Moose-R-Us.com / Attic Moose Antiques review: Horrible experience - steer clear!!!

I would absolutely STEER CLEAR of this company. We purchased what we thought was a normal item from them for a large sum of money. The item was not in good condition at all. Parts of the hide are falling apart, coming off in pieces etc. When I politely and respectfully contacted them, about 3 weeks after receiving the item — we had a death in our immediate family, which I let them know about — so we didn't open the package right away — they were rude from the get go. They told me that I hadn't properly understood the description of the item — I looked back at the description — I would say, in all fairness, that there was a bit of a grey area around this — the item was listed as "craft grade" which we did not understand the meaning of. They insisted that craft grade means the item is not in good condition... BUT the rest of the description AND the photos they chose to show, indicate an item that is used (we knew that, and didn't expect perfection in the item) but in overall QUITE GOOD condition. The photos conveniently don't show any of the damage, stitching, repairs etc. As I mentioned, they were extremely rude from the get go, even to my initial polite email. We requested to return the item or be given a partial refund. They told me that I had agreed to a 4 DAY RETURN POLICY. You will see other reviews below mention this fact as well. I have never in all my years as a consumer encountered this. To be fair, I didn’t read the fine print. But I can say, no company has a policy like this who is confident in their product and their customer satisfaction. If you think about it, that return policy alone lets you know what this company is about.

I would say this company VERGES ON FRAUDULENT. They're just skirting the edge of that... so it's all technically legal, and you've technically agreed to it all on some level, and I imagine they're so rude because they are well aware of their deceptive policies. I rarely write reviews at all, especially negative reviews. I fully understand the impact a negative review can have on a company. I wish I had checked the reviews here before buying. So I'm writing this to hopefully help others stay away from this company.

And also beware — we opened a dispute with our credit card company for the charge — and we have a GREAT and longstanding relationship with our card carrier, and Moose R US won the dispute. I imagine they've been through a lot of disputes before. They've got it all buttoned up and are just riding that shameful, spineless edge of taking good people for a ride. I will also be posting this review in other places, including the BBB.
