Purchased this appliance at Sears. Didn't buy the extended warranty - hey, it's a fridge. They last at least 3 years, don't they? Apparently not. After ONLY 15 MONTHS it stopped cooling. Called for service, had to wait 2 weeks for a tech. We were told it was a problem with the heating unit; part ordered, will have to wait another nearly 3 weeks for part installation. Tech de-iced it, said in the meantime it should work for a while until it iced up again. It kicked on once right after it was de-iced, hasn't run again since. It was futile to try to get a tech out to confirm that we won't be surprised with ANOTHER problem besides the heater. "Sean" from the customer service call center tells me they can't schedule another repair appointment until the ordered part has been put in and find out if it actually solves the problem or not. So we wait and see if this $1500 piece of junk needs to be scrapped after less than 2 years. I have never been so disgusted and disappointed in a company. They haven't backed this product and they haven't provided any meaningful response to resolving our issue. Thank goodness we have a second fridge in the basement. If it turns out this lemon needs another part it goes to the landfill. We're done with Sears and Kenmore.

We are seeing the same issue. Sears products USED to be the best! Now, since PROFITS are the main issue, quality is NOT! Our new bottom mount refrigerator didnt last 18 months. Shame on Sears management. That's why the company has been dismantled and sold in pieces. We had to replace the circuit board, made by Daewoo, and the evaporator fan motor. 12 Weeks to get the parts! Kenmore USED to be a great product, today, it's at the bottom! What an american failure!

With respect, I believe most appliances only include a one year-limited warranty. This is something any consumer should take into account when making their purchase.
