I contacted this breeder that was advertising on puppyfind.com regarding a well bred sheltie female going by the call name of Tressa. She was a gorgeous biblack female that had some of my greatly missed biblack sheltie male's lineage in hers. I let this lady know what her dog meant to me and that there was a definite purchase of her. I let her know that I lived in VA and that I would be picking up the dog but I had to figure when since I have a litter of my own for sale and that 4 of the 7 were being picked up over the next week or two and I would have to move around their date of pick up. I let her know since this wasn't a forethought purchase that it would take up to two days to arrange her deposit and that I would call her when it was going into the mail so she could look for it. She said she was going to be gone between the llth and the 18th of October so I knew I wouldn't be able to pick Tressa up until after then. I had mentioned that I had shelties in Canada and all over half of the US and that if she wanted references from me that I would be glad to give them to her. I asked her to bear with me on the deposit that it would arrive after Columbus Day. I told her the first deposit would be small but after some of my puppies were picked up I would mail her the rest so she would be paid up when I picked Tressa up. The deposit was going to be the usual $100 which is standard. She asked me if I could send half up front (full price was $675) and I told her by next week I would be sending the balance. She never said no I want more or I'll sell the dogto someone else. I talked to her on [protected] initially and as I said to her on that day I would send the deposit within two days.

I called today which is now Oct 8th to let her know the money was going into the mail and she tells me that her "husband" sold the dog last night [protected]). I said so in other words if I would have mailed the deposit yesterday, he would have sold the dog before my deposit would have gotten there. I don't do business that way and I certainly wouldn't want a client to have been treated that way by me. What happened to verbal agreements before the written agreement finalizes the transaction? Where was the golden rule in this transaction.? Why didn't they notify me of what they did? What was she expecting me to do living in VA? Go through hoops and drive immediately after our phone conversation? I was so happy to find this beautiful little girl and Lori Gore and her husband burst my bubble and balloon on good faith. I bought a newfoundland puppy in IN and it took a couple of days for the deposit then mail the check to get it there. She didn't sell the dog out from underneath me like Lori Gore did. Please do not associate with people that would double cross someone when you are acting in good faith and by all means let them know and their peers know when they do. This is going out to you and your husband Lori Gore. This is what happens when you double cross someone in a business transaction. Robin Davis Oak Glen Shelties in Hurt, VA

Greetings,

My name is Matt and I'm the Relationship Manager with Puppyfind.com. As our name was mentioned at the beginning of this complaint, I feel it necessary to leave a comment concerning our connection to both parties involved in this complaint.

Oftentimes when individuals mention Puppyfind.com in a complaint such as this one, it is the immediate assumption that our company had a direct involvement and connection to the parties involved. While it is true that our website was created to bring dog breeders and buyers together, Puppyfind.com does not take part in the actual sales of the dogs shown on our website. We do not actively endorse any specific members that come to our services, nor do we participate in any agreements or contracts made between individuals who decide, on their own accord, to deal with each other. Furthermore, Puppyfind.com does not participate in the exchange of any funds for the dogs advertised on our site, or the transportation of any dogs that are sold while advertised on our website. In short, Puppyfind.com is simply a meeting place for people to come together, and all who come to our site do so of their own volition.

Our Terms of Service (TOS) state that we do not pre-screen members. Due to the nature of our website, we cannot be held liable for any direct, indirect, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses. Our full TOS can be viewed by going to Puppyfind.com and clicking on the TOS link at the bottom of the home page.

While it must be acknowledged that the complainant does not hold Puppyfind.com responsible for what has taken place between themselves and the dog breeder, I must also acknowledge that it is these types of complaints that cause many people to assume our company somehow endorses either party involved and the actions taken by either party. Puppyfind.com does not condone any type of activity that violates our TOS, and will remove members found to be in violation of our TOS and the law at large.

At Puppyfind.com, we care about our members, and it is our hope that all who come to our service will do the best to equip themselves with the proper tools before going into any transactions with other members. We provide Buyers Tips for people interested in purchasing a dog online, our TOS is available for all to read if any questions or concerns are had regarding our services, and members have the power to report any suspicious activity with the touch of a button. It is our hope that these tools, coupled with common sense, will provide all of our members an enjoyable experience while visiting Puppyfind.com.

Thank you for your time,

Matt

Have to agree with helpNu on this one. If you had not put a deposit down on the dog yet or at least signed a written contract she had no obligation to hold the dog if there was someone else with money in hand willing to buy now. You can promise to send money and promise to send money but until they actually either have a contract signed or your deposit they have no proof that you will actually buy. Most breeders will not hold an animal without a deposit in hand that's simply standard practice.
