Fraud
In March of 2013 I was in contact with a breeder named Tessa Kriesel for a golden retriever puppy. After I sent a deposit of $500 she cashed it immediately and we did not hear from her again until the end of May. We were told the puppies had been born the saturday before and that we should be able to pick up the puppies July 2013. It got really hard for her to give me a date of pick up or how we were going to pick them up. In June she emailed saying it was time to pick puppies from pictures she had sent vis emial, I thought these were the real puppies at the time but later found out they were of an old litter. As it got to be the week before pick up she emailed out saying the litter got sick with Parvo and they caught it at the Vets office while getting shots. She did not tell us what puppies had lived or died or how many. A week later she said 3 had died and still would not say which ones. After sending her 3 emials I told her I want out money back and she refused saying I will get a puppy. After some argueing I tried to call her and it was some man who had never heard of her on the phone. She took down her website but was still emailing me saying she was getting me a puppy, the puppies were suppose to be home from the vet already and be ready for pick up and now I can not get in contact with her. I want my money back and I don't think I am going to get it until I press chrages on her and go through a collection agency my family owns. Please don't fall for this fraud!

Stolen Puppy Deposit
I found Tessa Kriesel’s dog breeding website (http://luckystargoldens.com/) and contacted her in March of 2013 in regards to adopting a golden retriever puppy. I reserved a female puppy and sent her a check for a puppy deposit in the amount of $500.00. Tessa cashed that check immediately. She notified me the puppies would be born any time after May 15, 2013. I did not hear anything from Tessa for a while and after several weeks I was informed that the puppies were born. I did not receive any puppy pictures until June 10, 2013 (even though she informed me she was very good at sending emails and picture updates, almost daily). I later found that these pictures were from a previous litter in October of 2012, leading me to question the authenticity of this claimed litter. I did not receive any more email updates and her website was not updated once throughout this process. On June 24th I received another email with pictures, stating it was time to pick our puppy. I picked out a girl and I was told by Tessa that I could pick up the puppy any time after July 13th. On July 9th, Tessa finally confirmed I could pick up our puppy on July 14th. Numerous times I tried to get a phone number and home address from Tessa so I could plan to pick up my new puppy. Tessa neglected to provide this information through emails. Finally, I received a phone number from her. I tried calling it multiple times but it just continued to ring and there was no voicemail. She never returned my calls. Later in the day on July 9th, Tessa emailed me saying that 5 of the 10 puppies had been admitted to the vet for Parvo (a flu-like virus that affects dogs and can be fatal for puppies); informing me that we would not be able to pick up our puppy. However, she told me my puppy was healthy and full of energy when we asked for the phone number for the vet that she used. Tessa would not provide the vets contact information or send me a picture of my puppy with a dated piece of paper in the picture to confirm there was a puppy. I called multiple vets in her area, none of which knew about any Parvo outbreak or have heard of Lucky Star Goldens or Tessa Kriesel. I requested a refund and she finally mailed me a check that I received on July 19th. I cashed the check and was notified on July 24th by my bank that the check was returned because Tessa put a stop payment to the check. Tessa Kriesel has 500 dollars of my money, and I do not have a golden retriever puppy as I was promised. Do not trust this woman. She stole my money and she will likely steal yours too.

As of this week, Tessa has repaid my entire deposit. It sounds like she is on a good path for her personal and professional life now and I wish her the best of luck in her future.
Tessa has over $500 of my money as well. I paid her a deposit in March to create a website for my biz. She agreed to have it up and running by the end of May, but one excuse after another and I all I have is a domain name worth $10. Most people do require a deposit to start work on a website and or hold a puppy, but most people also deliver the goods as agreed upon for the deposit. I even met with Tessa Kriesel in person to make sure she existed and discussed my project with her... I think we should all go in and pursue a group legal process to get our deposits back for the puppy scam and the website dev't scam as she will continue to do this to others who do not look for these complaints. Call me at my other biz at Rustic River Trading Co. in Emily, MN - [protected] - Laura; leave a message if I am not there and I will get back to you.
She took our money as well!
Puppy deposit fraud
We were anxiously anticipating picking up our healthy puppy from Tessa this July 2013. However instead we have been informed the puppy would not be available as all the puppies (10 in total) are at the veterinarian for parvo virus infection.
Since she informed us of this issue, we have received one update that three of the puppies have passed away and we can "adopt" any surviving puppy for a reduced fee. We wrote a reply to Tessa stating that we understand this is a difficult time, however, we have contacted a different breeder that has healthy puppies available and have requested our $500 puppy deposit back. Since we have written this email, she has pulled down her website and is no longer answering her phone.
We currently feel duped. We wonder if the ten puppies have ever existed and if she is just stringing us along. BEWARE of this site!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Tessa repaid my website deposit. She paid me $250 about a year and a half ago, and this week she paid me another $276 which was the remainder of my deposit.
Everyone a part of this litter is receiving refunds and Laura has agreed on a settlement for partial refund even though more hours were done to her project than what had been paid for to ensure the situation was resolved.
Norman Family - please call me at [protected] Laura Odegaard - leave a message if I am not there. There is a sizeable group of us working together to resolve this.
I hired Tessa Kriesel of Lucky Star Goldens/Tessa Kriesel Designs in early March to develop a website for my business (her other business is supposedly web development). I gave her a $540 deposit and all I have so far is my $10 domain registration which she gave me only after I posted a complaint on this website...My e-commerce website was suppose to be up and running per our agreement by the end of May, but it has been one excuse after another including her child in the hospital, and has been a lot of extra work on my part to attempt to get her to reply, respond, do work, etc. Unfortunately I cannot believe anything she tells me since it has been promise after promise to deliver work to me and basically lies since she has not come through on anything. She recently told me she would stop work on my project and send me a disc with what she has done so I can have someone else complete my website. I want my money back, not her work, which I expect to be useless if anything at all at this point. If you would like to pursue the legal process with me please google my place of business, Rustic River Trading Company for the phone # and call me - Laura - leave a message if I am not there as I do travel for my biz a lot. Not sure if I can post a phone number here or I would. I think we have a better chance of getting our money back if we try as a group as Tessa is obviously pulling scams in multiple businesses and the attorney general does not like that.
I am also going through the same thing with Tessa and I have not receieved any money back and until yesterday she was still in contact with us and now she is not responding to anything. How did you go about getting your deposit back? I completely agree as well that she has been dragging us along this whole time.
The Norman family, I too went through the same situation with Tessa Kriesel, hoping to receive a puppy in July 2013. I agree with everything you said in your complaint and feel the same way. I wanted to let you know that after numerous emails and one bounced check we finally received a full refund today through a money order. I would continue to email, write complaints, call or contact authorities until you receive your refund. She guaranteed you a healthy puppy and you did not receive one and she still has your money, which is illegal. I am glad you found a new trustworthy breeder with healthy puppies and wish you the best of luck with your refund.
Parvo can be fatal, especially in puppies. It is also very contagious, however it is very unlikely that all 10 dogs of a litter would become infected. You are being lied to. I am a vet in White Bear Lake, MN btw. I hope you get your money back.

Took Deposit and Never Delivered Work
Tessa Kriesel advertises two businesses she owns. One of her businesses is for dog breeding Golden Retrievers and the other is her Web Development service. I hired her to develop a website for my jewelry business. She was very professional at first and communicated with me in a very timely manner, answering my questions in a positive manner, and then provided me with an Estimate/Agreement which I accepted and agreed to pay her half down deposit to start her work which was over $500. We met in person and talked through my project, the timing, and info I needed to get her. She told me she would have the Design phase completed in about 2 weeks. I gave her 3 weeks and upon not hearing from her I checked in. She did not respond to me for several days, I contacted her again and she replied by only saying things have been chaotic. Long story short, after over 2 months I still do not have any of the Design work or my Domain Registration information. She has repeatedly told me she has my Design concept work done and will be sending to me "today" and I never receive it. She has even told me she did send it to me, but she did not. She has lied multiple times, told me multiple different excuses, and provides me with little to no communication. When I do hear from her it is only by email (she refuses to call me, even when I told her I just wanted to talk about this for 5 minutes), and she is totally unprofessional and actually rude to me as if I am bothering her by trying to communicate about my project, get my Domain information or get her to return my $540. I am forced to take the legal route to address this unfortunate situation. I want to make sure this does not happen to anyone else who may want to hire her to do any Web related work or thinks it is a good idea to give her a deposit for a puppy. She has stolen my money and she will likely steal yours as well.
Tessa repaid the remaining $276 that she owed me as of this week. It took her 3 years to give back my full deposit, but it sounds like she is now on a good path for her personal and professional life and I wish her the best of luck in the future.
Tessa refunded $250 of my $540 deposit today. $14 of the deposit was for the domain name for 1 year, so she still owes me $276, which she said she work on paying me in the next few upcoming weeks. I will update again when this happens.
Dennis Hase, call me at [protected]. I have contact information for a bunch of people who were also scammed by Tessa and we are discussing our options.
I never did get my website from Tessa Kriesel...she has dragged me along for 5 months now. She recently said she would send me a disc of her work to have someone else complete my website. I don't want that as it will cost me even more money to find someone who can look at what she has done (assuming I would ever actually get the disc from Tessa). I just want my money back. I searched on this complaint site for other complaints about Tessa Kriesel and she has done the same pupy scam to many others who have posted other complaints on this website under Lucky Star Goldens. If you would like to pursue the legal process please and the others, contact me at my other place of biz - Rustic River Trading Co. in Emily, MN - Laura - [protected]; leave a message if I am not there and I will contact you. thanks!
Tessa Kriesel did send me the Domain Registration information immediately after I sent her a link to this complaint that I posted above. She also sent me design concepts this evening. I had posted this complaint after becoming extremely frustrated as a business owner that I hired and paid someone to do work for me and then not receiving the work on at least 10 occasions when she told me I would. This was my last resort to see if I could get any work from Tessa before starting the legal process. I will keep this complaint up until the work is completed in full, on-time, to my satisfaction.
Tessa repaid me $250 about a year and a half after I originated this complaint. She recently contacted me (via email - kriesel.tessa@gmail.com) and has repaid the remaining $276 as of this week, so my original complaint has been resolved.
Tessa did repay my deposit after I posted on this forum. I am very happy she did the right thing and have no further ill will. I retract my previous comments, including calling her a "###". Tessa indicated she was having a bad year and I for one accept that. I wish her the best in her future endeavors.
Matt Becka, I never took a deposit from you. I messaged you. If you truly did send me a deposit please email me proof. However, I haven't been doing any freelancing since this post nor have I don't business with anyone named Matt.
Matt Becka - I have no clue who you are and never did I take a deposit from someone with the name of Matt. Please email me per my message and we can resolve it, IF that is the even the case. Which I highly doubt it's true.
Is it too late to get in on this? Tessa Kriesel agreed to develop a website for my wholesale business and never followed through. I gave her a deposit of $250 and never heard anything from her. I also followed up and she gave me the run around on deadlines and work completed. I have pages of emails backing this up... It was a mess and I ended up dropping it because I didn't have time to pursue in small claims, but it sounds like Tessa is a grade a ###.
Sounds like Tessa is broke as a joke if it takes her several weeks to come up with $276. A job would help. Tessa you are pathetic.
Dennis Hase has since been refunded.
I already refunded everyone's money and I am not STEALING anything! I had a litter that passed away at 5 weeks old due to Veterinarian error and at that point already had a lot of money and time invested in the moneys. I lost over $10, 000 on the litter and I did repay the deposits back within the 1 year period that my website clearly stated. I have never had such a tramatic litter for the buyers, puppies and myself. I did everything to my best of my ability financially. As for Laura, she is being refunded as well EVEN though I did complete for $500+ in website work for her. However, she says she was not able to use the files so I am refunding her anyways.
She will never learn her lesson and if they just keep slapping her on the wrist she will continue to scam people. I know this as I took her to court in 2007 for stealing my identity. She received (if I remember straight) 20 days in jail and 21 on house arrest. Contact Dan Gardener out of Cass/crow wing county courthouse as he is the one who assisted me with my identity theft case. She is a sad excuse for a human being and doesn't know what honest work is!
I am Dennis Hase, Wanda Hase's husband. Tessa posted a note Aug 27-2013 saying we were refunded.
TOTALLY NOT TRUE AGAIN.
Does this creature ever tell the truth. I honestly want to see her in prison for defrauding Wanda and I, and all of you honest hard working good people.
My phone is [protected] I am sure that putting all of our documents together and organize our efforts, we can put Tessa in prison for a long time.
Everyone should take each piece of correspondence with Tessa, the breeder with the mail and Vets. (emails, letters, photo copy of checks, etc.) and scan them into a pdf.
Give the pdf a file name with the date of the correspondence and your initials. Then we all forward our emails to each other, followed by all the files.
We will organize them into a time line which will show her fraud, lies and extent of her scamming business.
When completed will issue to the D.A. and press for criminal charges with Otter Tail County's District Attorney David Hauser in Fergus Falls Minnesota.
Tessa Kriesel stole $500 from my wife for a puppy she claims she had. She is a flat outright liar. Do not trust her. my wife tried to buy a puppy from her to surprise me at the time when our 12 year old yellow lab was dying from cancer. What kind of person does that ? I will tell you -Tessa Kriesel. She is a thief and should be in prison. There are many out there who were scamed by this person. PLease file criminal charges with Otter Tail County's District Attorney David Hauser in Fergus Falls Minnesota. You can also take her to small claims court "Minnesota Conciliation Court" - find info. online. Her maiden name is "Pollock" check that out also. most people don't even know this complaint board exists. Think of how many others there may be ? Read her bold faced lies above about never returning a deposit. She is a thief !
Fraudulent puppy deposit
I'm not sure if you are supplying a web source for a Minnesota Kennel called Luckystar Goldens out of Bachus MN. The breeder is pulling scams, claiming that she bred her golden retriever ,Brandy, to a reliable breeder's dog from Shell Kennel. She asks for a puppy deposit and then does not supply any puppies. In fact she never bred the dog to the sire at Shell River that she states is the father of the puppies in her contract that she makes people sign. She knew that there would not be puppies and she did not send deposits back., nor inform the people who had sent checks, or return their deposit. I have no idea how many people are affected. Currently her web sight has a contract stating that the sire of her dog (Brandy"s) puppies is Bojangles from Shell River Kennels. She never bred her dog to Bojangles and is trying to pass off puppy pictures on her sight as belonging to her dog Brandy when they are actually puppies from Sami out of Shell River Kennels.
I paid a deposit on a puppy, and did not learn of the scam until I contacted the owner of the sire (Bojangles) at Shell River Kennels. I have not received a penny of my deposit back and I have not heard from her after my check was sent.
I don't know if this applies to you or not, but I thought I would inform you of the problem in case you have any difficulties with this kennel in the future.
The problems with Lucky star Kennels out of Bachus MN, gets worse. The owner of Lucky Star Kennels also goes on to state that she has a new male stud from Crume Kennel in Dakota. She gives his pedigree, breeding etc and states that puppies will be upcoming from this new male stud. I contacted Crume Kennel. They never sold her a puppybecause the check sent to them did not clear the bank, so once more this material is false.
She now has pulled material off most sites for MN golden retrievers, but she has opened a Pay Pal account at Amazon.com. Luckystargoldens then asks you to pay immediately with your credit card and you get 7 days to get your money back. Do NOT fall for this! I still have not heard from her or received my deposit back on a puppy that was supposed to be born at Christmas time. I later learned her dog was not even bred. I have no idea how many Minnesotan's put down deposits on Lucky Star Goldens out of Bachus MN.
Tessa re-paid my entire website deposit. She paid me $250 about a year and a half ago and another $276 this week which was the remainder of the balance of my original deposit.
T. Mitchell - Please call me at [protected] - Laura Odegaard - leave a message if I am not there. We have a group of us who have lost money to Tessa who are doing something about it. Thanks.
Add me to the list of people taken by Tessa Kreisel of Lucky Star Goldens. What's most shocking to me is I have a puppy from her litter born in 2012. Everything was perfect with the whole process, pictures were updated weekly, web cam was on and I actually got my puppy without issues. When I heard her dog Brandy was having another litter I sent my deposit and ultimately final payment and no puppy was ever able to be picked up. I live in Michigan so I had a shipper that was to pickup my puppy. Tessa cancelled 2 times and the third time she actually made up lies the whole time and had my poor shipper agree to meet her in St. Cloud at 3:30 to pickup the puppy. He arrived and she was no where to be found and I haven't heard one word since. The puppy I got from her in 2012 you can see on her facebook page and on the main page of her website...her name is Gigi. She even used her picture on the puppyfind.com adds. I would never thought this lady could do something like that to anyone especially someone that had dealings with her in the past. I had no reason to think I wouldn't get a puppy since my last dealings with her the first time were fine...big mistake. I have pages of emails with her, texts with her and the shipper and copies of the checks I sent her. Not sure anything can be done since I live in Michigan. I have sent the info to a collection agency and can hope for the best. I have no doubts now that this litter was never even born. Tessa is a horrible person. As a breeder myself I am amazed that she did this to me since we've had dealings last year that went perfect. I am shocked to learn it wasn't only me.
Tessa you are a loser and I hope you pay for what you did to all of us.
I would also consider contacting the U.S. Attorney's office for the federal district where Tessa lives. It sounds as though she has used the phone system, U.S. Mail and internet to carry out her fraudulent activity in several states, giving rise to numerous potential violations of federal statutes for wire and mail fraud. Her organized efforts to scam individuals might even give rise to federal RICO claims. The poster who suggested banding together to bring your stories to the attention of the authorities was right on the money. Sadly, individual claims of fraud for amounts of approximately $500 aren't usually enough to get the authorities to spend already limited resources to investigate and/or prosecute. However, if there are 10+, 20+ or more such cases, its more likely the authorities will assign the time and resources needed to stop this woman from victimizing others. With regard to the federal authorities, the U.S. Attorney's office may not face the same type of budgetary constraints as local DA's. Again, I would encourage all victims to organize and then reach out to state/local and federal authorities. Good luck to you all.
I just found out that the current ongoing fraud case in the system for Cass County is #13169. When you call the sheriff's office in Cass or in Ottertail or the Attorney in Ottertail you can give them this case # to reference in their system. Tessa's last known address in the Cass County system is the one in Backus and that is where she was convicted of Felony Identity Theft, so it is important to contact the Cass County Sheriff so they can build a case to turn over to the Attorney there and potentially work with the Ottertail sheriff and attorney as well to prosecute.
Was wondering why the amount which seems to come up all the time is $500. Minnesota law states anything over $500 is a felony UNLESS more than one victim is involved Minnesota stat. 609.527, subd.3 Let's get the list of victims together. check out the website for an overview of the law. Max. sentence is 20 years + $10, 000 fine http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/hrd/pubs/idtheft.pdf

Tessa -
You are an outright liar - how can you even look at yourself in the mirror? You have not issued a refund to me and have strung me along for months promising it was in the mail. As of today, only 1 person has received a refund and sooner or later your fraudulent activity will catch up with you! It is time you are stopped - I just can't believe it has taken this long and we will put an end to your "Scam Artist" activity.
Tessa you say EVERYONE has been issued a refund? I have not seen a dime how can you say everyone has been issued a refund when I olnly know of one person who has actually gotten one and that was in July?
Tessa informed me after I called the Cass Count Sheriff's Dept. on Monday that she had sent me a CD of the work she has completed for my website, but I never got the CD. The Deputy called Tessa for me and she also immediately emailed me links, user names, and passwords for the first time to my website, but I cannot open the website to see what she has done because it is not complete and I need to be a web developer with a special program to do this. So, I have to hire a new web developer to open what Tessa has just now finally sent me (website was suppose to be up and running by June 1st), to see what Tessa has actually done that she is calling work...I did terminate our agreement after Tessa would not respond in an appropriate manner (refused to call me after telling me over and over that she would to talk about the status or details of my website project) or timeframe (sometimes for weeks and then tell me she did something that she actually did not do, over and over and over) or deliver any work to me and I requested she return my deposit, but she would not return my deposit. What I understand is going on in my own situation is that I paid a supposed professional web developer to develop a business website, train me to add my own products and other content, and have it all up and running by June 1st. That did not happen. I still do not have a CD of the work either. I feel this does have to do with the litter of puppies since it is the same person, Tessa Kriesel, who according to the Cass County Deputy I spoke with confirmed that Tessa was convicted of Felony Identity Theft in 2007 and is on supervised probation until 2017, who owns a puppy breeding business and a web development business who has made people upset enough to go and take their own valuable time to post these comments about her and her 2 businesses. Dennis Hase, please call me at [protected]. I have a list of people who have not received deposits or puppies from Tessa. thanks!
