David Cutler is a scam artist. He is preying off the misfortunes of those individuals who have been separated from their careers and promising resources that cannot be delivered. He does not return calls, does not answer e-mails and has a polished sales rap. Beware of this man and do not sign any documentation or pay the $3000-$5000 he is asking for. You can do just as good on your own. There is no networking support, no contacts as he has promised and the web portfolio can be done better by a computer wiz. I did pay the money and after 7 months, nothing. Don't waste your time with Next-Opp and Dave Cutler. He is a used car salesman.

In 2010 I placed my resume on Six Figure Jobs and the Ladders, and shortly thereafter, I received numerous phone calls from a woman working for Next Opp. I said I wasn't interested, but she kept calling. The woman insited that I listen to her and told me that the company works only with elite Executives who they have already pre-placed among their bank of employers who regularly draw from their pre-qualified hand-picked candidates. Having vast executive experience, I started to listen. Although I normally do not buy into BS, I was told that they already had a $200K position that I qualified for. So, I agreed to stop in and listen to them.

When I went there, I was told that their placement was over 96%, and that they could place me within about 12-15 weeks- particularly with a specific company. I asked about the specific job cited on the call, and was told after I employed Next Opp the opportunities would become available. I paid, and expected to receive an executive resume, a unique web presence website, gain access to the alleged bank of employers, and obtain a coach. I was told that there were a few positions they already had lined up for me.

In short, their recommendations for my resume were boilerplate. The weekly coaching sessions were set up with my coach who ran about 20-45 minutes late every session, and almost always cut me short. She asked me to spend 11 weeks to do an exercise- and instructed me not to go on a single interview until complete (this is critical). They did not and would not provide me with my unique web presence. Nor would they refund the money I paid that was, per my contract directly for the design of that site- $1200. When my counselor was a no-show for the second time in one month, having driven >60 miles roundtrip to meet in Princeton, I met with David Cutler. I told him I was fed up, and that Next Opp was not the professional organization it claimed to be. There was no bank of employers, there were no interviews. There was no unique web presence, and the coach I was assigned was less than professional (I would have fired her). I wasted 11 weeks going through a program with no finish line, and got no interviews. If I had the time I would pursue Next Opp legally.

David Cutler is a crook. He preys on the recently unemployed. His company combs executive sites for people his company wishes take money from, and lies to get them to subscribe. He employs unreliable, questionable individuals. He is a liar. He has no business working with quality executives. As far as I am concerned, after about 5-6 months of substandard interaction, and non-completion of contractual obligations by Next Opp, I kindly asked Mr. Cutler to refund the web presence money for a service that his company never executed. He did not refund the money, citing his partner's unwillingness to comply (if there is a partner).

Despite Mr. Cutler's telling me to be prepared to go on a whirlwind schedule of interviews all over New York City- I did not obtain one single interview in the entire period that I worked with Next Opp. Rather, Blaine LeRoy placed me in contact with two Executive Recruiters- which was just odd considering Next Opp introduced themselves to me as a placement firm. They do not arrange interviews, and their allegations of a job bank are, to the best of my knowledge, a sham. They take your money, and then give you flyers, not interviews. Beware of Next Opp.

If anybody else reading this wishes to file a class action suit against Next Opp and Mr. David Cutler: I have my supporting documentation, and an eagerness to obtain a refund, plus damages plus legal for services not rendered and much time wasted. Mr. Cutler missed his chance to kindly refund my requested amount. I think he'd look great in stripes.

I had a similarly poor experience with Next-Opp and David Cutler. I unfortunately fell victim to this scam and paid his $5800 retainer. After one meeting with Scott Stein I was given a bunch of "homework" for purposes of rewriting my resume and marketing myself better, but I did feel comfortable with Scott and was prepared to go forward with the firm. While I was still within the period during which I could cancel the contract and receive a full refund, I received a call from a friend about a job that sounded very promising and I called Mr. Cutler to let him know that I was 90-95% sure I would be taking this other job and was leaning towards voiding the contract. I was told that I shouldn't let the contract deadline influence my decision and that if I got that job I would still be able to cancel since it was away from them. Sure enough, I got the other job and when I sent back the contract I was told I wouldn't be getting the refund. After months of arguing over this and threatening to sue, we ultimately compromised on $2900 to be refunded to me. This agreement was reached in January and after no payment from them and numerous emails and calls I finally received a $500 "good faith down payment", with the remaining $2400 promised me when business improved. I recently went back to Mr. Cutler via a threatening email but thus far nothing. This firm is a total disgrace and I am so angry with myself for falling for his schtick.

I dealt with Cutler too. He is a real scam artist. Stay far far away. He will start with having you answer a long questionaire to give legitimacy to his scam. He'll talk alot about the "back office" team that will be looking to make contacts for you while you work with one of his consultants. Finally, he'll say he'll waive the second part of he $7800 fee if he doesn't get you an inflated salary with a signing bonus to cover said fee. ...Please know that after you give him the $3400 up front payment, you will never hear from him again and he won't return your emails or phone calls. Stay away...stay far, far away...

Mickey, did he provide any references or sources or good news stories of any of his successful clients? I was going through the process of getting ready to work with them but haven't paid them yet. Are you saying they have no resources or anything of that nature? I truly want to hear your experience with them and can you send me a link to the website they created for you? Email me back cwaters973@aol.com
