I received a check and letter it deposit in my checking account to pay taxes on a lottery I won and never entered in the United Kingdom. I called the number and got an answer and was told all I had to do was deposit the check and call them to let them know when I deposited it. I checked and someone else had been scammed in August. What got me was I was supposed to draw out $1995.00 when it was deposited to send to Western Union for taxes on my winnings and they would Fed X me the winnings when they received the check from Western Union.

Dear.Compliant,

How are you doing today? My names are Mrs Linda Briggs i want to inform
you that i also happen to be a lucky recipent of this same award last
year, first i was having some scepticisms over the whole issue but i was
told to send an email along side my datas to their Claims agent who is
Mr James Phillip([email protected])who in turn guided me on
how i collected the won amount, the only thing i paid for was the
transfer charges which was just $650USD then my winnings was transfererd to my Bank account directly from the United Kingdom.

So I would advice you write to the Claims Agent to inform you on how
you are going to collect your won amount.

Thanks,

Mrs Linda Briggs.

I get emails similar to this on almost a daily basis. If you are foolish enough to believe if you give your personal information to some stranger over the internet simply because they are claiming they want to mail you millions of dollars you deserve the consequences over what happens to you.

How does the diversity lottery for green cards work? (to get a residence visa to live in the US)?
I have a friend who would like to move to the US from Japan and I'm looking for ways to get her a residence visa. I'm wondering how that diversity lottery works for green cards. Anyone know?
