A breeder in Peterborough Kawarthas or Chemong Lake, under the name of Lakehouse Doddles sold us an 8 week old goldendoodle puppy with Parvovirus and it cost us thousands to save his life. The breeder, Linda Crough or Linda Watson claims that the dogs are vaccinated and vet checked though once we told her our puppy was sick she refused to provide proof that either service was ever performed. She suggested that we euthanize the puppy and she would send us a new one like a defective pair of shoes. I hope this will save someone from purchasing a puppy from her parvo ridden breeding facility and spare you the heartbreak and the financial burden that our family suffered. First let me start by saying how sorry I am to hear about your experience with this particular breeder. I can't even imagine what it must have been like to bring a new member of the family home with you only to find out that it was sick with one of the worst puppy viruses a puppy could get. I myself am looking for a Goldendoodle puppy and will be sure to steer clear of this breeder that's for sure! It's tough to find Goldendoodle puppies up here in Iqaluit so it's at least good to know the breeders to avoid.

Just a couple comments for johnvettech concerning his above post. I am not sure why in the world a vet tech would be looking through complaint boards to try and find posts that he or she disagrees with to comment on. Obviously this was a tragic experience for the OP so why would you hop on here and insist that her statements were most likely false? Is this something vet techs frequently do? I would have to say not very likely. Unless, of course, said vet tech works for the breeder or in fact is the breeder and is trying to clear their name for the sake of their business. If you do work for the breeder (or are the breeder) why not just say you are so your comments at least seem legitimate. Instead it just seems like you are attacking this poor lady that you don't even know. Shame on you!

Suggesting someone euthanize their new puppy is also a bit of an insulting thing to say to someone. Perhaps as a vet tech (if you really are one) you see puppies being euthanized on a regular basis, but to a new puppy owner it could be very frightening to think about ending your puppies life once you've become so attached. I know I have had dogs in the past, that I have spared no expense for, as they were considered members of our family which I think is a very common point of view.

How can you be sure what the agreement between her and the breeder was or if there even was one? Sounds suspicious at best. Sounds like you may be intimately familiar with the terms of the contract of this particular facility...

I wish you and your new puppy all the best Holly!

Sincerely,

Jonny

Why wouldn't you take the dog back to the breeder if this were true? If you truly believe the puppy was sick when you purchased it you should have taken it back. It obviously looked healthy to you and the breeder otherwise you would not have taken it home.
Parvo can show symptoms 24-48 hours on exposure anytime after you brought the dog home so how do you know where your puppy got parvo. Are you sure the puppy didn't get parvo from the vaccination? Why would you buy a dog that didn't have written health information when purchasing the dog? And then spend thousands of dollars to save a puppy when you could have returned it? Parvo is a terrible illness that can be very painful for a puppy and can mean a lifetime of continued health issues. Most reputable vets will suggest euthanizing unless they can get you to commit to thousands of dollars and a lifetime of vet bills. Sounds like you are looking to blame someone because your puppy got sick... you didn't do your research on what is best for the puppy and got sucked in by a greedy vet when you could have returned the puppy to the breeder.
