Mike Depew Sewer and Drain review: Gutter guards

Mike depew did a job of gutter guards for us & basement foundation work. We later found out, our gutters were leaking and it turns out that after the basement was done, it was still leaking from the excess water from gutters.. We spent 4k on basement sealing when it could of just been the gutters.. He said the sealant cost 850, it turns out we found the sealant at home depot that he used, for 300. Gutters are now fixed from flex seal spray, and no more leaks. So it could of been all really needed, he said otherwise, but after gutter job we know we can’t trust him.. We were new to him, but truly thought he was a good guy, & trusted person to hire, we were highly fooled. For gutter guards, he took a deposit of 700 then came by to do the job & was given the rest when done, a total of 1575. The work was done on august 25, 2022. We honestly should of got up on a ladder & checked them before paying him, not doing so was a huge mistake.. First off he claimed the guards themself cost 875, & they are literally very cheap looking roles of what looks like chicken wire! They look like they costed maybe 30 dollars a role at most.. It was probably one roll per side.. Secondly after going on a ladder, after he left & looking at them, we noticed none were even flush to the gutters! They are all extremely wavy, with many gaps.. Several times we sent polite texts and pics explaining this.. We talked to him on the phone too.. He lied and said he would come by & check them out, and sent us rolling eye emoji to our texts and ignored them. We had a reputable carpenter stop by today & he told me he knows of several people he scammed.. Took deposits from and vanished, bad work, all kinds of bad stories many far worse then ours. He said he goes to court all the time, and thinks it’s a joke. Very disappointing.. & 1575 is not pocket change! Since he refused to fix them, & we need to hire someone to fix, we are requesting a refund for the job.. They need to be taken off & redone with new much better material, & made flush the second time, which is going to cost more for the removal work also.. So 1575 what we paid is actually less then we should get.. But we don’t know the removal fee so we would settle for just our money back. We don’t know yet if the basement work was for sure needed or not, so we are not asking for anything for that at this point.. We know it leaked after, but tons of water was pouring down near the foundation from the leaky gutter over head.. We don't know for sure if it just needed flex seal spray on gutters, or actual repair on foundation too.. Leaks stopped after flex seal, but perhaps the seal did some good although not 100 percent we need to get it looked at more.. But we do know the deal with the leaf guards.. And he could of handled it politely and redid them, but he refused and was very rude in texbeing said we definitely deserve a refund which will be just some towards redoing, being he now cost us more, since they will need removal too!
