On 4/1/22, I arrived at the Wellness Center at Mercy Fitzgerald Services aproximately 11;45pm. I was there to have A1c (blood sugar) urine (protein analysis) thyroid screening (blood) hemoglobin, and X-ray of my injured right hand. First it took the "registrar a half hour to register me, I had to ask why was she completely a admission form for the hospital when I was only going for outpatien services. She stated that is how they did it now. She then asked me would I like to be added to the hospital registry. I told her no, that's for inpatient-again she said it's routine I still said no. AFter the"paperwork"was completed, was asked to pay a co-pay for x-rays ($30,00) which I wrote a check for. Then she put a wrist band on me. I thought that was odd, I had had x-rays and labwork before never a wrist band given but I didn't ask about it. When I get called back to what seemed like the lab area, someone with the tag name Shavonna asked me my name and date of birth. She took four (4) vials of blood (she didn't scan my wrist tag as I expected but she did verify my name and d.o. b. after drawing/collectiong blood, Shavonna handed me an unlabeled urine specimen cup asked to bring back after filling it. The restroom was inside the lab area so I didn't have to come out. However, after urinating in this unmarked cup, I come out of the bathroom to see no one in the area. I waited a couple of minutes. I did notice a filled lab cup (urine) in a tray. this specimen was unmarked as well. I didn't want to leave my urine there, so I come outside and see no one in the lab area. I was about to try someone in another area when my name was called for the x-ray. I take cup and moved it to the far right intending to come back and identify my specific (I wish I had of took it with me). I tried to tell the Xray technician about incident but he left so abruptly, I didn't get it all out. I am not confident about the entire scenario. No one around for minutes. I also had fasted for the A1C by now it is after 1:00pm and I hadn't eaten anything (diabetic) plus I was feeling dizzy and tired as I had two (2) doctors appointment earlier. So my concerns are these:
1. why was I given a wrist band for outpatient services and neither technician checked or scanned it.
2. why was the lab area abandoned both times when I came back to check on urine (which was still there)
3. when got my Evidence of coverage statement, there was a charge for me for Hospital services. Checking (Aetna) with my provider no one could tell me what that services was (I filed a complaint there as well) then I was told the hospital services was erroneously marked as"out of network"then they said it (charge) was to read the X-rays. really? But my concern is I didn't see any labels on vials or urine. Mostly urine concern, I don't know whose urine was there close to mine with NO LABEL. Imade a formal complaint twice, heard from someone once and told itwas being looked at but they are sure my specimens were labelled. So I know that means the"nvestigation goes no where.
Country of complaint: United States
Desired outcome: written explanation for issues I was concerned.
