I worked at ME for approximately 6 months. Aside from all the illegal work requirements for employees, the health and safety of clients is a joke. Potential client should know this. The office I worked in regularly has water running under the doors and the carpet is naturally mildewed and moldy. A health hazzard for everyone, employee or client. In June, the sewers backed up into most of the massage rooms. The owner refused to close for the day (It was even a Monday, the slowest day of the week too). We were instructed to say it was water damage and not allow anyone back into the restroom area, where feces was floating and all around the laundry room too. No appointments were cancelled or even pushed back in the day. We were expected to simply work in that situation and explose our clients to possible diease. The mess was simply mopped up with a bit of bleach water. that is what could be reached without moving equipment. The carpet was simply shampooed, not pulled up and treated. Every time the room begin to reek, they sprinkle carpet deodorizer and hope that works. The entire facility is now breeding mold, mildew and who know what from the remaining sewage. I do have pictures I will post later.

Proper sanitation proceedures are not followed on a daily basis.

LMTs are told by the owner to, "Put customer service before their training." In other words, if the client asks for something that could potentially harm them, do it anyway and don't ask questions, or educate and suggest something else.

I know the whole area has smelled like sewage for months now, so I believe it! I am not an employee, but I did just leave the facility. I had my daughter with me and the massage therapist offered to let her stay outside my room. I let my six year old decide, she's usually pretty good so I wasn't worried. I came out and she was in the front waiting area, not the tranquility room standing on the couch. I am like what the hell? Why would they just let me sit back there and receive a massage while a child bounced around the clinic. Then they tell me children under 18 aren't allowed there. She's come with me so many times and I always made her stay with me. I didn't once think of having her stay in the tranquility room until they offered. He said when I walked in with her he didn't want to tell me I couldn't receive my massage b/c my daughter was with me, but it is against the law. I was shocked. I would have much preferred he informed me of the laws and ask me to reschedule rather than waiting until I am so relaxed and happy to burst my now sensitive bubble. What TERRIBLE ethics. I feel bad b/c my daughter was obviously encouraged to leave the room I left her in of which I knew I could trust her doing. I feel even worse because I broke the law! And it's an absolutely devastating in my sensitive state immediately following a massage to inform of these things. Besides that the law is confusing:5-522. PERSONS UNDER EIGHTEEN PROHIBITED FROM PREMISES. No licensee shall
perform any massage therapy for or permit any massage therapy to be provided to
any person under the age of eighteen (18) years of age unless accompanied by a
parent or legal guardian.
(Ord. 2204, Sec. II, 2009)
So are children allowed with permission? She wasn't even receiving massage...terribly disappointed. My shoulders do feel better, but they could feel great if they hadn't opted to immediately kill buzz.

as you said, it's a public forum. and just because there is a "public" form, that doesn't mean your comment has any value or meaning if you've not actually patronized the business.

gkenigmatic - no one other than you can offer two cents? the both of you: what do you base your opinion on? neither of you appear to have even patronized this business so why do you have to offer a comment at all?

loathsome, your name says it all, as does mine. you don't know me, so you can't for certain state i have an agenda. again, i don't work for massage envy but all of the other posts are about failure to read (and accept) contracts or disgruntled employees. if you don't have something nice to say, say it on the internet. and you're offensive for using profanity on the internet. what is your experience with massage envy? i've actually had some good massages there. and do you really think this business would have human feces floating into a business and not have the board of health there the next day. of course not, but they can get away with it by lying on the internet. there are innocent people employed there, and for you and others to slander a company is loathsome...oh, that's your name!

I am HORRIFIED to read this complaint! I am a Massage Therapist working for a Massage Envy in Las Vegas who conducts their business in much of the same manner.
Clients should know that these places are NOT CLEAN! LMT are NOT given the hand soap required by law to wash up with rather were given dishsoap REALLY! You know the kind that cuts grease? Can you imagine what it does to our skin over a course of 8 to 10 hours?
Let's talk about the sheets that come from the Linen company with stains (unknown stains at that), Dirty towles, Dirty Blankets the list goes on and on! They refuse to use the proper soap and bleach required to insure these items are sanitary...
It saddens me that I am stuck working for such douch bags and I will continue to do whatever it takes to remove these kinds of business from benifiting from my hard work!
