, who bought her for me as a gift following the passing of my eight year old rabbit. The rabbit was not socialized AT ALL, underweight, had poop matted under her tail and rated in 'fair' condition by my veterinarian. After asking my friend where she acquired the rabbit, I visited the store in hopes of speaking to someone who could shed light on her condition. When I saw how their animals were housed (very cramped cages), the conditions of the other animals (several adult birds had visible bare spots from plucking, etc), and the lack of overall cleanliness, I knew they probably wouldn't be open to a "discussion" about my rabbit's condition. At any rate, I kept the rabbit who just weeks later developed a bad skin condition, which turned out to be scabies (inherited sarcoptic mange) and ended up spending a fortune on medical care. Sadly, her illnesses became too much and she passed away at the vet's clinic a few months later. I can't believe they are still in business. It's a shame animal control turns their backs on businesses like Nick's Pets who care more about money than the animal's well being and provide the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM care possible to these animals. Buyer beware!
